Summary: Distraught and Disappointed
Review: This book was a very disappointing read. I found it to be bland and predictable. You know from the first few chapters what was going to happen. There was nothing to pull the reader in and the only reason you would finish it would be because you would feel some type of obligation to yourself to finish what you started. The author leads you on a long and tedious path only to end it where you already knew what happened.
The only reason I gave it two stars was because of the emotional and spiritual growing "Ellie" does.

Summary: Dry
Review: I usually enjoy her books for a bit of light fun reading, but this was absolutely boring and uninteresting. A waste of time.

How would you feel if you found your sister dead? Well, Ellie Cavanaugh found her sister dead with blood all around her the morning after her sister had been murdered. Ellie being seven years old at the time, sent who she thought the murderer was, Rob Westerfeild, to prison. She was convinced it was Rob, because Ellie went to his grandmother's garage and that is where she found Andrea dead.

Now twenty-three years later Rob is getting out of prison for good. Ellie doesn't want Rob to be let out, so she is going home to try and dig up some dirt about Rob and send him back into the slammer. But when Ellie starts to find out some things about Rob, someone keeps trying to kill Ellie. Then Ellie finds out something big and she puts herself in huge danger. Will Ellie live or will she die indeed like her sister? Read Daddy's Little Girl to find out.

I loved this book I just couldn't put it down. It is jam-packed with suspense and mystery. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves murder mysteries and cliff-hanging suspense. As Mary Higgins Clark weaves her way through the book she brings in some romance and happiness.

Summary: the brutal murder
Review: Daddy's little girl, a work of fiction written by Mary Higgines Clark was published in 2002 and later on received number one New York Times best seller. The book was written in first person standpoint and also provides us readers with thought-provoking ideas and often leaves us hanging with doubtful minds about the plot. The book is about Ellie, a journalist whose sister was killed in a brutal murder near their home in New York's Westchester County. Ellie, as a journalist began on her battling investigation against the suspected murderer Rob Westerfield, a nineteen-year-old Youngman from a prominent family, who was dating Ellie's sister. Ellie spent virtually her entire adulthood trying to find hard evidence to prove Westerfield's guilt. The structure of the book is pretty straightforward and was illustrated in a chronological order which is fairly comprehensible and simple to follow. The author uses a normal language to communicate with us readers but simultaneously demonstrates strong tone of voice to make us want to pursue the reading. The whole book is written from Ellie's point of view, the language clearly reveals Ellie's emotions of having the multiple difficulties that she has to overcome with, and pursuing her life without her sister. The style of writing that Clark used in this novel makes you feel as if you have become part of the story through the characters' eyes. Yet, there are also several drawbacks of this book. For example, the middle section of the book is a little bit tedious compared to the beginning. It somehow drags out the process of Ellie finding supportive sources to write her book about the murder. I personally think it would have been better or easier to read if the book did not include so much unnecessary information of her interactions with the Westerfield's family. After reading this book, I have learned to cherish people around me who have always been there to look after me and care for me. I have deeply realized the importance of a complete family. There is no way for a family to be complete with one member missing. However, if you are a reader who is into murders and mysteries, this book would be a perfect choice for you.

Summary: Well written in 1st person format!
Review: Ellie Cavanaugh has had to live with a guilt trip about her sister's death. Her sister was to meet Rob Westerfield but her father had prohibited her seeing him. Ellie did not tell her parents where she knew her sister would be when she disappeared. Finally, she goes to see if her sister is there in the barn and finds the body of her sister. Running home in a screaming cry, she delivers every parents worse nightmare; their daughter was killed. Ellie has to go from that moment on with the phrase like "If only we knew sooner," to haunt her. She carries blame in her like a ball and chain.

Fast foward to the present and Rob's family has arranged a story to clean his name. Their is money from the grandmother's inheritance on the line in proving his innocence. Ellie, having seen her family torn apart from her sister's death, is determine to make sure that Rob stays behind bars.

Very well written and the author does so in first person. You become part of the story through the eyes of Ellie.

Summary: Getting Better in Each Book
Review: While MHC's books seem to start falling into a recognizable pattern of events for plot and action, her writing style is getting better and better.

When I first starting reading MHC books, I thought the writing somewhat immaturish, but she has improved in leaps and bounds with her style, substance, and maturity of details and realistic settings.

This is definitely a great read -- recommend wholeheartedly!

Summary: A Major MHC fan
Review: I rarely bestow the title of "page turner" on a book, but DADDY'S LITTLE GIRL is just that. In my opinion this is MHC at her best. With believable characters and situations, a great plot, and superb dialogue, you won't be able to put this book down. It's one of those "give it to a friend when you're finished" books as you'll want to share it. Much like McCrae's Bark of the Dogwood, The Second Chair, or The Da Vinci Code.

Also recommended: SECOND CHAIR, BARK OF THE DOGWOOD, THE DA VINCI CODE

Summary: THe Best Book Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: THE BOOK DADDY'S GIRL WAS ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I HAVE EVER READ. THERE SHOULD BE NO OTHER TITLE FOR IT. THE TITLE FITS PERFECT WITH THE BOOK. THIS BOOK IS ABOUT A LITTLE GIRL WHO LOST HER SISTER IN A BRUTAL KILLING. EILLE, WHO GREW UP TO BE A WONDERFUL WRITER IS TRYING TO PROVE THAT HER SISTER'S KILLER SHOULD NOT BE RELEASED FROM PRISON. THERE WAS NEVER ANY HARD EVIDENCE TO PROVE THAT HER SISTER'S BOYFRIEND DID IT, BUT ELLIE WAS SURE IT WAS HIM. SHE WANTED TO SEE HER SISTER'S KILLER FACE TO FACE SO SHE ENDS UP GOING BACK TO THE TOWN SHE HATED HER WHOLE LIFE. THIS STORY IS FULL OF SUSPENSE AND YOU REALLY DON'T KNOW WHO DID WHAT TILL THE END OF THE OVEL. THIS BOOK WILL KEEP YOU AT THE EDGE OF YOUR CHAIR AND WHEN IT'S OVER YOU WILL WANT MORE. gREAT JOB TO MARY HIGGINS CLARK

Summary: Very Boring - Not her best!
Review: Perhaps it's because I read this just after finishing the Da Vinci Code (which was excellent!), but I found this book to be very boring. There were no surprises, no suspense, no thrills, no twists, not even much of a climax at the end of the novel. I love Mary Higgins Clark - I have read all of her books and I am sad to say that this book is simply a waste of time. After a promising chapter one things go down hill and one wonders if this book was written too fast for the ideas to flow into completion.

Summary: Trying to find you before he finds me
Review: When Ellie was 7 years old her sister Andrea was brutally murdered. It was Ellie who found her sister's body, and slipping in Andrea's blood ran to tell her parents. Now, 23 years later, Andrea's suspected murderer Rob Westerfield is released from prison. Ellie is trying to prove Rob guilty of second degree murder to send him back to prison forever. The murderer is out there waiting to kill and Ellie is his next target.
The queen of suspense, Mary Higgins Clark, has a masterpiece in Daddy's Little Girl, a thrilling tale of murder, mystery and suspense with realistic characters and a chilling climax. WARNING:If you pick up this book you won't be able to put it down.
