Summary: Loved it, loved it, loved it!
Review: This is the best one yet! Reichs has out done herself! This is a thrilling read for late at night. I enjoy Reichs' books because not only does she write about her characters with real emotion and human frailities, she also gives them real strength and loyalities that are very true to life. She also writes about complicated forensic methods, yet takes the time to fully explain how this information is important in solving the puzzles. The investigation into the jet crash scene and the mystery about the lone foot found near the crash sight are interwoven in a fantastic way that keeps you involved.

I couldn't put this one down! It grabs you, and won't let go until you are finished.

Summary: More of the same, please!
Review: Highligts: VERY interesting plot - many twists and turns and an unexpected ending. In Tempe Brennan, Kathy Reichs has created a very good character - self-deprecating, funny, human and vulnerable. She is the sort of person you could meet in real life, unlike Kay Scarpetta! The change of setting from Canada also made a change! Lowlights: Plot was maybe too complicated, with too many red herrings. Required two chapters at the end to explain everything! Reichs has stretched the on-off relationship with Ryan for four books now!

Summary: Non-Stop Suspense--the best yet!
Review: Kathy Reichs' fourth book in the series about forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan is the best yet. Following two plot lines, the action never stops. Tempe investigates the circumstances surrounding a horrific plane crash in North Carolina and the mysterious disappearance of several residents of a nearby small town. As the stories come together, she must fight not only for her professional reputation but for her life in a action-filled climax. A top-notch series by forensic anthropologist Reichs.

Summary: High on forensics
Review: Temperance Brennan, a forensic anthropologist, is summoned to the scene of an accident. An Air TransSouth flight has crashed in the mountains of North Carolina killing all eighty-eight people on board. Near the accident scene Tempe finds a foot with no other body parts around it. It turns out this foot does not belong to anybody on the plane. From who’s body does this foot originate? Why are people trying to stop her investigation?

As Kathy Reichs takes you on this highly detailed investigative ride, you’ll learn much about forensics and science on the way. I like that. To be both entertained and educated. I did learn just a little more than I needed to about VFA’s (volatile fatty acids), but it was fun anyway. Overall this was a good medical and forensics procedural with a lot of neat information.

A word of advice: If you get a death threat, it’s best not to go running at night, even if you do have a dog.

Inside the covers:

Fee-fi-fo-fum, I smell the blood of an Englishman. Be he alive or be he dead, I’ll grind his bones to make my bread.

Summary: Fine Thiller
Review: As a mystery author with my initial novel in current release, I genuinely enjoy the works of Kathy Reichs. In FATAL VOYAGE,Tempe Brennan, a forensic anthropologist, is serving as a member of an investigating team searching through the remains of a plane crash. Complications arise. No signs of two passengers can be found, and an extra body seems to be at the crash site. Tempe finds her professional reputation challenged, and she finds herself involved in crimes stretching back decades. Ms. Reichs keeps her plot moving swiftly, and her characters are interesting and vividly drawn. FATAL VOYAGE is another terrific book written by Kathy Reichs.

Summary: grisly side of forensics
Review: The plane crash in the back wooded mountains of Swain County North Carolina is brutal as body parts are severed and tossed everywhere and with all eighty-eight people on board dead. The first non-sheriff department person to arrive at the grisly scene is Dr. Temperance Brennan, a forensic anthropologist working for the Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team. Tempe has worked several nasty scenarios, but this one may be the worst yet as the nightmare turns potentially personal. She learns that the TransSouth Air plane carried the University of Georgia men and women soccer teams and some fans, which could include her daughter visiting a player. However, she soon finds out that her daughter is not on the deceased list.

As Tempe works along with other Feds, state and local officials, she finds a leg that does not belong at the site. She begins to investigate the extra body part, but soon is fired for “officiously” showing her interest in the limb. Desiring to regain her reputation shattered by the spin-doctors, Tempe continues her investigation in spite of pressures from high officials in the state and threats to her life.

FATAL VOYAGE, the fourth Brennan tale, is a powerful story that brings to life the grisly side of forensics at a disastrous crash site without allowing the details to overwhelm a strong plot. The story line is exciting, but the tale belongs to the heroine whose feelings run the gamut of human emotion during the novel. Kathy Reichs has written a terrific novel that will send the audience seeking the previous Brennan stories that are also well written, but not quite as great as this one is....

Summary: Should be on the top ten.
Review: This is the fourth book in this series, so I expected the quality of this one to go down. This was not the case at all. Reichs weaves a tale that keeps you hooked from first page to last, and yes, I read it all in one sitting. She is a terrific writer, conveying every emotion felt by her well-developed characters. She doesn't condescend to her audience, keeping her explainations of technical details interesting without losing the reader or boring them to tears. I like these novels much better than Patricia Cornwell's latest efforts. I am so pleased that I spent my valuable spare time reading this book instead of some other. I would have given it five stars, but there is a little too much coincidence in this one. I heartily recommend this book, and I can't understand why it is not in the top ten!

Summary: I'm ready for the next one, Ms. Reichs!
Review: After plowing through this book, I've decided it's my new favorite Tempe Brennan adventure. (Death Du Jour was my prevoius favorite.) The detail on the crash investigation was very interesting and added to the overall effect of the story. Kathy Reichs explains the science used by her characters, rather than just making a general statement like "she looked into it." The reader gains an understanding of what really goes on in police/forensic investigations.

After his virtual absence in Deadly Decisions, Ryan is back in full wisecracking force. While I spent most of the book wishing Tempe would just stop her dancing around and make some sort of decision about him, she seems to lean toward that in the end, but I've taken that bait before. So, when does the next book come out?

Summary: WATCH OUT CORNWELL!! REICHS IS BACK & BETTER THAN EVER!
Review: Yeah, after reading "Fatal Voyage," I honestly believe that Kathy Reichs is a better writer than Patricia Cornwell. Both Temperance Brennan & Kay Scarpetta are similar and strong characters (except maybe in "Black Notice"), but I would say that Brennan is more realistic and more enjoyable to read about. I found "Fatal Voyage" to be extremely different then Reichs's previous novels. Mostly Brennan is in the morgue cutting up and doing an autopsy on ONE person. In "Fatal Voyage," an aircraft has crashed in the mountains outside of Virginia, taking down an entire school club organization with it. Tempe has to sift through hundreds of bodies and plane wreckage to try and determine if the crash was an accident or a deliberate act of murder. Authorities claim that the crash was deliberate and try to determine if the passengers had any major enemies. Most of their investigation turns up nothing and leave the investigators stumped. Brennan, along with her secret love from previous novels, accidently stumble upon some shocking news about the local town around the crash site. She discovers that there were an extremely high amount of deaths over the last ten years. As she investigates more she gets uncomfortable feelings from the local townspeople that she discovered something secretive about the town. The ending of "Fatal Voyage" was extremely surprising as the story took off on two different directions. The question for us Cornwell/Reichs readers is: Will "Isle of Dogs" be better than "Fatal Voyage?" I guess we'll have to wait until October 8 to find out!....

Summary: A great find!
Review: This is the best yet! I couldn't put it down! From the very first page I was struck. If you like mysteries then this is the book for you....be careful around bedtime as this book will keep you up until you finish it!
