Rating: Summary: The best alphabet mystery yet! Review: I have read all the Kinsey Milhone mysteries and I found this book most entertaining. Gaining more personal insights to a character I have followed for so long was very interesting to me. This book had a long list of characters but each attributed to the plot and kept the reader guessing how they all relate. The events flowed in a timely manner and the ending tied up all loose strings. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Rating: Summary: Welcome back, Kinsey Review: I admit it -- I'm an unabashed fan of this series. That said, I liked this installment even better than "N." The character development that makes this series so good is here, of course. But this one also features a highly original plot. I was surprised by the climax and unexpectedly moved by the ending.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing! Review: I've really come to enjoy Sue Grafton's mystery series. But this one was a big disappointment! I felt like it kept repeating the same information over and over. Usually I love to buy hardback copies; this is one time I shouldn't have wasted my money.
Rating: Summary: A little disappointing.... Review: but I love Kinsey so much and have waited so long for this book ! I don't mind that she is in a time warp in the 80's, this is a good thing, she is forced to get out there and track down clues, break into those homes, etc. and we get to watch over her shoulder. What, you want to watch her staring into a computer screen throughout the whole book? I did find that the story did drag a little with all those visits to the bar; I felt her second husband was a much more interesting character than this cop she married when very young, why was she carrying a torch for him when we never heard about him before? Not that I'm a huge fan of Henry and Rosie, but they were certainly given short shrift. This book did have a sort of perfunctory feel to it, not one of the best. however, as a lifelong fan, I welcomed it and certainly look forward to the books to follow! Thank you, Sue Grafton! Don't bring Kinsey into the 90's too soon, her work on foot is so much more interesting than if she had just pounded a few buttons on a keyboard!
Rating: Summary: Kinsey's past almost catches her! Review: The latest Kinsey Milhone volume gives us a LOT more history and interesting insights into a character not as familiar as we had thought. As she is informed of a dramatic incident involving her first husband, Kinsey jumps back into her past and learns much about her old relationships and her former cohorts. As usual, she finds out who did what to whom by the end of the volume, although she keeps us guessing--and as usual, at least most of the bad guys end up dead and some of the characters look better than expected. An excellent read, and leaves us wanting to see what will happen with P.
Rating: Summary: A GOOD BOOK Review: Although I thought this was a good book, I did find that the characters were weak. It was hard to put yourself in any of their places. But the story line was good. If you want to read a book that goes straight to your heart, read Stolen Moments by Barbara Jeanne Fisher. . .It is a beautiful story of unrequited love. . .for certain the love story of the nineties. I intended to give the book a quick read, but I got so caught up in the story that I couldn't put the book down. From the very beginning, I was fully caught up in the heart-wrenching account of Julie Hunter's battle with lupus and her growing love for Don Lipton. This love, in the face of Julie's impending death, makes for a story that covers the range of human emotions. The touches of humor are great, too, they add some nice contrast and lighten things a bit when emotions are running high. I've never read a book more deserving of being published. It has rare depth. Julie's story will remind your readers that life and love are precious and not to be taken for granted. It has had an impact on me, and for that I'm grateful. Stolen Moments is written with so much sensitivity that it made me want to cry. It is a spellbinder. What terrific writing. Barbara does have an exceptional gift! This book was edited by Lupus specialist Dr. Matt Morrow too, and has the latest information on that disease. ..A perfect gift for someone who started college late in life, fell in love too late in life, is living with any illness, or trying to understand a loved one who is. . .A gift to be cherished forever.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not the best Review: I truly enjoy the alphabet series and so when Sue Grafton came to our area to sign copies of "O is for OUtlaw" my wife and I were thrilled. (She has beatuiful, almost caligraphy, handwriting). The book is thoroughly entertaining but I get caught up in the details. One of the victims, a Vietnam vet, apparently dies of a suddural hemorrhage (brain hemorrhage), called a "time bomb" in the book. This should have been a subarachnoid hemorrhage, something the author should have asked her experts about, or her editor should have picked up on. I caught a couple of others, too. Has Ms Grafton lost her energy? I hope not. "O" is better than "M" and "N". I await "P" eagerl and hope her proofreaders don't let her down.
Rating: Summary: I loved this book! Review: This book is one of the best that she has written. It was amazingly funny. I can,t wait until her next installment. I love this woman
Rating: Summary: The heroine "Kinsey" is on such an ego trip ! Review: I dislike Kinsey immensly. She is so immersed in herself. She hates her relatives for what reason I have never figured out.Struggled really hard to finish this book.At page 46 I was so sick of her self indulgence. Yuk ! Get a life, Kinsey
Rating: Summary: This was Sue Grafton's best book yet. Review: F is for Fugitive was the first book that i read in this series. It got me hooked instantly! In a matter of months i finished A through N and I couldn't wait for O to come out. It finally did and i think that it is the best one yet.
