All questions are answered from the simple - Ramses new cat, to complex - Sethos' real identity. My next hope is another Vicky Bliss novel in the hopes of finding out John's relationship to the Emerson's.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: INCREDIBLE! Review: This is definitely the best of the Peabody series! I bought it and could hardly put it down in the two days it took me to read it (fortunately it was a slow time at work and my boss was very patient!) Any fan of the Peabody series will love it! A must read! Elizabeth Peters has outdone herself with this one (which I didn't think was possible)!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Delicious! Review: When I received the package containing this book I whooped REALLY loudly. My mother thought I was REALLY insane. All I can say is that the book was worth the wait, and definately worth buying. In my opinion (I know, Amelia would slap my wrist), He Shall Thunder in the Sky is the best since The Last Camel Died at Noon. Great plot, great dialogue, great everything! Yes, like everybody else, I was a bit disillusioned by Falcon at the Portal, but Amelia and Emerson have returned in full form. I started reading these books at the age of nine, and I used to always wish I lived with the Emersons, and went of digs with them, and sat in the library at Amarna House with them. Today, 8 years later, after reading Thunder, I find myself wishing that all over again. Amelia is the best in the whole world.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: even better yet Review: I though it would be dificult to top her last book but I'd say she has done it! You will not be disapointed. I also recommend the Book "A Tourist in the Yucatan" for any of you amature mayanists.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Mature, Moving, Intricate -- and Hilarious Review: I think HE SHALL THUNDER...is not just one of the best in the Amelia Peabody series, but one of the best of Peters' books. For one thing, it's one of the most intricately plotted, even for a writer who excels and exults in convoluted plots. It's satisfying and complete, winding up a number of loose ends in a way I found moving and worthwhile (and no, even after reading the reviews here and getting advance spoilers from friends in the industry, I managed with Amelia-like fortitude not to turn to the last page!) Peters has pulled off a remarkable accomplishment. While preserving the tongue-in-cheek humor of earlier books in the series, some -from- Amelia, some aimed -at- her, Peters has given HE SHALL THUNDER... a very serious backdrop against the First World War, specifically, the Arab Revolt. I personally howled at the depictions of the Cairo Intelligence Officers, among them T.E. Lawrence, who receives shrift about as short as he was. And you see the formidable Peabody/Emerson menage arrayed against the Turks and the Germans -- some of the Turks and some of the Germans, while preserving the intellectual integrity that is important to them AND managing to excavate with a war going on. Peters has managed to pull off the feat of growing up her "young" characters like Ramses and Nefret (who shows up much better than in FALCON) while not turning Amelia and Emerson out to pasture, even assuming that they'd let her. After all, she's only Amelia's editor, isn't she? In and among the fun, the suspense, the historical and archeological information, and the portrayal of familiar characters, you have some wonderful depictions of love between grownups -- as well as those who've only recently come emotionally of age. This is going to be a hard act to follow, but my hardback money's on Ms. Peters -- and on the redoubtable Amelia.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Best Amelia book in years Review: This book was so good, so well-done and so fresh -my goodness! The new plot twists were great, and this was one of the most enjoyable books I've read this year. I confess I have been tired of this series for a while now and have been disappointed that this wonderful author only seems interested in Amelia now. But this was just as good as Vicky Bliss or Jacqueline Kirby (although I really hope there will be more books with Vicky!).
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Thank goodness! Review: I had to read the last page first. I tried not to, but I couldn't resist. I was delighted from first page to last. I had been obsessing about the next book ever since the end of "Falcon" and I was sure nothing could live up to my expectations. I am glad to say this was not the case. It was wonderful to see both generations of heroines live up to their earlier promise. I am going to start rereading immediately.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A most satisfying conclusion... Review: While reading The Falcon at the Portal a year ago, I was convinced that MPM had written her characters into a corner that they couldn't escape from in a satisfactory way. She's done it again, though -- turned expectations completely around and delivered a marvelously satisfying conclusion to this particular portion of the Emerson saga. I won't spoilt it for you, but every element of her storytelling: exhaustive historical research, complex plotting, character development, and suspense all culminate in a wonderful read. You'll whip through it, and probably go back to read it several times more. I know I will.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent, excellent, excellent Review: Elizabeth Peters has provided many years of most excellent reading. This book, again, has been a pleasure to read and I am forever grateful for your cast of characters, their depth, the relationships that have evolved over the years, the subtle, tasteful hints of deeper passions, and your writing style. This is the one author that I recommend over and over to all I know. Thank you, Elizabeth Peters, and please keep the story evolving! (i.e. more, more!)
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: And it is Really Glorious Thunder Review: Thank you Elizabeth Peters. Thank you thank you thank you. After a year of waiting and worrying about Ramses & Nefret I feel vinicated. For all the readers who trashed Ms Peters & said mean things, read this book. It is the best ever. It has a lot of adventure, along with the usual archaelogy. Old favorite characters we love and hate are back. Percy is still swaggering around & up to no good. (Bless him for being such a stupid stilted dunderhead who never gives up being a leech.) The Master Criminal lurks nearby. In short, it is a great read for all the Amelia, Emerson, Ramses, David, Nefret fans around the world.
