Summary: Incredible Suspense
Review: This book, like all of Carlene Tompsons books, is GREAT! Her style of writing is cut to the chase. I couldn't put this book down. She had me guessing until the very end. Just when you think you know who did it, she throws a curve ball. A MUST READ!

Summary: A GRIPPING AND HIGHLY ABSORBING THRILLER...
Review: This is a terrific novel of suspense, offering the reader a riveting, page turning read. It is hard to put down, once the reader is in its thrall. Well written in spare, clean prose, it will keep most readers guessing until the very end.

The premise is fairly simple. Deborah Robinson, a young woman and mother of an adorable and precocious set of five year old twins, suddenly has the bottom drop out of her world when her husband, Steve, a prosecuting attorney, suddenly disappears without warning. Shortly thereafter, she is stunned to discover that he is suspected of being a serial killer who, for the past eight years, has been killing young women fitting a description that matches hers.

Delving into her husband's past, she uncovers information of which she was previously unaware, which causes her to question just what her husband may really have been hiding. Yet, despite all that she discovers, she believes steadfastedly that her husband is not what he is suspected of being.

At the same time that this is going on, the man who had fifteen years earlier been convicted of brutally beating and raping Steve's sister, Emily, causing her to be institutionalized, is released from prison and believed to be in the area seeking revenge. Does this also have something to do with Steve's disappearance?

Things are not always what they seem, as the reader will discover. There are enough plausible twists and turns in this novel of suspense to satisfy even the most exacting and demanding of readers. This is a gripping read from beginning to end and one of the best of its genre.

Summary: Very good, but easy to figure out
Review: This was my first Carlene Thompson book and I read the whole thing in a day, which is rare for me. I enjoyed the premise and the story, which reminded me of Wendy Corsi Staub.

However, my only problem with this book was the predictability. I knew before I was even halfway through the book who the culprit was, mainly because it was the only person in the book that no one suspected at all -- every other character that it could've possibly been fell under someone's suspicion, and that suspicion was discussed with another character, which is almost a sure sign that they're not the one. Had this not happened, I would've had no clue who did it, been surprised at the end, and given the book five stars.

Summary: An attention keeper
Review: What a great book! Once started I couldn't put it down and had to fight myself to keep from looking to the back. Kept me guessing until the end. This is the second book by her I've read and I can't wait to read more. From the beginning to the end, your attention never wanders away.
