Rating: Summary: THE HOUSE IN THE LAKE Review: "Under the Lake" is one of Woods' earlier books, written long before his Stone Barrington series. We have a house that was buried when a rich developer decided to put in a lake; we have lots of incestuous relationships; we have a washed up reporter who takes on the autobiography of a chicken-chain store magnate; an undercover reporter out to expose a corrupt cop; a family of psychics who know everything; the ghost of a little girl who once lived in the now subterranean house; and all this in the little borough of Sutherland, Georgia. The critical endorsements by such authors as Stephen King indicate that this is "one of the most frightening books ...ever read..". I expected a lot more out of it, but once you get through the whole thing, you can look back on it and say it's a worthy ghost story. Some of the dialogue and situations are very strained, but there are a few surprises and plot twists that I did not expect. Not the chiller it claims to be, but worth a rainy night reading.

Rating: Summary: Unexcelled! Review: "Under the Lake" was Stuart Woods` best book. I read it at least 4 times and I`m thrilled by it each time I read it again. Tried to read his other books, but they are disappointing compared with "Under the Lake". Did anybody read "The big Picture" by Douglas Kennedy?
Rating: Summary: Kept me awake ! Review: Great book ! It made me buy more books from this great suspense /mystery writer. I recommend this book to anyone into the genre .
Rating: Summary: No the best but is good Review: I am an argentinian men so I couldn't read all woods books. this is the last i have read and i think that it could be better. i am not saying that the book is bad, i like it. i like this sensation of gothic and terror. i think that this book is not the best ( i prefer grass roots, heat, or dead eyes, santa fe rules or white cargo) but is better than L.A times or new york dead.

Rating: Summary: OK...COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER.... Review: I am not saying in the least that I did NOT like this book..in fact, I did. The problem was that I thought the plot to be way too unbeievable...and it really was not formed... I mean a town under a lake?!?!? To put it bluntly...it was weird!!! As a matter of fact, after reading this book, at first I was hesitant to read another one of Mr. Wood's books, but since I did not hate this book, I decided to give him another one of his books a try. Hopefully it works out....if not oh well...nothing lost...nothing gained.
Rating: Summary: Spooky-But Terrific as Usual Review: I bought this as an audio cassette to listen to while driving on a long trip. Kept me totally enthralled and awake. Even my husband, who hates these kinds of books, got caught up in it. It is a must read for Stuart Woods fans. It is very different than most of his more glitzy novels but I loved it!
Rating: Summary: Not My Favorite Woods' Novel At All! Review: I did not think that "Under The Lake" lived up to the other novels by Stuart Woods. Maybe it was because Stone Barrington wasn't in them. I actually thought the plot was strange and did not turn out all too well. My favorites are Worst Fears Realized and Orchid Beach. If you want a Stuart Woods' novel, don't pick this one.
