Rating: Summary: Great Review: All of her books are great. One of the best things about her books,is that they are losely set in real towns.
Rating: Summary: Did I read the same book? Review: Carlene Thompson's "The Way You Look Tonight" did not live up to it's interesting premise of a "Dark Alley" serial killer who preys on young, tall, dark haired married women, and a missing husband that happens to be the main suspect in the eyes of the FBI and local police. Unfortunately for the reader, the main character in each of Thompson's books basically follows the same formula; a young attractive victim (of circumstances beyond her control) manages to evade certain death while others around her drop like flies. The other characters are also standard in Thompson's books, the ambivalent friends, the strong male character, and the dopey and ineffectual law enforcement officers. By the time I was 3/4 's of the way through this book, I wished that all of the trite characters would go walking into a dark alley and end their misery (and mine too). I don't recommend this book at all, but if you really feel the need to read a Thompson book, try "Tonight Your Mine" and "In the Event of My Death" instead.
Rating: Summary: Didn't thrill me. Review: I didn't enjoy this novel at all. I'm a quick reader, and it took weeks for me to get through this one because I just wasn't drawn in. The characters are overdramaticized, weak and irritating, and the story drags on. Deborah is not an exciting protagonist by any means - I found myself getting annoyed with her almost immediately. She tries to come off as a strong woman, but she is really just a weak trophy wife trying to convince herself that everything is going to be just fine if she just wishes really hard. I also really disliked the ending, which I felt was thrown together just to find a place to end the story "happily". The events leading up to the ending and the relationship between the characters just weren't compelling enough to have the story end as it does. This is more eye-roller than nail-biter.

Rating: Summary: The Way You Look Tonight. Review: I don't want to list any of the characters for fear of giving away the surprise ending. I have always been a lover of Mary Higgins Clark's suspense novels, but now that I have discovered Carlene Thompson-- my first experience in a book club- I then went to Amazon.com and purchased the other two of her books and am now addicted. Her descriptions of characters and surroundings are very good- and I cannot put her book down until I have finished it. The first selection I read was "Since You've Been Gone. EXCELLLENT mysteries.

Rating: Summary: A Great Mystery Review: I found Carlene Thompson quite by accident, and have been thoroughly pleased with my discovery. She is one of the few writers that can keep me guessing until the end. I love mysteries, and this is definitely a "10".
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good for my first Carlene Thompson book... Review: I found this book to be quite suspenseful. The ending was a real kicker. I am on my Carlene Thompson book. I like a good psychological thriller now and then
Rating: Summary: Very good, but easy to figure out Review: I have 6 of the 7 Carlene Thompson books and have read them all except for Black For Remembrance which i am currently reading. I felt that they were all very good and extremely well writen. I love her books but, i think this one had to have been one of my favorites.
