Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This was Dean Koontz??? Review: This is one of Dean Koontz's better novels. The plot is a little confusing, because the characters are so complex and interconnected, but that just makes the book that much more enjoyable to read. This is the first Dean Koontz book that I've read in a long time that didn't seem to have a formulaic plot. (And those of you who have read a lot of his work will know what I mean) The characters in the book develope in new and surprising ways, and there's always something happening that makes you want to keep reading. When it was all finished, I was disappointed. I wanted to know more about their lives, and more about how things came out after the novel was done. All in all, Dean Koontz has woven all the elements of a good book together to come up with a tapestry that's nothing short of delightful. Lively characters, an involving plot, twists and turns, the unexpected and the slightly paranormal, with a little quantum physics thrown in for fun. If you like Dean Koontz, this book is a must read. It will greatly enhance your appreciation for his talents. If you aren't yet a Dean Koontz fan, I would suggest that you start with one of his earlier works, Phantoms or Watchers would be good. But you have to put this book on your to-read list. TJG

It has some truly great "wows" in it, and the story just makes you want to skip a day of work to finish reading it!! May someday my fantasy will come true, and King and Koontz will do a book together.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: I just finished this book and loved it Review: This book had my hooked from page one. The begining is very fast paced and the characters are wonderfully written. I found myself staying up way too late just to squeeze in a few more chapters. I highly recommend this book to everyone. Dean Koontz is an amzing author and can make you laugh (Edom and Jacob did have me laughing at different points in the story), and make you cry (Barty going blind) But he can also scare you and really make you think about the deeper meaning of life.

Review: I just finished reading this book and all I have to say is WOW! The writing is intricately woven into a book that you just can't put down. This isn't the kind of book that you read and know what is going to happen next. Dean Koontz just has one surprise after another around every corner. I loaned the book to one of my co-workers who was equally impressed. This is definitely one of his best stories ever!
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: What Was Koontz Thinking Review: From the Corner of His Eye is a little over six hundred pages long. The story itself can be told in two hundred pages. The drive in the story is that the main villian, Cain, is after the child Bartholomew, and the two only meet briefly near the end of the novel. The pace is slow, and the conflict is trivial. The emotional pull to hate the antagonist is not there. Actually, the voice of the narrative doesn't even come across as allowing the reader to feel anything for Cain. 'So, he is a killer with a crazy thought process' is what went through my mind when I read the novel. Overall, the book was a bad novel. The reason why the book gets two stars instead of one in my opinion is because of the emotional anguish that Bartholomew's mother had to face when she found out that her son would lose her sight. That portion of the narrative was beautiful. Koontz has written better, and I hope he will write better in the future.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: First-time Dean Koontz reader, a stunning book Review: This was the first Dean Koontz novel I'd ever read, on a friend's recommendation. It grabbed my attention from the first chapter and held it to the end, much like Timeline by Michael Chrichton. You will want to turn away from the book at times, but keep going, and you will be rewarded. The explanation behind the book's title, which is worked into the story, was wonderful too.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: okay book by okay writter Review: This is the first dean koontz book that I read. It was fun in some parts. The mystery behind Bartholemew is interesting once it comes into full light. The book became boring though when chapter after chapter is filled with cain's perverted and demented life. Next to nothing is given as to why he just goes crazy. Dean Koontz is just Stephen King with less of an imagination.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Could have been a lot shorter Review: I do enjoy Mr. Koontz's work a lot, but FROM THE CORNER OF HIS EYE was not one of them. The book is a little over 600 pages long, and the story really could have been told in a little over 200 pages. Most of the story did not need to be told. For example, the main antagonist, Cain, is set against the main protagonist, Bartholomew, and the two do not have their conflict until the end of the novel. There was one saving grace to the book, which was why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1. The saving grace in the novel was the traumatic situation that both Bartholomew and his mother, Agnes Lampion, must face. That situation does make a person think a little differently about how precious life really can be. Still, that situation does not last long in the novel. Hopefully next time Mr. Koontz's next book will be better.
