Rating: Summary: The Prometheus Deception Review: This is without a doubt one of my favorite Ludlum novels. A retired spy is called back into the business when he learns that his former agency is not all that they had appeared to be. The reason for it not being four stars is that I thought some of the action scenes went on for a little too long but it is still a faced paced novel with plenty of twists and turns.
Rating: Summary: Ending [stinks] Review: This is a good book, right up until the end... If you gloss over some minor cliches and errors, the flow and suspense is great. But this sets up for an anti-climatic ending. Where did Abu come from (a villian from the first chapter, but never again mentioned until the last hand to hand combat).I believe Ludlum lost interest in completing the book and the publisher had to hire in some hack to finish the job, so they did it in the last 5 pages. Or...Ludlum lost himself in the maddening plot twists.
Rating: Summary: Not Enough stars to rate this book! Review: The Promethues Deeception starts off with a bang and never slows down in action. The main storyline is Nick Bryson, Aka Jonas Bannet and many other aliases, was working for a secret intelligence agency that turns out to be far from what Bryson was led to belive. Many interesting plot twists occur, and the book keeps you moving from page to page. I was utterly taken at how suspensful Mr.Ludlum wrote this book. The first novel of his I read was not at all anything in compared to this and I will read all Ludlum works I can because of this novel. I anxiously wait for my chance to get a copy of the much touted novel, The bourne Identity so I can begin that storyline. Mr.Ludlum in my opinion easily and clearly surpasses Mr.Clancy in suspense novels. Once you start this book, you wont want to eat, sleep, work or do anything else untill it is done. Its just that good!!!
Rating: Summary: Thought-provoking and fast-paced Review: I enjoyed the suspense and fast pace of this book. I got a little confused on some of the technical aspects and Ludlum stretches the believable factor a little, but it was still a good read. The premise is scary and thought-provoking, especially in the wake of 9/11.
Rating: Summary: Save your money Review: I haven't read Ludlum in a while and it will be a long while before I read another. A totally disjointed spy story with a plot that appears to be concocked as the book was written. Not worthy of the author who wrote some great thrillers in the past.
Rating: Summary: In the light of 9-11 I found this hard to put down Review: I have not read a Ludlum book in years. This one makes me want to go back and re-read all of them again. I am amazed at some of the negative reviews. Ludlum's books have always been a little far-fetched or at least we would like to think that. Sure there are times that it seems unbelievable the hero is able to get out of a situation, but thats true of many movies and novels. I found the book to be quite interesting and I read it in one sitting. In light of the 9-11 attack this book seemed to outline some of the various things that are going on today; increased security, call for national identity cards, the world scared of another attack. I found it thought provoking and definitely worth reading. Great!
Rating: Summary: Finally something worthy of his talents Review: The last two books I bought by this author I read were not written by him and after reading this book I agree, he does not write that badly to have written the others. This book was well written and intersting somthing lacking in The Sigma Protocol and The Cassandra Compact. The book had good action, an interesting premise and twists and turns throughout, what the master Ludlum was famous for. While not his best book, it is the best I have read from him in a long time.
Rating: Summary: The Prometheus Deception Review: It is obvious this was written by a ghost writer. GARBAGE, save your money!
Rating: Summary: Save your Money Review: Save your money. Buy a superman comic --read it, and then borrow the last chapter of Prometheus from an unsuspecting person who paid good money for a bad book. Not Ludlum's best work.
Rating: Summary: A little too far fetched Review: This was my first Ludlum book and I must say that I was not impressed. I liked the concept and the characters, but the plot was too involved and the story line was unbelievable. Specifically, the timelines seemed out of whack to me. His hero was accomplishing too much way to fast and seemed to have miraculous healing powers. The changes in storyline were also annoying and these changes seemed to contradict one another. While it wasn't confusing per se, it wasn't believable. I am also suspicious of any story where the hero has constant access to an array of resources and can acquire these in very short periods of time without running into a myriad of problems (as was the case in this story). Having said all this, his use of modern technology as a driving factor in the story was impressive. Much of it exists and it is quite frightening when one thinks about how it could be used (and he does outline several possibilities in the book). This, however, is not enough to save this book.
