Summary: Another Great Read from Lisa Gardner
Review: Lisa Gardner captivated me with her first novel. This, her fourth novel, is her best yet. Here she has weaved two mysteries into one. Each story could have been a separate book, but it is so much more interesting to see them in one. I found the women's characters to be thoroughly interesting and more importantly to me, real to life. The end of the book demonstrated the importance of the Survivors Club and the growth of the three characters. I eagerly await #5.

Summary: Hard to put down!
Review: This was only the second of Lisa Gardner's books that I have read, and I will definintely be looking for more. I read into the wee hours of the night. It was simply terrific!

Summary: We could all use Griffin on our side
Review: I liked this book a lot. I especially liked Griffin, Fitz and Waters. The women were not especially interesting which is surprising because of the name of the book. But the three guys were very good characters that I kept wanting to know more about. I would recommend the book, but would wait for paperback. I just don't recommend too many books with hardcover prices. Griffin and Waters were great characters and could use a story of their own in the future.

Summary: What more can be said?
Review: Everyone has said the same words over and over - this book was fantastic! I read it in a day and a half and found myself spooked while reading it. I don't know how she will be able to top this. I would definitely recommend this book, but keep lights on and doors locked.

Summary: EXCELLENT READ
Review: I just spent my Sunday engrossed in this book. I even took it with me while I walked the dog. It is a book you can not put down and it delivers from pg one to the end. It teaches about rape without being whiny and has a great ending without being sappy. Characters are well defined and you can relate to them and their frailities. A totally satisfying mystery.

Summary: Actually a 3 1/2
Review: I would give this book a five for the plot. It was unique, mesmerizing with a lot of twists and turns.

That said, I had two problems with this book.

First, each chapter kept jumping to a different character. I enjoy books that write from the viewpoint of a few different people. But this one kept going back and forth with over a dozen characters.

Which brings me to my second problem. The characters. They weren't particlarly well developed. And some of them, such as Jillian and Dan, not particularly likeable. After what happened to Dan's wife in their own house, you'd expect him to stay home once in a while. I admired Jillian for not wanting to be a victim. However, she thought she knew what was best for everyone and never stopped long enough to see if she was right or wrong. I couldn't get invested in any of them.

I like Lisa Gardner and especially enjoyed "The Perfect Husband". But I'm sorry I didn't wait for this one in paperback.

Summary: Killer thriller novel gets better by the page...
Review: This was my first Gardner book, but it won't be my last. The villain is brilliant and oh-so-sick; the heroes are brave, troubled, and worth rooting for. The plot twists are unpredictable and clever. As a man, I found the depictions of three rape survivors to be educational as well as moving. The Rhode Island setting is not something you can find routinely in suspense novels, either. This tale presents us with about 18 characters, good, bad, and inbetween, who come off as people with depth. That's not easy to do in a 300-page formula suspense tale. It would make a nice four-hour television mini-series, if those were being churned out anymore. To shorten it to two hours or less might do the book a disservice. It is a Lifetime Cable kind of story, since women battling obstacles is the core of the book, but the chief male character needs his screen time, too, and deserves it. If you like crime novels in general, don't skip this one...it is one of the best in recent years.

Summary: Superb!!
Review: This is one of the best thrillers I've read all year. The pace is awesome and the story very compelling and tense. I couldn't put it down becaue I just couldn't wait to see how it ended. Very, very good read. Ms Gardner has a definite winner here. All the characters hold your interest, especially the rape victims and Detective Griffin. I'd love to read another novel featuring him. I highly recommend this novel. Be prepared to not be able to put it down.

Summary: Five Stars
Review: The Dark Shape creeping through their bedroom; every woman's nightmare. And Lisa Gardner knows this. She has penned a great book about insidous rape. The Survivors Club is about three survivors of a serial rapist, who form a club to help them learn to live with the nightmare and to ensure it doesn't find its way to the "dead case" files. The book is so wonderfully written, the reader may find themselves peering over the top of the book to make sure the Dark Shape hasn't creeped in when they weren't looking! As I read it, I wondered if men would find the book as disturding as women; they don't live with the perpetual fear of rape. But the author's ability to paint the horror so realistically makes it disturbing and frightening for any reader, whether they are a man or woman.

If you wish to read a great, suspenseful book The Survivors Club is for you.

Summary: A Very Scary, Engaging Thriller!
Review: Jillian Hayes, Carol Rosen, and Meg Pesaturo are three women, all from different walks of life, who survived brutal attacks by serial rapist Eddie Como. They form their own version of a support group and call themselves The Survivors Club, under Jillian's leadership. Ironically they become the prime suspects when Eddie is murdered right before his court appearance and his assassin is blown up as he attempts to leave the scene.

Detective Sergeant Roan Griffin wonders if the three women have collectively conspired to carry out their revenge on Eddie, or if someone one wants to make it look as if they did. Roan must deal with the growing complexities of this case, as well as his own personal demons as he confronts the women. After another woman is attacked, there is more controversy and confusion, especially since the killer is now determined to eliminate each member of the Survivors Club. Roan must now pullout all the stops, even if it costs him his career, and possibly his life.

Lisa Gardner is an extraordinary writer. She serves up witty and upbeat dialogue, eclectic characters and complete pandemonium in this book. The Survivors Club is chock full of enough excitement, chills and thrills to exhaust even the most die-hard suspense fans. Don't miss this one.
