Summary: A Series to Read and Enjoy
Review: Cherish the Aunt Dimity series for its simple sweetness and nostalgic way of weaving the characters together into the adventures and the life (er, afterlife) of the ghost of Aunt Dimity. The first in this series sets off to explain much of the main character's life before encountering Dimity and the evolution of her character as she gets to know herself and her mother's friendship with theDimity. I don't want to give anything away, but if you liked Nancy Drew as a child, you might want to give this series a try as a grown-up.

Summary: There should be an Aunt Dimity in every family! :)
Review: I have read quite a few cozy mysteries in the past but this is by far the coziest! It is a warm and wonderful story about the power of friendship and contains a little bit of suspense, a whole lot of romance ( past and present) and something else I haven't come across in recent memory - a kind and benevolent ghost. The setting is great, too. A charming English cottage in a charming English village. If you've seen this title around for a while as I have but just never picked it up don't wait any longer. It's a cozy mystery lover's dream!

Summary: Wonderful Book - So glad I decided to read it!
Review: I love suspense mystery books. However, I picked this one up one day and read it in about 4 hours! I completed the last few chapters while drinking my favorite cup of tea - which is what each person reading this book should do! The book was very warm, enjoyable, hated to see it end!

Summary: Charming escapism
Review: I loved this book! I completely enjoyed reading it. I read it over two nights and didn't want it to end. Luckily, there are other Aunt Dimity books. It was so nice to escape and read a mystery that didn't involve a lot of violence and slimy people, yet was still engrossing.

I highly recommend it.

Summary: A sweet yet fulfilling cozy
Review: I read this book first when I was in the midst of a depression. I probably cried a lot while reading it--Lori's situation resonated with me. What really got to me, as the story unfolded, was the lovingkindness of the things taken for granted. We should all have such things to take for granted!

I seldom read mysteries that have no other factor pulling me to them, and in this case, I think it was the rare-books aspect. The story kept unfolding, with one thread after another to knit up, and it All Came Right in the end.

I recommend it to many people; and Nancy Atherton became a must-get-ASAPublished-read-right-now.

Summary: A new series for me!
Review: I really enjoyed this "mystery". While I wouldn't say it was a traditional mystery in the murderous sense of the word or even a criminal sense, I still didn't mind settling down and getting cozy with Lori, Bill, Reginald (the bunny) and of course A. Dimity herself. Adding a ghost to the novel made it refreshing and not the least bit hokey or scary. I am setting out to read the next in the series.

Summary: A lovely fairy tale and mystery rolled into one book.
Review: I really enjoyed this book and was only sad that the end seemed to come rather abruptly. At least there are other Aunt Dimity books available. I don't as a rule enjoy books with a supernatural aspect, but this spirit is so benign and kind that I was able to suspend my disbelief. Do yourself a favor and give Aunt Dimity a try.

Summary: One of the most entertaining books I've ever read.
Review: I really loved this book, stayed up way, way into the night to finish it, as I couldn't put it down...It was charming, a fairy tale come true, a cinderella story YET it made some good points about forgiveness, love, acceptance, etc. I don't read as many cozies as I do the heavier deeper, psychological thrillers....but I love a really good one...AND THIS WAS! ALL the characters were delightful and really likeable. And the ending was wonderful...truly an uplifting book....I highly recommend it. Lawscotch@aol.com

Summary: Disapointed with Dimitys' Heir
Review: I thought the story would be a nice cozy read but I kept getting more and more annoyed with Lori Shepard. She started out as a relatively well drawn character until she meets the executors of Dimitys' will. She then begins whining and complaining when anyone shows her kindness and respect.
Although Bill is obviously destined to become more involved with Lori, I never got the impression he wanted a true friendship with her.
On the plus side; I really enjoyed Aunt Dimitys' machinations and wished she'd appeared sooner and stayed longer.

Summary: A Gentle Shove When I Needed It
Review: I'd read AUNT DIMITY'S DEATH once before and found it enchanting. I liked the fact that Lori's Prince Charming isn't storybook handsome. I've loved ghost stories since I was a child, so the supernatural element didn't bother me. My second reading was even more special. I saw my mother only twice a week. I knew she wasn't well, but she didn't tell me she had heart trouble. I said goodbye to her one night before I went home. The next morning my sister called me to tell me she'd died in her sleep. 2 1/2 months later it was the annual Friends of the Tucson-Pima Library used book sale. Saturday was my only chance to go, but I woke up not wanting to bother. The sale had always been a gala day for my mother and me. I couldn't bear the thought of going without her. When I'm feeling really sad or sick, I like to reread a gentle or funny book to help me cope. I'm glad I chose AUNT DIMITY'S DEATH. As Lori learns how Aunt Dimity managed to go on with her life after a devastating blow, I started to feel a little better. By the time I was finished, I no longer felt like greying out in my bed. I drove to the sale. It was hard whenever I spotted a book I knew Mom would have wanted, but I had a nice time. This is a dear book if your life is going well, but I recommend it as a comfort if you've lost someone whom you loved.
