Rating: Summary: Very intellectual Review: A complex plot blended with an intelligent whodunit. Detective Boldt with his remarks and questions forces the reader to participate and wonder all the time. Suitable for everyone who wish to think as part of the entertainment
Rating: Summary: A Good Rainy Weekend Book Review: A good book to curl up with on a rainy day. Fast paced, intriguing. A good balance of the intensity of a gruesome crime spree, and insights into the frailties of the main character. My first Pearson book; won't be my last.
Rating: Summary: Off to a good start. Review: Being the first in Pearson's Lou Boldt series, I would say he is off to a good start. With a serial killer they have dubbed 'The Cross Killer' loose on the streets, Boldt and his team must leave no stone unturned. Boldt is walking around looking tired and scruffy, having problems in his marriage, and is constantly on the outs with a colleague with whom there is no love lost. Despite this, Boldt must muster the energy to get cracking on this case or risk being taken off it. Pearson's Boldt series has the potential to be a top-notch thriller series. I look forward to reading more by this author.

Rating: Summary: Predictable and plodding Review: Did something I never do and tossed this after the first 150 pages. The writing is torturously bad, the dialogue is painful, and the characters are cardboard.
Rating: Summary: must read for crime fans Review: excellent reading but then all of his books are. if you like crime/detective books need to check out this one, couldn't put it down
Rating: Summary: A true page turner Review: From the second I read the first word I could not put the book down. This book's plot is well planned and written. What is nice is that the author does not repeat himself in order to keep the plot flowing. This is my first Ridley Pearson novel & I am planning to read all of them.
Rating: Summary: Dumped it 1/4 of the way through Review: I am sorry to those who love this book, but I would have to agree with the last review written. I got to page 110 and couldn't go any further. I know, I know that it gets better further on but it was so damn boring & it was such a tedious job getting to where I already was that I couldn't keep it up.Why? I really don't know. Pearson's dialogue between characters is really not that good at all & maybe his plots are better, but the story wasn't really going anywhere and it didn't get my attention right from the beginning, therefore it was doomed! The last reviewer said that after 200 pages the story gets better but nothing that hasn't been done before so I though, why bother? esp when I have a stack of Michael Connelly and Dennis Lehane to keep me going for the next few weeks. Maybe I should have stuck with the rest of the book, but the writing and character development is terrible. Crime fiction lovers, do yourself a major favour and read Michael Connolley instead.
Rating: Summary: One sitting, cover to cover... Review: I couldn't put this one down; one sitting, cover to cover. The author does an excellent job of describing Puget Sound. This is a must read for any Pacific Northwest mystery fans.
Rating: Summary: Terrific read. I couldn't put it down. Review: I had every intention of reading this book slowly, but after the first 50 pages, I couldn't put it down. There are so many twists and turns to the plot that you feel you have to read the next chapter just to see what might happen next. Pearson gives us a peak at the tribulations going on in Lou Boldt's personal life which makes his obsession with capturing the "Cross Killer" even more interesting and understandable. I have read several books in the Lou Boldt series. I liked them all, but this and the "Pied Piper" are the best.
