Summary: HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT
Review: I'm a long-time fan of Mary Higgins Clark, so was really looking forward to curling up on the sofa with her latest, "Daddy's Little Girl". What a huge disappointment that it was written in the first person. I didn't make it past the second chapter.

Summary: No "Who" in My Whodunnit!
Review: Usually in a mystery/suspense story, several characters are presented, giving the reader the opportunity to figure out "whodunnit." However, in *this* book, the author pretty much TELLS us who the "bad guy" is pretty early on. You get to the ending and (knock yourself over with a feather), its the SAME person who's been suspected throughout the entire BOOK! If I'd have known that, I would've saved myself some time and stopped reading after the first three chapters!

I am a true Mary Higgins Clark addict, however, and am already reading another one of her books. I just don't recommend "Daddy's Little Girl."

Summary: Difficult to finish
Review: I am a big fan of Mary Higgin Clark's books, so I am accustomed to reading her books in one or two days, as they are often seemingly impossible to put down. I was surprised then, that I was able to get frequently distracted by it, so much that by the time I returned to it, I had to start over again. After another long pause in reading, I realised I had to finish it at least since I had already devoted so much time to it. With the exception of the last 15 pages or so, there is not much mystery or suspense to it, which really dissapointed me. One thing that irritated me and made it seem very unreal was regarding how the main character, Ellie, is building a website where she places slanderous material against the man she believes murdered her sister. In the book, it is treated as though every person in the world is glued to her website, and the second she finishes placing a piece on it, everyone in town has read it. As much as it pains me to say so, this is not Mary Higgins Clark's best book by any means.

Summary: Great story - too tidy of a wrap up
Review: I was a bit disappointed by this MHC story. I was mostly disappointed as to how things wrapped up a little to quickly for me. After hours of listening it seemed that it was suddenly over, without enough closure and a little to neatly.

One this that really bothered me was that I almost missed the end of the story, as there was that obnoxious music (2 tones louder than the story) and that is usually the signal for the end. I took the tape out and noticed that it wasn't at the end and put it back in to catch the ending.

Overall this story is a good story though with lots of twists and turns.

This is the story of Ellie Cavanaugh and the trauma that goes along with discovering your sister's dead body and the things that go along with the division of a family in tragedies. The story then picks up when Ellie is going back to talk to the parole board about her sister's killer getting out of jail. As he has served 20 years she is basically told to just accept he has paid his debt. Well she doesn't. As an investigative reporter she thinks there is more to the story then is really known. She also knows of a locket that she knows she didn't imagine and though no one believes her she knows her sister had been wearing it when she died.

There is a lto of suspense as the old case is to be opened up and there are attempts on Ellie's life as she starts a web page and pursued the background of her sisters killer.

Summary: Worst Clark I've read
Review: This is the worst, more boring MHC book that I've read. The last one I read, On the Street Where you Live, was bad enough, but this was just plain awful. The heroine was not compelling, the plot was dreary and predictable. I kept expecting a twist, but nothing happened. Also, the proof reading was deplorable. Did MHC actually write this thing?

Summary: DADDY'S LITTLE GIRL
Review: This is the first book I have read by MHC. I thought it was a good book! I couldn't wait to read it each night! From the reviews above, I take it her other books are much better than this one! That is great to hear, I now have other ones to look forward to! I would recommend this book to anyone who is new to reading mystery!

Summary: The First Time She's Ever Let Me Down
Review: For the first time, I was disappointed with a Mary Higgins Clark book. The style was lacking her regular pizzaz, almost as if she, herself didn't write the book. I found the story bland and really only enjoyed the feeling of suspense in the last ten pages.

Summary: Cptivating
Review: Mary Higgins Clark has that rare talent of immediatly drawing the reader into the midst of her plot and she does it with Finesse in "Daddy's Little Girl." Childhood memories and unwarrented guilt drive Adult investagative reporter Ellie to return to the scene of her sister's murder. Twenty years have passed and the man convicted of the crime is being released. He claims innocence, Ellie is determined to discover the truth putting her own life on the line. Suspense flows abundantly in this latest Clark Narrative. Impossible to put down.

Summary: A real page turner?
Review: I read this book so fast, not that it was good, it was just to get through it. There was no guess work, or doubts of where the plot (use the term loosely) was leading. I would not recommend this book to anyone, well maybe to people with money to waste.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Disappointingly predictable and simplistic!
Review: I can't tell you how disappointed I am in this book. I have read several of Mary Higgins Clark's novels and have found them quite entertaining...that's why I find it so hard to believe that this is by the same author.

There really was no mystery to this book - it is obvious who the criminal is from the very beginning and there are none of the necessary twists in plot that make for an intriguing mystery. It was all just too simplistic and obvious for me.

...Maybe this is the typical example of a well-known author being able to publish and sell anything simply based on previous accomplishments!
