Rating: Summary: this is one DAMN GOOD book!!!!!! Review: I read this book in one night, I just couldn't put it down. Donegan put quite a twist on the whole "Atlantis" and "Bermuda Triangle" deal. But, what got me was the "special gift" that the lead character, Dane had. That was awesome. This is one of my all time favorite books by him, along with the Area 51 series(which was written under a different pen name, Robert Doherty). The only thing that I didn't like about the book was that it was too damn short. I can't wait for the sequel to come out.
Rating: Summary: THIS IS THE PROVERBIAL "PAGE-TURNER" Review: This book is a must-read and it won't take long because you can't put it down. Donegan takes well known riddles and mysteries (such as the Bermuda Triangle) and puts in his own explanations to their occurences. His knowledge and background in military technology is amazing and helps propel the flow of the book. With any luck, it won't be long for the sequel, because I AM HOOKED!
Rating: Summary: An excellent thriller with a beautiful twist ... Review: This is an excellent book by Greg Donegan. I picked it up simply because it presented an interesting twist to the age-old "Atlantis" and "Bermuda Triangle" mysteries. The author weaves an intricate web of adventure and mayhem entangled with very believable sci-fi. From start to finish there is an incredible pace to the book. The main plot is very intriguing and it is really hard to put the book down. Simply because of the unique nature of the plot and the good finish it is a MUST READ! The only thing that begs a question is, "When is the sequel coming out?"
Rating: Summary: Atlantis Review: Though historically and scientifically inaccurate in places, this is still an interesting book to read. Many authors take liberties when writing and even moreso when the work is a sci-fi novel. Mr. Donegan has taken just enough fact and added it to the fantasy to make this work captivating enough to cause one to read the entire novel to see what the outcome will be. The main characters are well developed but not so much as to take the focus away from the central plot. If extreme scientific and historic accuracy is what you seek, this may not be the book for you. However, if you are just looking for a good, fun and comfortable read with no strings attached then look no further, this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: Horribly written Review: This book reads like it was written by a 6th grader.
"Sounds almost like someone's trying to contact us via sonar," the captain of the Scorpion reported. "Pinging us. We're copying. Oh no!" he suddenly exclaimed. "We've got problems in the reactor."
...
"Evasive action!" the captain yelled.
"Sir the reactor's off-line," another voice was shouting in the background. "We don't--"
"Goddamnit" --the captain cut the other man off-- "get us out of here number one! Blow all tanks. Now!"
There may be an interesting plot somewhere in here, but it is too poorly written to keep one's interest. The dialog is childish and full of cliches, technical details are both rare and incorrect, and imagery falls along the lines of "His rucksack was a large green pack."
Don't waste your time or money.
Rating: Summary: Not What I Expected Review: I bought this book based on the customer rating it's received on Amazon.com. That's th first time I've been steered wrong. I was looking for a good book that combined current mysteries (like the Bermuda Triangle) with Sci Fi and alternate explanations for these mysteries. The connection the book tries to tie to The Bermuda Triangle is very weak. The mystery surrounding it was not built up well at all, and in my opinion, Donegan set up the plot very poorly. You kind of spend the entire book wondering what's going on, only to get to the end and wonder where the rest of the book is. If you're prepared to read this as a series and follow up with the other books, it might be worth it, but the main problem is that the book abruptly ends with nothing really tied up. Even other novels that are part of a series try to finsh the novel with some bit of settlement, however the last page of this book could easily be the end of a chapter. And the plot was not enough to convince me to follow up with the series.
Rating: Summary: Tom Clancy meets Stephen King. Review: Enjoy high-tech military thrillers? Love mist covered cities in the middle of an Asian jungle? Do CIA agents, unknown enemies and unsolved myteries make you happy? THIS is the book for you. Most of the time I don't bother with books that deal with disappearing aircraft, long lost civilizations and the Bermuda Triangle, but Mr. Greg Donegan is able to put it together in such a way that I needed to finish the book. Donegan is a good author and I plan to find the rest of the books within this series.
