Summary: Side Splitting Humor --- Page Turning Action!
Review: "Hot Enough to Kill" has it all! Sharp tongued Jolene Jackson and her purse swinging mother are a hilarious duo. But don't let that undermine the fact that this book is filled with all the right twists and turns of a great murder mystery! A must read!

Summary: From The Midwest Book Review
Review: 5+ Stars, 5+ Laughs! "Hot Enough to Kill is a hoot and a half of rollicking good mystery! Jolene Jackson could take on any 'classic' female private eye and have her down for the count. Add her to the best set of characters next to the cast of an Emmy sitcom, nasty murder, and a small town Kickapoo, which while making me giggle, makes me want to move there. Do that, and you have THE BEST DANG NOVEL I'VE READ ALL YEAR! Has to be film adapated. Would make a delightful audiobook."

Summary: Uproariously funny
Review: A new writer to watch. Paula Boyd has a fine grasp of dialogue and action. Not a dull moment in this book. Jolene Jackson returns home to bail her 72-year-old mother out of jail. Soon, bullets start flying faster than Jolene's mouth, if that's at all possible. Throw in a few hormones with Jolene's high school sweetheart and you've got a delicious recipe for a great read.

Summary: Humorous amateur sleuth mystery
Review: Although forty-six years old Jolene Jackson was born and raised in Kickapoo, Texas, population just a shade over a thousand, she makes her life in the Colorado mountains. Every time she returns home, unpleasantness of some sort engulfs her. This trip back to Kickapoo involves her eccentric mother being the prime suspect in the murder of the town's mayor. Jolene manages to keep her mother out of jail even as she sees her former lover Sheriff Jerry Don Parker. However, she refuses to remain in Kickapoo and he rejects the notion of leaving his children (from a previous marriage).

The pair have no time to reminisce as a bullet shot through Jolene's window badly inures Jerry Don. A second shot apparently aimed at Jolene hits the deputy. Jolene begins snooping in order to learn who wants to hurt her and her mother. Her investigation leads her into some nasty segments of the community while a patient killer watches and waits for the next opportunity to surface.

This first entry of an apparent series will leave readers loudly laughing at the antics of Jolene and her mother. HOT ENOUGH TO KILL is a tongue-in-cheek look at relationships and amateur sleuthing. Still, the mystery has a character of its own that adds to a wonderful plot. If this tale is any example, Paula Boyd has a long running series that will provide much pleasure to fans.
