Rating: Summary: Different, but still good Review: Tami Hoag amazes me. Her range is astounding, and her ability to create credible characters who are likeable, plots which are far-fetched but made realistic by the quality of her well drawn characters, and also to evoke different settings is quite stunning. This time she moves her action to Montanna. This is a different sort of thriller, i think. Although i can't put my finger on why. It is not a "whodunnit" exactly, in the strictest sense of the phrase, but it is still a crime novel and a darn good thriller. Her usual mix of romance and thriller enriches all her plots, this one included. They give her writing an extra dimension, and they add even more realism to the stories she tells. Her characters always blow me away. They are so...real. they jump of the page at you. You really feel for them. In their dillemmas, in their good times. (That is another reason why Hoag is so realistic. Her characters are not solely effected by the murders. As well as being effected by them, they are also effected by other things not connected to the killings, as normal people would be. Things such as lifestyle, relationships, family, illness, and her common theme of beautiful landscapes being torn down and misused to make way for the modern world.) The plot of this book is a good one, but i am surprised that it carried the novel for as long as it did. by rights, a plot like this should perhaps have taken up about a hudred less pages. Testament to Hoag's brilliance is that even though the book is perhaps overlong, i never felt that whilst reading it. i was always waiting eagerly for what would happen next, which turn the story would take. not once was i bored, due in part to her the engaging world which she creates. The climax to the book is great. Exciting and pulse-pounding. This book is another great one from Tami Hoag.
Rating: Summary: Thrilling and provacative ...the BEST by far!!!! Review: This is the 3rd of Tami's books I've read thus far and it was unbelievably captivating, provacative and thrilling. She brilliantly and expertly leads you on an intense emotional rollercoaster ride that you won't want to end. The suspense starts from the very first page. From there, I fell in love with the main characters, was aroused, laughed out loud, cried, and increased my adrenalin 10 fold...wishing I could read faster. This book is superb and I plan to read all her other books seriatim.
Rating: Summary: get's a little wierd Review: This one was good but it got a little to wierd for me, not that it couldn't happen I just live a more sheltered life. Good ending.
Rating: Summary: One of my first Hoag books Review: This was a very good book. I loved every second of it and didn't set it down until the last page was done. The main characters were very well developed, as well as the storyline.. I love books that can keep me guessing until the end, such as this one.
Rating: Summary: another can't put it down Review: I absolutely love the way Tami Hoag develops and interprets characters. You will fall in love again with the main characters and have a whole new look on cowboys. What strong willed, independent woman could resist the "charm" of a thick-headed, one track minded hunk of male testosterone. A must read the those who love action and suspense with just as much romance.
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: This book moved me in ways I didn't know possible! I'm STILL in love with the male main character - mmmm mmm mmmmm! And the female main character was inspirational beyond my dreams! A powerful mystery with several side-stories all going on as well that all end up tying together - OUTSTANDING AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Rating: Summary: This is a romance novel with a little suspense Review: After reading several great Tami Hoag thrillers (Night Sins, Guilty as Sin, Ashes to Ashes, Thin Red Line) I was very disappointed with this book. This is no competitor to Stephen King novels. This is strictly romance. Tami Hoag is great at thrillers but should leave the romance to Nora Roberts.
Rating: Summary: A MUST READ FOR ROMANCE/SUSPENSE JUNKIES! Review: Tami Hoag's romance/suspense books are not for the squeemish. While this writer knows how to put the "G" in gritty, a couple of the characters in this difficult-to-put-down story create their own "D" in dysfunctional! (Enough groans of disgust to go around for everyone.) However, these are the characters that make reading Tami Hoag such fun. She is equally adept at developing a quirky heroine we'd love to have as a friend. Her mastery of sexual syspense is right up there with the best romance writers in the genre. Show me a woman who reads this book and doesn't fall in love with J.D., the classic, stoic, Montana cowboy and I'll show you a woman in a coma. Thanks to Ms. Hoag for another good read!
Rating: Summary: What happened between the first edition and the reissue? Review: I just finished "Dust to Dust" and I like Tami Hoag's romances, mysteries and crime novels. I read the first paperback edition of "Dark Paradise" after I checked it out from the library. I liked it, and decided I wanted my own copy, so picked up the reissued paperback. Has anyone else noticed that at least one of the steamy romantic scenes has been deleted from the reissue? It's still a good book, but I'm wondering what happened. Was this censored for some reason?
