Rating: Summary: If your expectation was high, you might want to lower sights Review: If your expectation is another thriller like the 10th Justice, lower your sights. Dead even is a good novel based more on the fictional world, not the real world. Don't try and get more from the book then reading the story. You will just be disapointed.
Rating: Summary: action movie on paper Review: I liked the book. Sure the whole thing is farfetched but very entertaining and a fast read even with its 529 pages. I could easily see it as a good action movie.
Rating: Summary: How do books like this one get published? Review: The author (and publisher) must think their readers are totally stupid. I don't know where the author got some of his court procedures or how he could do any research and get police and DA procedures as wrong as they are portrayed in this book. The DA's in this book were so dumb they deserved to be shot! Totally implausible! Totally ridiculous! It needs a "0" Stars rating!
Rating: Summary: A real page turner!! Review: I admit the story line was a bit unrealistic, but it's a fiction novel. I could not put this book down. Every chapter ended with some cliff hanger that made me want to read more. If you're looking for something entertaining but not too realistic, this is the book.
Rating: Summary: waste of time Review: based upon the hype of Meltzer's other book "The Tenth Justice", I was looking forward to reading "Dead Even",the summary made it look interesting. However, once I get into the actual book, I was wondering if Meltzer had a boat payment due, and wrote this book to make it. The plot sounds contrived, and is ludicrous when executed. The characters are unbeleivable, and after lying to each other for the 9 time, I was really tired of" I swear this is the last time I will lie to you ....". In summary, I have not read such a lousy novel by a "named" author since before I can remember. Save your money.
Rating: Summary: fantastic! enjoyed every page and couldn't stop reading Review: I love court room drama, and a good twist in my mysteries. I really enjoyed this book to the very end. I like Mr. Meltzer's style of writing
Rating: Summary: Very Enjoyable Review: Dead Even was a great book. Although the plot was a little too far fetched, the dialogue was entertaining and the plot kept me guessing. The Tenth Justice was a little more memorable but this was a well written book that assures me that Brad Meltzer is an author that will be around for quite awhile. The comparison to Grisham is inevitable so here's my opinion. Although Grisham's description and characters are more solid and interesting, Meltzer's plots are just about as good. If you want a book that's a fast, easy read pick this one up.
Rating: Summary: Unusual plot and surprise ending Review: After having read all of Grisham's novels, I was wondereing if another lawyer book would be refreshing or just the same old plot. I was pleased with the plot and that is was kind of different - a couple involved in the case. The final scene in the subway was a little much and not very believable. But overall - a good read!
Rating: Summary: Not Bad At ALL!!! Review: I liked the Tenth Justice so I was looking forward to Dead Even. It was a pretty good book, not too deep, but a page turner. My only regret was that it was set in New York. I'm tired of the books in LA and New York. I thought the Tenth Justice was refreshing because it was in Washington DC. Hey Brad, keep it in the District!!
Rating: Summary: CHEESE! Review: This book has the most inane dialogue I have ever run across, and the plot was so Hollywood formulaic and stupid!Maybe Meltzer should write screenplays.
