Rating: Summary: If I ever needed a defense lawyer I want this guy! Review: I thought Jennifer was guilty until I read the awesome summation from Mr.Bugliosi.
Rating: Summary: Gripping at first Review: The first half of the book which describes the very interesting "characters" was very exciting and interesting. I found the courtroom banter dull and I even skipped through some of it. Worth the money, for the first half alone.
Rating: Summary: Welds you to the chair. Window into the lawyers mind. . Review: From my perspective (a practicing criminal trial specialist, having tried notorious criminal cases and one which captured the eyes of the national media, (Eric Douglas Trial)I can say that this book does it all. Most impressive is the way Bugliosi spells out every detail of his thought process and his trial arguments. The reader feels privileged to know how the completely candid, borderline egomaniacal, Bugliosi, thinks about the case, the characters and the defendant. This is a master's manual on how to try a case, and the excruciating work it takes to win one.
Rating: Summary: First part good Review: The first part of _And the Sea Will Tell_ is engrossing and spooky: the troubled boyfriend, the ditsy girlfriend, the yacht-class couple, the nasty little island, the disappearance. But the courtroom portions become a bit tedious. I disagree with the book's cover that the ending was "stunning." Despite Henderson's efforts to make it suspenseful, the last 1/3 of the book was predictable.
Rating: Summary: A fascinating tale well told by Mr, Bugliosi. Review: This is a haunting and unpredictable story, very well written, as is standard for the author. I did lose much respect for him, however, as I do believe that "Jennifer" is just as guilty as her friend, and she found freedom she doesn't deserve only through the efforts of a very competent and wily attorney.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put it down! Review: This is a terrific book that has me hooked on true crime. I am constantly looking for more info on the story. It reads so much like fiction, you have to keep going back and looking at the pictures to bring it back in sight that it really happened.
Rating: Summary: The Absolute Best of My Reading Frenzy Review: I have been on a reading frenzy since discovering Amazon a few months ago (I finally bought some Amazon stock since I'm pouring so much money into the company). This book has grabbed me and threatens to take over my life. I am only half-way through and wonder what I'll do when I finish. Right now I am at work and thinking about leaving early so I can go home and read it. I probably should have waited until I finished the book to review it, but I couldn't wait to put my five stars on it. Vince, you better come through with an ending that satisfies. Who would ever read fiction when true stories are so fascinating?
Rating: Summary: Engrossing book I bet you'll read more than once! Review: If you liked the author's other books such as "Helter Skelter", you'll like this book as well. It's an engrossing book from start to finish. Even the last portion which focuses on the actual trial is interesting, and also has some suspense to it. All and all, the book is rich with details and is one of the best true crime stories I have ever read.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT. I'VE READ THIS BOOK THREE TIMES Review: DONT START THIS BOOK UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE UP ALL NIGHT. WELL WRITTEN AND A DEFINITE PAGE TURNER.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding...mesmerizing...quite convincing Review: I have become somewhat obsessed with reading everthing I can on this true murder mystery. I have read ...And the Sea Will Tell approximately 5 times. After the first time, I disagreed with Mr. Bugliosi and thought that "Jennifer" (not her real name) was guilty just like Buck. But after re-reading it and watching the movie many times, I too, have concluded that "Jennifer" is innocent. I am a criminal justice student and my decision was based on the fact that Muff's body was dumped in the lagoon. Why were the bodies dumped there? Because Buck was the one who committed the crime, not "Jennifer". And since she did not know the Graham's true fate, Buck could not dump the bodies in the Pacific as that would have required loading the bodies on the Sea Wind or the Iola where he could have been caught by "Jennifer". The only logical conclusion is that "Jennifer" did not know of the grisly nature of the crime. If she knew and/or participated in the murders, why would they dump the bodies in the lagoon with the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean available to them? Dumping the bodies in the Pacific would have assured them that the bodies most likely never would have been found. Secondly, why take a chance and remain on the island under the pretext of searching for the bodies when another traveler could have happened upon them at any time? I think the only thing "Jennifer" was guilty of was being naive about life and picking the wrong men. Being naive does not a killer make. This book is excellent for the heart pounding reading it provides, and the rest of us to see our criminal justice system at work.
