Summary: He Shall Thunder In The Sky
Review: This was the best book yet! I Have been a "Peabody" fan since I read the first book in the series. Elizabeth Peters never fails to enchant me with her characters...all of her books are wonderful and imaginative. I can't wait to see where her next "Peabody" mystery leads me.

Summary: At Last!
Review: After weeks of screaming in frustration every time I contemplated the fact that this book was in stores and I still hadn't bought it, at last I got my hands on it. After devouring it in a matter of hours, all I have to say is, Dr. Mertz, you're my hero! Everything in this novel is sheer, entertaining perfection. The character development reaches its pinnacle, the loose ends and seeming inconsistencies from previous novels in the series are tied up and explained, and the mystery itself (which many people found secondary to the romance angle) I found extremely intriguing. Especially noteworthy as a secondary character is the transvestite pimp, El Gharbi. I hope he sticks around for the next book.

Summary: No Spoilers--Just a grateful, honest opinion
Review: Elizabeth Peters has done it again. At the end of "Falcon" I, like many other readers, felt manipulated by the turn of events that the characters' lives took. Suffice to say that "Thunder" more than makes up for that feeling! Elizabeth Peters has succeeded in bringing all of the loose ends of the previous book together in a most satisfying way. Her transitions of the family dynamics are masterful and believable. NO other author can bring out emotions like she can. I cheered, wept, worried and gasped in disbelief right along with the characters...and I loved every minute of it!!!

I have read every one of her books at least 3-4 times each. As a teacher, I don't have time to read much during the school year. Elizabeth Peters' books are my "Official Beginning of Summer Reading" books (regardless of when I buy them I don't read them until school is out), and this summer's installment was definitely worth the wait!

Summary: Another Great Amelia Peabody Story
Review: They stories just keep getting better and better. While some reviewers didn't like the somber note of the previous book, I enjoyed it tremendously and looked forward to reading the next installment. Amelia Peabody is my favorite literary heroine, and she didn't disappoint this time around. Lots of humor, as we've come to expect, and the backdrop of the World War heightens the level of intrigue. Of course, Amelia can't resist getting involved in a little espionage on her own!

Summary: The Ultimate Amelia!
Review: "He Shall Thunder in the Sky" is the the best of the Amelia Peabody mysteries. For those left hanging after "Falcon", Ms. Peters wraps all the loose ends up nicely and answers many questions about various characters.

This book is so complete in terms of story and character development one wonders if this is the last Amelia Peabody. The character arcs of Amelia and Emerson seem to have reached their peak. It's very interesting to see Amelia and Emerson try to protect their son and daughter throughout the book, but during the last hundred pages, they allow the children take control, not only of the predicament in which they find themselves, but also of their lives.

Perhaps addition installments will be renamed the Ramses Emerson mysteries?

Very highly recommended.

Summary: Peters has created yet another masterpiece!
Review: This book has everything! There is history, romance, action, comedy, adventure, suspense, and above all--mystery! I couldn't put the book down once I started. Those interested in Egypt will really love it, but even if you are not--it has so many other components that you will have to love it! This book resolves a lot of what happened in the last, much to my pleasure. After finishing the last book I was frantically waiting for the next to come out! It lived up to all of my wildest dreams and expectations! Peters has done it again!

Summary: He Shall Thunder In the Sky
Review: Elizabeth Peters has done it again- why aren't her books made into movies or at least a TV series! Her new book "He Shall Thunder in the Sky" takes the reader into the lives of people we have all gotten to know and love. I always feel empty for a few days after I finish reading about Amelia, Emerson, Ramses, Nefret, David and all the others. Once I began reading I couldn't put the book down. I recommend this book to all of Ms. Peters's many fans. I feel this book is one of the best ever! I can't wait for her next book. Please don't make us wait too long.

Summary: Longtime fans will love this satisfying book
Review: I read the first Amelia Peabody Emerson mystery, "Crocodile on the Sandbank," back in the mid-1980s, and instantly became a fan. Readers like me, who have been following this series for years, will definitely appreciate "He Shall Thunder," because it ties up a lot of loose ends and solves some mysteries that have been puzzling Amelia fans for years. (The only thing I could have done without in this book was the way the characters were constantly donning disguises, to the point where it got a bit ridiculous.) If you haven't yet met the Emerson family, I suggest going back to the beginning of the series. Peters does give a nice summary of the story so far at the start of the book, but if you really want to understand the characters and their motivations, go back and read the earlier books before tackling this one -- you'll be in for a treat!

Summary: Is Sethos still alive?
Review: I hope he is. We weren't told that he was definitely dead like Percy. It seems to me that we are left to take it for granted. Emerson would know for sure, as he did about Percy, and he may be under orders again not to mention it. There is plenty of room here for Sethos to return. The lung wound might not have been fatal (Nefret had been commenting on it when help arrived) and he could have passed out from blood loss. Isn't it odd that Emerson would not mention burial arrangements for his brother even though he mentions provisions for Molly and trying to do right by him in the past? It is such a glaring omission. Amelia carries us along with her plans to discuss moving the body back to England at a later date so we just assume he is dead.

Sethos might operate more freely if everybody thinks he is gone. Since he was (still is?) an agent for the British, he might get his own series of books.

This book did tie up some loose ends but created others.

Summary: Amelia Peabody is up-staged
Review: Well, somone has finally done it.....someone has finally up-staged the great Ameila Peabody....and the person who does it....her own son....I was so excited to see that Amelia wasn't the first person to solve this mystery and prevent a war, in fact she does little in this book but provide minor clues and insights. This whole book basicly revolved around Ramses and his efforts on behalf of the war effort. He becomes a spy and out-witts the person who hates him the most. (Can you guess? ) The ending is happy and I must say it is about time that Ramses and Nefret got it together. All my suspicians about thoses two were confirmed and then some in this book. It was a true delight to read....
