Summary: EXCELLENT!
Review: Without a doubt, DERAILED is an excellent thriller! From the first chapter I was hooked and simply could not put it down and didn't want it to end. It's a novel of suspence that has enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time while you're trying to guess what will happen next. It's one of those novels I will keep on a shelf and pull out to read again and again.

Summary: I stayed up until 4 a.m. to finish this thriller
Review: This has to be one of the best books I have read in years. Rarely am I surprised and this book was loaded with twists and turns to keep the story mesmerizing. I hope James Siegel will be a prolific author in the future if this book is any indication of his huge talent!

Summary: Gotta get it! Gripping, emotional rollercoaster, page-turner
Review: INTENSE! Fast-moving, page-turner that will make you a captivated reader. I especially loved the twisted plots and the unforeseen ending of the book. Better than John Grisham's tales, suspenseful as Caleb Carr's "The Alienist" and as entertaining as Janet Evanowich's "Stephanie Plum, Bounty Hunter" series. Looking forward to Siegel's next.

Summary: What a Ride !!!!
Review: From the very first chapter, James Siegel takes the reader on a roller coaster ride of emotion, fear, and anticipation. His presentation of the action as a story-within-a-story was a very interesting and clever approach.

One action in a man's life snowballs into total disaster as Charlie Schine gives in to the temptation of a sexy and alluring stranger on the commuter train.

I kept wondering how much worse Charlie's life could get after the initial brutal scene in a hotel. Well, the answer is, much worse! In his attempt to pay blackmail, protect his family, get his blackmailer, and stay alive, he runs into one wall after another, seemingly with no way out. Going to the police is not an option and he is ill-equipped to handle this situation on his own.

I hated to go to bed because I could not wait to see how this ended. About halfway through the book, I began to have certain suspicions, but time after time, I doubted myself because of the way the story was written.

I would have given the book 4 stars except for the weakness of one thread of the story. I thought that the police case was very weak and based on no real and compelling evidence. Nonetheless, I have no reservations about recommending this book.

Summary: Read one book a year
Review: I read maybe - maybe - one book a year. Saw the commercial and found myself picking it up at the store. Two hours later, I was still in the store reading it. Bought it and couldn't put it down until it was done. I don't normally go in for suspense novels. This is a GREAT read.

Summary: Fans of James Patterson will LOVE this one!
Review: Pick this one up. It's a fast-paced, entertaining, and all-out fun thriller that kept me saying to myself, "one more chapter". That is until about one-quarter of the way through when I found myself saying, "I'm finishing this today."

Sure, there are a few contrived moments, and the plot is a tiny bit predictable in places, but Siegel keeps the story moving with an enjoyable everyman protagonist who just wants to get back on track.

A great ride...

Summary: Not all that and a bag of chips
Review: Well, I will concede disappointment in this novel. I too, read a glowing review and had to read it right away. I read primarily mysteries/suspense novels and I think my expectation level is too high. I saw all the "twists and turns" from a mile away and did not find the ending all that satisfactory. Not to mention, completely improbable.

I agree that the hero was unlikeable and even though he had a right to some of his anger, he did uh, create his own mess. It was hard to feel sympathy for him.

However, I read this book in two days and it was hard to put down even if I wasn't believing in it. That is a testiment to the quality of the writing and the way the novel is set up. I definitely give the author credit for that. (...)

All in all, a fine read but not the glorious suspense thriller its been built up to be.

Summary: A real page-turner with lots of twists.
Review: Charles Schine lives a normal life; he gets up, gets dressed, eats breakfast, kisses his wife and daughter goodbye and then he catches the 8:40 train to his job at a New York advertising agency. One day his entire life will be torn apart when he misses his train and catches the 9:00.

On the 9:00 train Charles meets Lucinda. Lucinda is mysterious and beautiful, sexy and smart, but she too is also married so Charles doesn't see anything wrong with a little harmless flirting...

Charles begins taking the 9:00 train, and each day he and Lucinda get closer and closer, until meeting on the train turns to lunch, and then dinner, and eventually a romantic encounter at a hotel, but in the blink of an eye the romantic encounter turns into a nightmare as the two suffer a sudden act of brutal violence.

Lucinda refuses to go to the police in fear of their affair being discovered, but within a short period of time their lives will dramatically changed. (...)

'Derailed' is a STUNNER! This is a well written, intense novel that will grab you and not let go. The gripping plot is packed with twists and turns galore, and that ending??? What an ending, you will be surprised. 'Derailed' has it all ; complex plot, well-drawn characters, relentless suspense and a shocking climax. This is a thriller of the highest order.

James Siegel has written an amazing thriller, one that will rocket up the best-seller lists and place him alongside other heavy hitting authors in the thriller genre.

Do yourself a favor and read this novel!

Summary: A fantastic suspenseful thriller!
Review: This is the best thriller I've read in years. I was captivated from the very first chapter. It's got enough twists and turns to keep you on the edge throughout the entire story, which ended up being surprisingly short given the fact that I could not seem to put the book down.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a suspenseful thriller. It's going to be to be at the top of my gift list for a while!
