Review: The Act of Malice is an exciting mystery book for all ages above 12. The book includes some affairs and severe killing, so people who will be offenced by it should choose another book. Other than that, i can not find another reason for you not to start reading The Act of Malice.

Jim had came up with a story of ALex Strong, his brother's death was caused by an accident, which had convinced Nina in the begining As time passes, Nina realized she disliked and even was a bit afraid of Jim strong, her own client. The Act of Malice is a great mystery book. It is one of those books that make you think a lot. And right when you think you know what's going on, you'll realize you're wrong. The book is full of surprises as well as fear, because you never know who the killer is until you get to the end of the book. And even after that, there is still more to it.

Summary: Was it a Skiing Accident or MURDER?!
Review: Tragedy strikes Tahoe. Jim and Alex Strong, brothers of the prominent Paradise Ski Resort family, set out for a friendly ski race. Alex fell over a cliff. Jim himself narrowly escaped death.

The coroner says the death of Alex Strong was no accident. Jim is the number one suspect.

The defendant hires Nina Reilly. In her heart, she believes Jim is innocent, but is puzzled by the Strong family's reaction. They want nothing to do with him.

"Acts of Malice" follows Nina Reilly as she tries to get to the bottom of the case. She complicates matters herself by renewing a past romance with Collier Hallowell--the prosecutor in the Jim Strong case.

Nina is a dedicated lawyer with a good heart. She believes her client is innocent. Unfortunately, when she discovers the truth about Alex's death, such devotion might cost Nina her life. Will the case be solved? Are Nina and her family in danger? The stunning facts are revealed in "Acts of Malice."

When it was released, this sixth installment in the Nina Reilly series was a Main Selection of the Mystery Guild and rightfully so. Pamela and Mary O'Shaughnessy, writing under the pen name Perri O'Shaughnessy combine their talents to provide readers with a great story set in the snowy Lake Tahoe area.

Nina Reilly is a refreshingly normal character. She's smart, pretty and kind, but not so perfect that she's fake. The romance scenes blend nicely into the story and have a sense of purpose rather than being added just for the sake of sex.

Suspense abounds from the beginning of the novel to the end. Fight the urge to read the last page first. Let the conclusion stun you.

As mentioned, there is a series of books featuring Nina Reilly. O'Shaughnessy doesn't provide much background information from the previous installments, but you should have virtually no trouble beginning the series in the middle.

Consider "Acts of Malice" to be an ideal vacation read. O'Shaughnessy knows how to please picky readers. Read this novel and you'll be going back for more, guaranteed.

Summary: Not Much Of A Thriller
Review: In Acts Of Malice, the fifth novel by Perri O'Shaughnessy, Nina Reilly takes on Jim Strong's case. Jim and his brother Alex were skiing when Alex had an accident that left him dead. Jim's family has turned against him and believes he is responsible for the death. Nina prepares to defend Jim, but is doubting whether she believes his story or not. In the meantime, assistant DA, Collier Hollowell returns after being gone from the last book. As always I am once again disappointed in the way Nina can never make her mind up between Collier and Paul, the detective she often hires. In one book, she loves Paul, in the next, it's Collier. Make your mind up already!!! Acts of Malice doesn't have as much twists and turns as O'Shaughnessy's other novels, but can still be a good read if you stick with it. The ending is a for sure shock, that I still can't get over.

Summary: What an ending!
Review: The O'Shaughnessy twins are famous for their surprise endings, but to say that this book was full of surprises would be a gross understatement. Just when you think you know where things are going, the authors twist you in another direction. Best book by the authors to date, without a doubt. I could not wait to go out and buy the next book to see how things turned out.

Summary: Expect better from these good authors
Review: Their other books were much better - ok much might be exaggerating a bit. The others were very good whilst this one was just good. Nina Reilly too emotional and soft and rather unbelievable. Hope the next book will revert to the quality we have become accustomed to.

Summary: Northern Exposure meets Family Law
Review: I can see this clearly as a episode of Family Law. Separated mum lawyer in a average cold, snowy town, defending a man on a murder charge who is accused of killing his brother. Not a bad eposide but I hate Family Law and Northern Exposure and I would much prefer to watch The Practise!

This book has got to be one of the worst legal 'thrillers' around. Like Family Law, the actual 'law' part takes a backburner to the relationships that actually happening to the main characters. The opening is good - guy sees his brother ski off a cliff and somehow he is wound up charged for murdering his brother, but the rest of the book, is really about Nina Reily (his lawyer) and what is happening in her life when she is taking a break from defending him. One special moment is Nina's marriage to another lawyer, who happens to be the prosecuting DA in the same trial! Funnily enough, the guy on the murder charge is not really happy about this little arrangement, I wonder why? Hello..realism?

As you plod through the book, you eventually get to the last 10 pages or so when the story does get a bit more interesting (hence the 2 star rating) but by then you really don't care what happens to anybody and the very last 2 pages is even more unbelievable.

I really don't think that I will be reading another book by Perri, I would advise you to do the same unless you like mediocre television shows that don't go anywhere.

Summary: Tough to Put Down
Review: I found a lot of truth in "the Perri's" observations of human nature and legal proceedings. A true legal thriller from a woman's perspective. I stayed awake too late at night, because I couldn't put it down. Very entertaining.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Another typical courtroom book? NOT!!
Review: I must say this has to be O'Shaughnessy's best work yet. I picked this book up thinking it would be just another courtroom book that wouldn't hold my attention for more than five pages. I was all wrong. O'Shaughnessy has put together a modern-day courtroom masterpiece. Well written, with lots of twists and turns to keep you wondering whose telling the truth. A great page turner. There were several times when I found myself up until 3 a.m. reading, not wanting to go to sleep without knowing what will happen next. If you enjoy all of O'Shaughnessy's works, you will love Acts Of Malice. I know I'll be picking up the next Perri O'Shaughnessy book.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Another Solid Performance
Review: This is the fifth of the series I have read and found thoroly (who needs the silent ugh?) enjoyable. Well, almost. The ending seemed more than a bit contrived. But minor carping aside, I really enjoyed this book, and am looking forward to the next in the series.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not their best effort
Review: I was extremely disappointed in this legal "Thriller". I read Breach of Promise and thought it was outstanding, but this one did not come close to matching up. The sub-plots lag and take away from the main story. The book could have been 150 pages less and probably much better. The characters were not particularly well drawn and there was little suspense. If you want a straight LEGAL THRILLER, this is not the book. If you want a legal thriller with some drama and romance, this could be an option for you. At best, with all the good thrillers out there, this one is average.
