Rating: Summary: If you like forensic science.... Review: Kathy Reichs absolutely understands the balance between keeping the reader interested with a complex plot, and describing the technical details of Forensic Anthropology. I always enjoy her books and this one was no different. She weaves a story that takes us along with her. You find yourself peeling away the onion to get to the final answers. A must read if you like the Patricia Cornwell/Kay Scarpeta genre.
Rating: Summary: Another superb writing Review: FATAL VOYAGE Kathy Reichs PUBLISHER: Simon & Schuster REVIEWED BY: Barbara RhoadesBOOK REVIEW: Kathy Reichs has done it again---another GREAT Tempe Brennan adventure. As a forensic anthropologist, Tempe finds herself involved with an airliner crash. Unfortunately, while looking for the scattered body parts from the crash, she discovers a foot that doesn't belong to anyone on board. Lucy Crow, a local sheriff, a dog named Boyd and Tempe find themselves embroiled in a depraved story, the outcome of which is utterly shocking. Andrew Ryan is also there to help as his partner was aboard the airliner. Tempe's life is even put in danger when she gets too close to the answer. The story of the FATAL VOYAGE is one that you won't want to put down until you get to the end! Be sure to get a copy for yourself and a friend.
Rating: Summary: A little less detail and a little more romance please Kathy! Review: I really liked this book. Although heavy on the foresic detail, it kept my attention and kept me guessing to the end. Unlike Cornwells later novels, it still focuses a lot of the forensic science which is good. HOWEVER, and I hope Kathy is listening, GIVE US MORE ANDREW RYAN!!!! He made short and unsatisfying appearances in this book. I kept waiting for them to have it out regarding his disappearance from her life in the LAST novel but they didn't. Kathy Reichs gave me hope though at the end implying in the next novel there will be a romance. These characters are so good together, I hope that is the case. -Mostly satisfied reader from California
Rating: Summary: ....take your time with this one.... Review: Kathy Reichs has definitely found her stride with this latest installment featuring forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan. Centering around the investigation of a plane crash in the North Carolina mountains that leaves her career in virtual ruins, it has a rapid fire plot and a twist that is eyebrow raising. However, Reichs is able to keep it all skillfully wound together without venturing into the realm of absurdity. Reichs draws ever so slightly from her previous novel Deadly Decisions as way of explanation when detective Andrew Ryan appears on the scene of the crash that Brennan is investigating. Ryan's role in the story is a definite welcome for those readers who would have liked to have seen more of his character in Reichs' previous novel. Ryan and Brennan continue to walk the line between professionalism and romance and Reichs draws out the "will they" or "won't they" aspect of their relationship to the delight of some readers and the frustration of others. Reading this novel is akin to being dropped off a cliff. The minute the first page is turned it becomes a struggle to not finish in one sitting. The only time the freefall slows down is when Reichs chooses to delve a bit too deeply into forensic anthropology and how it all relates to various aspects of the storyline. Despite the necessity of including the information, it is too much like being a captive audience member at a university lecture. Despite this ever so small snag, be forewarned: if you do not take your time with this newest offering by Kathy Reichs, you will be kicking yourself for at least a year as you wait for Temperance Brennan and Andrew Ryan to make their next appearance.
Rating: Summary: Just OK! Review: This is the first book I've read by Kathy Reichs. Having read all the favorable reviews...prior to reading Fatal Voyage, I was really looking forward to an exciting, suspenseful story. While the plot starts off strong and, for the most part, held my interest, I was expecting much more. I'd describe the suspense tepid, the characters only moderately interesting and the climax just mildly satisfying. Overall, by the time I approached the final quarter of Fatal Voyage, I was more interested in finishing the book than caring a lot about how it ended. Overall, Fatal Voyage is not a bad book -- it's just average. I will read another Reichs book but not in the near future.
Rating: Summary: OK Review: Not one of her best, but still much better than Patricia Cornwelll's latest books.
Rating: Summary: It left me wanting more Review: The plot was good as with the other novels in the series and the character development continues. It just didn't continue the way I wanted. I want Andrew Ryan to get off the anthropology boat and make some serious moves on our Temperance. I'm also a little tired of the motorcycle bad guy stuff. I'm ready for Temperance to go to Egypt or someplace like that. I mean just think of all those mummy bones she could apply her forensic knowledge to. And it's loaded with mystery. Perhaps there, Andrew Ryan and Temperance could finally, actually enjoy the hot romance I've been waiting and waiting and waiting for. I suppose I'm spoiled by the "in death" J.D.Robb (aka Nora Roberts) series. The romance doesn't have to be the end of the book; it can be the beginning of a great ongoing series. All in all a good read, but more romance please.
Rating: Summary: Bravo Reichs Review: You have done it again & with such great style. I have read all her books and this one is the best. I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend this book to all Mystery readers. I look forward to the next one.
Rating: Summary: Another great one for Reichs fans Review: This is classic Reichs, with a bit more of an involved plot than usual. I'm personally tired of the should-I or shouldn't-I with Andrew Ryan, but all the usual features are there for Reichs fans--She's sorting bones and she finds something fishy. This is the stuff that you stay up late reading.
Rating: Summary: Fatal Voyage Review: Although Fatal Voyage is not for the faint at heart, it is, as usual for Kathy Reichs, a story worth reading. Kathy shows a very human side in her sense of timing, humor and the ability to engage the reader in aspects other than the intense plot she has created her story around. Her depictation of forensic anthropology is a very exciting and interesting subject. I look forward to each new addition in her Temperance Brennan series, and heartly recommend them to my mystery loving friends. As a mystery junkie, Kathy Reichs is an author I can buy without wondering if it will be cast aside without completion.
