Summary: Entertaining
Review: Clive Cussler once said that he was an entertainer, no more, no less, and that is exactly what he is. FLOOD TIDE deals with many plot elements that are neatly woven together and is topical, too, since it deals with Chinese laborers being exploited, as has been in the news lately. FLOOD TIDE is a true page-turner. It is the best suspense thriller I've read since Craig Furnas's THE SHAPE: A NOVEL OF INTERNATIONAL SUSPENSE. (THE SHAPE is actually better, a 10+. It is available through Amazon.com). Dirk Pitt is his heroic self with a sense of humor, and the climax is as good as the ending of any Cussler novel.

Summary: Cussler's "Riptide" is pretty typical but well worth it.
Review: There is only one small flaw in"Riptide." I hope that I was not the only one to spot it. In the first chapter, Cussler has the bad guy's ship arriving near Seattle on the "northeastern" coast of the US. If you can get by this one mistake the rest of the book moves fast. Dirk Pitt is getting old but he can still handle the super bad guys with the the best of them.

Review: This one is it!!!!! WOW!...this is the best one since 'cyclops'...actualllly this is a rare treat since you reallllly get 3 books in one....most authors would've gotten their money's worth and done that...strung out 3 books out of this one reallllly fine one....511 pages of vintage cussler writing and i could've read another 200 pages at least!!! cussler, please keep julia around....i think it's time for good old bachelor dirk to sorta settle down a bit...and julia is it!!!! i just hope that whenever another dirk pitt movie is made that you'll consider the mac guyver tv guy....he's the one i always picture whenever i read about dirk....i completely agree with all the previous "10" rating reviews....as to the 'other' ones ...did they all read this same book????? if so, why did they bother....obviously, they're newcomers not part of the dirk pitt fan club.....hurry up with the next one....this is definitely on the top of my list!!!!

Review: When I saw the book in my bookstore, I coulnot believe my eyes. I immediately bought it and read as soon as possible. Dirk & Al were again perfect and this time it was not only 'our two' but also Sandecker having problems with the government officials...Buy and read it...a classical clive cussler novel...you cant chance to miss....

Review: Is there a better action/adventure writer, anywhere? NO!!! Hollywood needs to consider a series of Dirk Pitt movies. The lines at the theaters would go for miles. Tom Selleck as Dirk Pitt, and Robert Forster as Giordino. I read and re-read Cussler's books, for obvious reasons.

Review: This is vintage Cussler. Who else could take Mainland Chinese, the Peking Man, a ship sunk before World War II, the Imigration and Naturalization Service, the Louisiana Bayous, and the course of the Mississippi River, and weave them into a plot that is worth reading? Well shoot, Cussler can do it with STYLE! If you have never read a Dirk Pitt story, this is a good start. If you have read him before I don't have to tell you how good he is. Cussler tells a good story, writes a good book, and presents characters that are completely and fully painted. You are in no doubt of his characters or where they are coming from. They are big (some bigger than life), bold, and compelling. He writes a story you want to read: Want to read. Very highly recommended.

Summary: Underwater Indiana Jones
Review: First it is a good read, it is set in interesting places (scenic northwest, Mississippi swamps / river, great lakes) and talks about interesting activities (Illegal Alien Smuggling, Ultramodern new harbour, Navigating the Mississippi, Navigating the Great Lakes, treasure recovery). However, after quick-reading the book, my impressions were too much like those of an Indiana Jones movie: quick action with the barest link between the scenes and a sense of outrageous disregard for even the most basic credibility. Dirk Pitt is too much the unkillable archetypal hero, with an archetypal "Sancho Pansa" sidekick and a loveable Dulcinea of Chinese descent. The archetypal villain Fu Manchu (Qin Shang) and his lieutenant are also true to type. For all these same reasons I would bet this will quickly become a script-book for a successful movie.

Review: Cussler continues to astound with depth of characterization, plot realization, and melodic prose. The Pitt Saga is a gem of American literature and Cussler a true Master.
