Summary: Fun read!
Review: Good summer beach read. Kind of a cross between the x-files and The Hunt for Red October. The writing is a simple straight forward style that is easy to read. Enough surprises to keep you turning the pages. Also check out "A Tourist in the Yucatan" an exciting adventure thriller!

Summary: Superb action mixed with myth
Review: This book made me think that the author has mixed a techno thriller with a fantasy novel. Strange combination that works. The parts about Angkor Wat and Angkor Kol Ker really interested me. Highly recommended.

Summary: Average bestseller
Review: Here's an example of a reasonably well executed thriller - I'd really rate it 2 1/2 stars. Donegan makes use of most of the classic elements: high concept, tight deadlines and effective use of scene jump cutting and multiple points of view to ratchet up the suspense and keep the story moving. The use of a dog in the plot is relatively fresh and interesting. However, there are some spots where the book falls down. Characterization is weak - all the villians are pure evil with no other reedeming characteristics, so their actions and reactions are quite predictable. His science and technology aren't up to snuff either, I found numerous errors in his explanations of devices (for example the color of light does not affect the speed of propogation, only the density of the transit medium does - which makes the Bright Eye device bogus) which jarred me out of my suspension of disbelief. Aside from these distractions, the book is reasonably executed and an entertaining light read.

Summary: Strange concept
Review: I want to enjoy books I read and also be intellectually stimulated. This book delivered in both areas. If there had been an Atlantis, what would happen if whatever destroyed it-- given it wasn't a natural cataclysm-- came back in our present world? I'm interested in learning more about these 'gates'-- what are they and more importantly, what's on the other side? highly recommended.

Summary: Atlantis + Cambodia = Excitement and a Fabulous Novel
Review: The sheer originality of this book is enough to make me recommend it to any serious reader of Science Fiction. The book is about the exploration of the three most peculiar traingular regions on the planet where people, planes, and ships have disappeared without explanation: the Bermuda Triangle, Northwestern Cambodia, and the Devil's Sea.

This novel is a page-turner--even for one who has little knowledge of many of the military acronyms used throughout the story. The actual plot connects the rise of civilisation in Southeast Asia to the fall of Atlantis in the Caribbean. And the main character Dane is a regular man who is reminiscent of an X-men character through his ability to sense danger and communicate in a semi-telepathic manner.

Perhaps I loved this book the most because of my own experience in Cambodia. I recommend looking at some pictures of Angkor Wat while reading this book to get the full impact of the power and beauty created of the 800 AD civilisation. It will be easy to see why the author chose this region of the world and will add to the reading experience. But even without the pictures the novel's plot has a number or unique twists and turns that maintains the mystery and intrigue of the entire story and keeps you riveted until the last...what IS going to happen next?

I highly recommend giving this book a through read--especially when keeping in the back of your mind that the second book is already available! I can't wait to see what happens next...

Summary: A fast-paced thriller--man meets the supernatural.
Review: This story has little character development but is paced so well it doesn't matter. The plot carries the story from the dawn of time to the present where it culminates in a suspenseful series of scenes that will leave the reader wanting a sequel. The only flaw, in my opinion, is the amount of technical/military jargon, but that might be a plus for some readers.

Summary: A good book, but not about Atlantis
Review: True, this was a easy, fast read, but I was disappointed that it contained no information about Atlantis. This title must have been chosen to sell the book. In contrast, "Atlantis: Insights From a Lost Civilization" by Shirley Andrews is currently providing me with facts and thoughts about Atlantis.

Summary: Exciting and fast paced
Review: I read this on a flight to London and it made the trip go by quickly. I found the premise for the story quite intriguing and the action riveting.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Uninteresting, and error-ridden
Review: This book was one of the worst books I have ever read. No. I take that back. It was THE worst I have ever read. The plot was predictable, except for the addition of some random nonsense. I noticed numerous distracting errors while reading it, and while I am no English teacher, they were bothersome, and surprising for an apparently well-published book. The story was unengaging, and though the premise was good, and bore the makings of a great story, (Atlantis, Aliens, and Asia - how can it get better?) the author managed to slaughter it by turning the whole thing into an overly-dramatized, yet boring story. An unfortunate occurrence. The characters were inhuman, and their dialogue unreal. I would not under any circumstances recommend this book, and although the cover boasts a quote that says, "You'll wonder if it could be real," I saw nothing realistic about the writing here.

Summary: Spectacular and thought-provoking at the same time!
Review: Is there an alien connection with the lost city of Atlantis? How does the ancient city in Cambodia of Angkor Kel fit in? This exciting novel penned by the author of many names(Bob Mayer aka Greg Donegan here!) is the start of a new series and attempts to answer these questions, among many more about the world's mysteries. In the story, which begins with aircraft disappearing in the Bermuda Triangle in 1945 and then a strange alien encounter with a special forces unit despatched to Angkor Kel to recover a crashed reconnaissance aircraft occurs during the Vietnam war. Move forward to the present. Another plane, a privately-owned geological survey jet, crashes in the same spot. As communications are blacked out by strange signals, a special forces unit led by Eric Dane, survivor of the Vietnam encounter is sent there by the President. Not only that, signals are being bounced off satellites all round the globe which arer believed to be too advanced for human technology! Military action buffs and sci-fi fans will love this introductory novel to a new series, and to those who gave it one star, give it a chance. The prose is easy reading, the narrative fast-paced and the technologies are explained in the least amount of detail so as anybody can understand, which in this type of novel is fine. And this comes highly recommended.
