Summary: Better than ever!
Review: Peters does it again, only better than ever. She takes us back to Egypt in a bygone era. She makes you cry in one chapter and laugh out loud in the next chapter. I finished the book with a deep sigh and a very foolish grin on my face. What a wonderful read!

Summary: This book THUNDERS!
Review: This is not just one of the best in the Amelia Peabody series, but the best of Peters' books. Finely and intricately plotted, by a writer who excels in complicated plots. many of the loose ends are brought to a conclusion, just fight the urge to go to the last page to early.

The tongue-in-cheek humor of earlier books is preserved. Peters has also managed to pull off the feat of growing up her characters Ramses and Nefret while not dimineshing the rolls of Amelia and Emerson.

In amongst the fun and suspese a lot of good archelogical ad historical info is despensed. deffinitly worth the hardback price!

I also recomend: "A Tourist in the Yucatan" A mystery/thriller set amongst the ancient Mayan ruins of Mexico!

Summary: Another Great Adventure for Amelia Peabody
Review: Once again Elizabeth Peters out does herself. I thoroughly enjoyed this addition to the series. It's another suspenseful adventure, including a couple of the vial enemies of the past, Sethos and Percy. It involves the younger characters more, which I enjoyed. Their characters have evolved greatly over the years, and I think it is great how they are more involved in the storyline. Amazingly, Emerson is still the Adonis we all imagine him to be, after all these years.

I look forward to the next addition to this series or perhaps an addition to the Vicky Bliss collection.

Summary: Spectacular!
Review: This is one of the best of the series, though I admit that the shock of Falcon made it even better. Amelia is still my heroine -- now I can hardly wait until Barbara Rosenblat makes Amelia, Emerson, Ramses, David, and Nefret come even more vividly to life in the unabridged audiobook! (For those of you who love the series -- you must hear the books read by Ms. Rosenblat!) Thunder in the Sky is a great story, with a moving and surprising plot -- hard to put down!

Summary: Peabody Addict Anonymous
Review: I've been a fan of the Peabody-Emersons for several years now, and have re-read all of the books at least 5 times. And like everyone else, Falcon left me on the edge of a cliff. Thankfully, Thunder brought me back. I arranged my schedule around buying and reading this book, and wasn't disappointed. (and yes, I had to read the last chapter first! ) but even knowing what happened in the end, I still loved every minute of Thunder. I loved the character development between Ramses and his parents -Amelia, who is told by Emerson in Mummy Case to be more demonstrative to her son, shows glimpses her strong feelings for her son through "measured looks" and "berserker rages," but I cried along with her at Ramses's bedside.

As Ramses has grown, so has his friend David (who look enough alike to be brothers) and his "sister" Nefret. Their relationship with each other, and with the Emerson Srs, gets better with each passing book. Even my mom (another longtime fan) commented that one of the best things in Thunder is the characters- Peters has stayed true to her characters, and we see how even in Falcon, she was always true to Nefret.

In Thunder, loose ends are tied up with the characters we have grown to know and love (or hate)- Abdullah, Selim, Sethos, Percy, Wardani, Asslimi, and more. The continuity and foreshadowing - Amelia's famous premonitions- is fantastic from Crocodile on the Sandbank to Thunder in the Sky.

My only hope- in the next book, can we have less international intrigue and more good old-fashioned tomb robber villians? Peters has made characters so strong that they don't need spygames to be riveting- a few of Amelia & Emerson's discussions will do the trick! I have given my copy of the book to my sister to read (my mom has already finished it) so that I won't be tempted to let it interfere with my finals next week, but as you can see I'm such a Peabody Addict that I am here writing my review. As Amelia would say, "Brava!" Ms Peters, you moved me to tears first with Abdullah's death in Ape that Guard the Balance, but Thunder made me cry, laugh out loud, and cheer several times throughout the book. Thank you, once again.

Summary: He Shall Thunder in the Sky
Review: This was a wonderful book! I couldn't put it down and the ending was one of the most satisfying I have ever read. I can honestly say that the Amelia Peabody Emerson series is my favorite ever! Let us all hope that Elizabeth Peters never stops writing about the dautless Emerson family!

Summary: Chapter Closed
Review: Finally, all the questions were answered. This book was however complex; full of surprises and adventures. It made an interesting read. Now that the Master Criminal is dead and the romance of Ramses and Nefret has been settled, what will Peters think of next to intrigue us in this series?

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: better than the last one
Review: As a huge fan who has read the entire Amelia Peabody series, I was relieved that Thunder was better than Ape and Falcon, but thought that the chemistry between the younger Emersons has become forced and contrived. Still my favorite series, but I miss the books where impetuous Ramses would entertain you with pages of polysyballic prose. The Sethos element was also disappointing. I'd like to see new books fill in some of the gaps in the chronology, but if not, I can always start at the beginning and re-read them!

Summary: A "Must Read"
Review: If you like the Amelia Peabody books, you must read this one. It gets somewhat complex with spies, counterspies, etc. but I could not put it down. Not only that, I was deeply moved (okay, to tears) by the end of the book---and I am a prosaic, pragmatic person.

I am impressed by the depth and quality of Ms. Peters' characterizations as well as her fine eye for historical detail.

Review: Elizabeth Peters, this is your best yet. I could not put it down.
