Rating: Summary: where was the editor? Review: This is the first book by Ms. Gardner that I've managed to finish, and I don't know why I bothered. The pacing is s-l-o-w as detectives spend pages theorizing motive and possible scenarios for suspects they have no real reason to even suspect. Detectives simply don't do this, and when fictional cops do it...well, it's the closest thing to taking an Ambien! It seems that when Ms. Gardner figured she was near to meeting her page-count, she'd just wrap things up with a couple of conveniences, like having the heroine interview the suspect who's been sitting in juvenile detention (like, why didn't she do this earlier?), and then having the killer simply show up at her doorstep for her. Does this Det. Rainie person even DO any "detection", or is everything handed to her when the author feels it's convenient. I'm sorry, I'm just disappointed when I invest that many pages of reading only to have everything simply handed to the hero or heroine. What's the point? Other reviewers have mentioned the obvious confusion over how the killer even knew about Rainie's "dark secret", so I don't have to mention that obvious flaw. And what's with all the adverbs? Where on EARTH was the editor?
Rating: Summary: The Third Victim Review: This was not as good as "The Perfect Husband". I kept waiting for her to get to the point. Too, much time in between waiting for something to happen. I was disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Unsatisfying, Not Her Best.. Review: Unlike some other reviewers who love everything, this book was NOT a hit for me. I've read Both of Ms. Gardners other books and enjoyed them but this one wasn't great. The suspense part was just ok, wondering who-done-it and especially why. Even the "why" part was a bit shaky. But the "romance" element was basically non-existant and pretty lame. Not the greatest ending I've ever read either (won't say more and ruin it for you). Better luck next time Ms. Gardner.
Rating: Summary: This book makes you think Review: When I saw the advertisement for Lisa Gardner's new novel in People magazine, I rushed out and bought it right away. After reading her 2 previous books, "The other daughter" and "The perfect husband", I knew what to expect. An entertaining journey. Even though this story is fiction, it brought to life some harsh realities of school shooting. Kids killing kids. How do they get to that point, where they have to kill. From the first page to the last it kept me on the edge of my seat. Who is behind the shooting. Why doesn't it all come together? Police officer Rainie Conner and FBI profiler Pierce Quincy (he was introduced in the perfect husband" discover there is more to this school shooting than they originally thought. Someone is out there that helps push kids to do the unspeakable.
Rating: Summary: Riveting! You won't want to set it down. Review: With every turn of the page you get one more piece of the puzzle and two more questions. You won't want to set the book down until you have all the answers.
