Summary: Even men read her.....
Review: "Even men read her" is quite an acclaim for a female writer the way I see it.
In this story the forensic sculptoress Eve is constantly "mad as [heck]"to speak with the author. She is cross with everyone except her pert child Jane, who seems to be the adult here. Joe is the ever so besotted lover, a total wimp when it comes to Eve, otherwise an ex-marine sniper, whom she is cross with and bosses around, while he caters to each one of her whimsical whims. They are both [weak] to say the least. The heroine is constantly guarded by a retinue of men like the queen in a bee hive. These men parade around until they get killed. Typical for a female writer there is much kitchen activity and men do all the cooking and nurturing. Galen is a likeable chap and a fresh breathe of air. I give the book credit for being entertaining. Johansen starts out with a good plot about a secret society but she has trouble seeing it through. Gerborg

Summary: Illuminating Read!
Review: "Body of Lies" by Iris Johansen, I thought was an illuminating read. The characters memorable, vivid and, passionate, the dialog smart and, sassy and, the plot interesting.

A few people out to destroy a secret socity comprised of world leaders -- A lot of research went into the creating of this novel--

"Body of Lies" is story that I enjoyed, however; it is also a novel that I probably should have read the connectings books to the series first!

Summary: Not up to her standards or my expectations
Review: A boring story with annoying character conflict. Eve is torn up after discovering Joe's lie. It's obvious they'll get back together -- but not until we slog through hundreds of pages of her angst.

Summary: My Last Eve Book
Review: Actually, it's hard to rate a book that I didn't finish, but it's so seldom that I don't stick with one to the end, I guess I owe it at least one star. I had read the two previous Eve books and had enjoyed them. I was, however, quickly disappointed with a plot that was too far-fetched to be at all believable. The dialog was redundant and unrealistic, especially that of the twelve-year-old Jane. Yes, some preteens are insightful and understanding, but Jane's comments and actions are more appropriate for Eve's mother than her daughter. I will read another of Johansen's books but not another featuring Eve as the protagonist. Galen, perhaps, but definitely not Eve. (Oops, I didn't finish the book. Perhaps Galen met the same end that at least four other characters had already met by page 144!)

Summary: exciting thriller
Review: After the heartache forensic sculptor Eve Duncan has been through, she's finally happy. She's living with her lover Atlanta Detective Joe Quinn, and her daughter Bonnie after years of searching is buried on their property. When Senator Melton of Louisiana calls asking Eve for help in identifying a skull, she refuses.

Jules Herbert, a member of the Cabal, insists that Eve be the one to do the identification. Since she refused the Senator, Jules arranges for her to find out about Joe's betrayal. When she does, she runs to Louisiana to drown herself in work so she won't have to dwell on what Joe did to her. From the time she arrives she is faced with death threats to her and her loved ones. Joe follows her to make sure Eve lives to see another day even if she hates him for it.

Iris Johanson has written another exciting thriller starring characters from previous novels. Readers will feel they are being reunited with two dear friends and hope that they can work out their problems, both professional and personal. BODY OF LIES is a compelling tale filled with so many unexpected twists and turns that readers won't be able to predict what happens next.

Summary: A fast, fun read..
Review: As a Iris J. fan, I have to say that this book was certainly her most engaging. I picked it up in a convience store for the pure fluff of it. The pacing was fast (although there were a few pages I just had to skip outright), the characters were quick-witted and occasionally snippy and the story kept moving. My only complaint was that I couldn't stop reading it until it was done (cover to cover took roughly 2-3 hours). This is a book for folks who just want a quick whodunit for an evening of vegging out or a quick plane flight. Oh and to the person who compained about the lack of Southern accents - we Southerners all sound the same to one another...so why would we go through the trouble to write a "twang" in dialouge?? ;)

Summary: An Excellent Read
Review: As a third installment to the Eve Duncan series, I would have to say that it was truly an excellent read. I literally could not put it down until the very last page. The plot was entralling and a couple of my favorite characters made reappearances, not least of which was Galen. The reader is once again thrown into the complicated senario that is Eve Duncan's life. Iris Johansen also further introduces the reader to Joe Quinn, a character that has only been skimmed before. I wonder if a fourth enstallment into this series will be released in the future. I read recently of Iris Johansen's newest novel, "Dead Aim", and I can't help but wonder..... I'm hoping that, if it is a fourth installment, it focuses not so much on Eve Duncan, but on Joe Quinn. In it, I'm also hoping those two will finally tie the knot.

Summary: Eve Either has to Grow Up or Go
Review: Eve Duncan is back and she's still grieving. Author Johansen has brought back Eve, Joe, Jane and Galen in this Robert Ludlum type adventure that is so much better than her last book ("Final Target") that I can't believe it. I was worried about Iris, afraid she'd lost it, but clearly she can still tell a story. Now if only Eve would get over her loss. And how come Joe puts up with it? Maybe it's time Johansen retired Eve, maybe a story centered around Sean Galen.

Still, I found the book an exciting read, loved most of it and am giving it four stars. The book was exciting, as Johansen fans have come to expect, but that Eve, she's either gotta grow up or go.

Summary: Kept me glued...
Review: Excellent story line. This is the first book I have read by this author, and I can't wait to read the rest. Totally captivating from start to finish.

Summary: Good, but somewhat silly novel
Review: Forensic sculptor Eve Duncan is trying to move on with her life, she is in a committed relationship, she has a loving adopted daughter, and she has finally put to rest the murder of her biological daughter. Then one day Eve receives a phone call with a request...she is needed in New Orleans to reconstruct a man's skull that has been found. At first Eve refuses this job, but when a shocking discovery about her daughter is brought to light, she retreats to the bayou's to take on this new job.

Leaving her life, and the lies that have been told to her, Eve wants nothing but a getaway, and find the identity of the skull, but on her first night in New Orleans she almost killed, and a mysterious man claims that he has been given to her for protection.

The further she becomes involved with the skull, Eve realizes she has stumbled upon a horrible conspiracy, and she must match wits with a masterful killer willing to do anything to keep her from finding the truth, and the only man she can turn to is the one the one man she may not be able to trust.

As the clock ticks, and the bodies drop around her, Eve must find out answers and put a stop to the killings, before the next dead body is her own.

'Body Of Lies' is a fast-paced thriller, but unfortunately suffers from some complicated plot twists. Eve Duncan is an enjoyable character, and most of the novels that feature her have been excellent, but in 'Body Of Lies' the plot races along only to stall when the plot changes to reveal some strange twists.

Iris Johansen is a good thriller writer, but in her new novel she has tried to come up with a clever, tricky plot that ends up seeming silly, and boring. Although not a bad book, 'Body Of Lies' does not rank with the previous novels by this best-selling author.
