Rating: Summary: more satisfying than grisham's latest Review: I picked up the 10th justice when it first came out in hardcover and thought "wow". For a new author Brad Meltzer has developed some great stories and characters. I'm just as pleased with his latest novel DEAD EVEN. Great dialog between characters and fast paced enough to keep me turning the pages late at night. I enjoyed it more than the old standard that John Grisham has been churning out lately. Meltzer has some room for improvement but I'm sure his next novel will also find it's way onto my bookshelves.
Rating: Summary: Fast-paced "can't put down" adventure Review: Just like "Tenth Justice," Meltzer provides another exciting, funny thriller with good dialogue and a compelling story. Hard to tell the bad guys from the good. This story requires you to suspend belief a bit (some of the espionage tactics are incredible), but the excitement is nonstop to a truly surprising ending.
Rating: Summary: if you liked the tenth justice... Review: i can't say that dead even is the best work of literature ever written, but you really can't deny that it is extremely entertaining. if you like john grisham, or if you read the tenth justice and liked it, then you will more than likely like this book. i finished it in one day because i didn't want to put it down!
Rating: Summary: Both intense and funny... Review: I sat and read straight through this book- it surprised me with both the intensity at times, and the humor that the author managed to incorporate into it. I found myself laughing aloud at times- This is the first book of Brad Meltzer that I've read- but I plan on going out and getting Tenth Justice and hoping it's just as good- if not better :)
Rating: Summary: This book was great it kept me guessing all the way!! Review: This book was fantastic. It had all the technical lawyer jargon and the excitement to go along with it. I can't wait for his next novel to come out.
Rating: Summary: quick read, difficult to believe premise Review: Clearly Meltzer wanted a different type of ending than Tenth justice. I felt "Tenth Justice" had a crisp, clean ending that left me unsatisfied. This ending is told over several chapters, and actually introduces major pain & suffering into meltzer's characters. I identified with the main (Jared & his wife)characters lifestyles & concerns. I thought it was an up-to-date perspective on my generation (early 30's).
Rating: Summary: Better than the Tenth Justice Review: As with Meltzer's first book, you won't want to put this one down. But this time the plot holds together better, the characters are more interesting and the dialogue is snappier. Meltzer's hitting his stride. If you liked the Tenth Justice, buy this one.
Rating: Summary: The 10th Justice rerun with new characters Review: I actually liked the 10th Justice. Fresh concept, new writer, fun read. However when read #2 comes out to be the same plotline (characters blackmailed to be quiet or else and then pitted against best friends) with the same rush at the end, I was terribly disappointed. Meltzer robbed us on this one! No originality, no new plotline, boring. Shame on him!
Rating: Summary: SLOW SLOW AND WAS MORE LIKE WAR OF THE ROSES Review: THIS AUTHOR NEEDS TO STICK TO THE PRACTICE OF LAW......HE SEEMS TO TAKE PERSONAL SITUATIONS,,,, FAR TO AN EXTREME........EITHER A ROMANCE, OR THRILLER.....I SAY NOT EITHER.
Rating: Summary: different from the tenth justice... and better Review: After the Tenth Justice, I couldn't wait to read Meltzer's next novel. I was not disappointed. Meltzer has truly grown as an author. His characters more developed, the plot finely crafted, the predicaments more suspenseful. I couln't put this book down. The best read of the summer, like the Titanic... on paper...with lawyers...and no icebergs. GET THIS BOOK!!!
