Summary: A good read!
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had the feel of a Mary Higgins Clark book that we all have come to know and love and at the same time offered us a little bit of a different twist in terms of how the story was told. Mary Higgins Clark has an uncanny ability to keep her reader demanding to know what turn of events is going to happen next without ever giving too much away. Highly recommended!

Summary: exciting work of suspense
Review: When Ellie Cavanaugh was eight years old, her fifteen-year-old sister did not come home one night. Her frantic parents put Ellie to bed before she had the chance to tell them about Andrea's hiding place in Mrs. Westerfield's garage. The next day Ellie goes to the hiding place and sees the bludgeoned body of her sister and runs home to tell her parents.

She is questioned by the police and is forced to tell them that Ellie was sneaking around behind her parents back dating nineteen-year-old Rob Westerfield. She testifies that Andrea was to meet Rob the night she was killed and on the strength of her belief, a jury convicted Rob of murder. Now twenty years later, Rob is out on parole, trying to get his record overturned and Ellie is determined to see that does not happen even if it means putting her life in danger.

Mary Higgins Clark has written another exciting work of suspense starring a heroine who is determined to do what she thinks is right no matter what the cost. Because readers like her and believe in her, they root her on every step of the way and hope she is successful in her mission. DADDY'S LITTLE GIRL is a fast paced absorbing read that is sure to hit the New York Times bestseller list.

Summary: Page-turning Suspense
Review: Ever popular fiction writer Mary Higgins Clark has written yet another spine-tingling tale in this latest read. As a slight deviation, the victim's sister tells the story in the first person. Twenty-two years ago, fifteen-year-old Andrea Cavanaugh was brutally murdered near her home in suburban West Chester County, New York. Her sister, Ellie, seven-years-old at the time, has shouldered the blame for not telling her parents where her sister might have gone on that fateful night. With the subsequent breakup of her family and her mother's alcoholism, Ellie has grown up remembering her father's "why didn't you tell us?"

Now, Ellie is twenty-nine-years-old and an investigative reporter in Atlanta. She returns to her childhood home on the eve of the release of her sister's murderer. Determined to prevent the killer to be exonerated with a new trial, Ellie starts a web page and begins to uncover startling new facts concerning her sister's killer. Though she faces opposition from members of the town who believe in the man's innocence, Ellie continues in her quest. But Ms. Higgins Clark has created a character the reader wants to champion even as her life becomes endangered when she journeys too close to the truth.

As the clues mount in this non-stop adventure, Ellie's relationship with her estranged father and half-brother becomes a factor in their effort to protect her from becoming a victim. Clue by clue, the identity of the murderer becomes solidified, but the reader still wonders if Ellie is not being misled. A brilliant read, suspenseful until the very end.

Summary: Gripping suspense
Review: At fifteen years-old, Andrea Cavanaugh has what most girls want; she is beautiful, she is smart, she has a winning personality, and she happens to be dating the wealthy and prominent nineteen year-old Rob Westerfield when she is murdered. The battered body of Andrea is found by her seven year-old sister Ellie, and the police already have three suspects; Paul Stroebel, a sixteen year-old classmate with a crush on Andrea, Will Nebels, a local handyman, and her boyfriend Rob Westerfield.

Ellie's parents hold her responsible for her sisters death for if she told them Andrea was secretly meeting Rob they would have put a stop to it, and she would still be alive. Determined to put away her sister's killer, Ellie's testimony convicts Rob, the man she believes is responsible for the murder.

Twenty-two years later, Rob is up for parole, and Ellie, now an investigative reporter wants to make sure he is not back on the streets. Ellie sets up a website where she plans to post all information surrounding Rob and his dark secrets, but as bad luck would have it Rob is released from prison forcing Ellie to re-live the nightmares of her sister's death, and the deeper she delves into the crime she uncovers new facts about the case that will bring her face to face with a desperate killer.

'Daddy's Little Girl' is top-notch entertainment from the queen of suspense Mary Higgins Clark; there is suspense, thrills, masterful twists, and a gripping plot complete with an unexpected ending, guaranteed to keep readers turning the pages well past bedtime.

Mary Higgins Clark has been writing suspenseful mysteries for many years, and her latest is proof that she gets better with each new novel.

A MUST read!...

Summary: Finally it's here...
Review: I've been waiting for this one. I give 5 stars because I love Mary Higgins Clark! She's never disappointed me.

Summary: Thrilling
Review: A very intriguing thriller. The way the main character has to investigate the past for clues reminds me of my favorite thriller, Craig Furrnas' THE SHAPE. I think this is among Clark's best, a real page turner. I can't help but think, too, that Clark was inspired--if that's the right word--by the real-life Michael Skakel case, where Skakel (in-law to the Kennedys) is only NOW on trial and being considered the murderer of Martha Moxley in the 1970's....Clark's DADDY'S LITTLE GIRL is a wonderful fictional version of a similar situation.

Summary: This Book Was Such a Disappointment
Review: I am such a big fan of Mary Higgins Clark that I went to the book store oping to get a copy of Daddy's Little Girl, the day before it was released. No luck, but I did buy the book on the day it was released and decided to spend my lunch hour reading one of my favorite authors' works. What a disappointment! This story is told in a series of endless flashbacks and even the passages that are supposed to take place in the present are a continual rehashing of the the back story.
I wanted to return my book but out of respect for Clark, decided to hold to it. I'll be waiting on line for her next book too, but this time I will read several chapters (I enjoyed the first four chapters available on line) before I make the investment.

Summary: Daddy's Little Girl
Review: Book Review
Clark, Mary C. New York: Simon & Schuster, 2002. 352 pages.
Mary Higgins Clark's Daddy's Little Girl is a capturing story of a young woman trying to avenge her late, older, sister. Ellie Cavanaugh's older sister, Andrea, was murdered when Ellie was seven years old. "Ellie sank to her knees beside Andrea and pulled back the blanket covering her face. Andrea had a mask on, a terrible monster mask that looked all sticky and gummy." Rob Westerfield was the prime suspect, and then found guilty. Now, 22 years later, Rob is being let out of jail. His family is trying to get his name cleared so he can inherit his grandmother's money. Hearing of this, Ellie comes back to her hometown, from Atlanta, and begins an investigation to keep Rob in jail. She finds herself remembering things from the night her sister, who she was very close to, went missing, and the trial for Rob. This leads her on a dangerous adventure through recovering the past, and facing the days to come. I enjoyed this book because it kept me guessing throughout the time I was reading it. However, I recommend this book for mainly girls because the story is more from a girls' perspective.

Summary: No no no
Review: Since so many people enjoy her books I thought I would give her a try. I purchased this and another one of her books since it was on sale. I had never read anything by her before. It was awful. There was very little character development and I didn't care what happened to any of them. After reading this I bought the other back without ever reading it. It reminded me of the one Danielle Steele novel I read years ago.
