Summary: An excellent piece of crime fiction
Review: Wow!! What an excellent writer Ms Scottaline is! This book grabbed me right from the beginning and never let me go! This is a story that revolves around the murder of wife and mother and her husband confesses to killng her...but early on in the piece the reader discovers that he didn't do it and he is trying to protect the killer. But does he know the real story? Why has he hired such an inexperienced lawyer who has never dealt with murder trials before?

Moment of Truth is one of the best crime novels I have read for ages - it is extremely entertaining and has so many twists and turns that you don't see them BUT they all make sense!! And the killer is not a rogue cop - amazing! Luckily, the reader knows who the killer is early into the story but the way that Ms Scottaline's unravels the rest is her real strength, keeping it with excellent characters with strong family values.

I wil definately be getting more of Ms Scottaline's novels, she is an excellent author and this book will keep you up all night!

Summary: Impressed First time Scottoline reader
Review: This is the first of Lisa Scottoline's books I have read and I loved it! I was bored with the usual who dun it. She seemed to let you think that you knew who did it then led you on another path to think that maybe your first impression was wrong. Then when you think you have it all figured out she shows you who really did it. Unpredictable!

Summary: Moment of Truth
Review: -Lisa Scottoline's Moment of Truth is a drawn out legal caper which is too much for one audio presentation. It should use a GOOD abridgement. The saving grace of this audio production is actress Barbara Rosenblat. Her audio talent makes this audio almost palatable. In a sea of drek, her talents are like a diamond in the rough. This audio novel should take a page from Grisham, less is a lot more!

Summary: WOW! Read this book!
Review: Lisa Scottoline is often referred to as 'the female John Grisham'. I think she is better. Fresh off the success of her last novel, Mistaken Identity, Scottoline serves up a heck of a legal thriller. The book starts out with a bang. Attorney Jack Newlin arrives home to find his wife, Honor, dead on the floor. Stabbed. He then decides to make it looks like he has committed the crime, because he is convinced he knows who really did it and is committed to protecting that person. After staging the crime scene to implicate himself, Jack then calls the police--and also proceeds to hire an inexperienced lawyer, Mary DiNunzio, of the Philadelphia firm of Rosato & Associates. This turns out to be a huge mistake for Jack, because although Mary is inexperienced in murder trials, she has passion and heart. She doubts Jack's confession from the beginning and begins to investigate the crime. What she discovers about the crime will keep you turning pages all night long!

Summary: Scottoline has done it again!
Review: Scottoline has another winner. Mary DiNunzio -- a character we've met in some of Scottoline's earlier novels -- handles this one on her own. DiNunzio is a refreshing heroine, who is bright, funny and endearing. I think no matter what the case or conflict, I know I would follow DiNunzio, rooting her on through the entire 300-400 pages. If you like legal thrillers with some humor mixed in with the twists and turns, don't miss this one.

Summary: Gripping and suspensful.
Review: The scene opens with a lawyer trying to frame himself for murder. Just like the cops in the story who are dying to hang a lawyer, I was pulled in to the story line immediately. As a reader, right away questions popped into my mind like, what is he up to? Who is he protecting? Why is he willing to sacrifice himself? Or did he really do it? The detectives are just as curious; one feels it's a "duck" (easy case), and that the lawyer "loves himself" (is guilty), while the other "doesn't like him" (thinks their being played). Also on the case is a DA who lives for courtroom drama and loves putting people away, and the defendant's inexperience lawyer, who everyone underestimates, including herself.

With so many suspense / thrillers being written, it really tests an author's talent to produce a genuine edge gripping, page-turning story line again and again. Ms. Scottoline seems to have that talent. Although the plot was a bit simple for me to solve, the path to getting there was entertaining. In listening to the audiotape, my daughter and I would became so involved to the point we had to either rewind it or turn it off and discuss it. There are scenes and remarks that made us cringe... like the autopsy; but for the most part the twist and turns had us holding our breath is suspense.

As to the audio listening itself, I think a male voice would have been better. Expect a strong storyline with and intense theme and language -- after all it is a Lisa Scottoline thriller!

Summary: Good but Not the Best of this Author
Review: The story's good but, we don't get to know the characters as well as we do in some of Scottoline's other books. It's also helpful if you are familiar with the lady lawyers from her previous books so you know where she's coming from. To be honest, I was somewhat disappointed.

Summary: Families are her speciality...
Review: I adore the character of Mary and her family. My favorite line: "Better get Ma to bed before her hair blows up." I have enjoyed every one of this author's books - the protagonists are fresh without being crude. I like that. They're (sorry, folks, but sometimes it works) cute!

More, more, more. I have to confess that I have listened to these books on tape as read by Barbara Rosenblatt for unabridged Recorded Books, Inc. Ms. Rosenblatt really does Scottoline's books justice, pardon the pun. They lend themselves to being read aloud because the "Philly-talk" is so amusing. Super entertaining!

Oh, another thing I liked was when Mary figured out that she idealized the law and its symbols because she had lost faith in her religion. Still, she is a very good daughter, friend and she stands up for her clients against the odds, so you really admire her. Gutsy woman, and much more fun than grim old Kate Scarpetta. Lisa, I wish I knew you - you must be a riot!

Summary: Thank you for writing your books, Ms. Scottoline!
Review: This was the first Scottoline mystery I read, and I liked it so much that I bought the whole series that preceeds this book. I found Mary DiNunzio to be one of the most believable and likable mystery creations since Nancy Pickard stopped letting readers into the life of her character of Jenny Cain. Scottoline's series has humor, terrifically crafted plot lines, and characters whom the reader will genuine LIKE and care about. In a time of too many "cozies" and too many arrogant heroines (pronouced "Kay Scarpetta"), these mysteries have the perfect balance of serious plot and lighthearted fun.
