Summary: A good read closer to vintage JAK
Review: I loved everything about this book. The hero and heroine were engaging, and the secondary characters, always a strong point of her books, were fun. Since this is advertised as the first of her Whispering Springs books, I am really looking forward to where the series goes next. You'll like this one!

Summary: Finally, a Krentz worthy of her reputation!
Review: I loved it. I must admit, I'm a Krentz, Quick, Castle fan from the beginning and so I buy everything she writes. However, lately it's just been obligatory--gaining me a couple nights read with little else. This book broke the mold back to her very best. I started this book in the late evening and read it through until 3 in the morning--I haven't done that for a book in a long time.I then gave it to my sister to read and she did the exact same thing. So, thanks a lot JA Krentz, for giving us a thoroughly exciting book, two wonderful characters that I absolutely adored, a book with not one slow moment, and a promise of a sequel with these same characters. I can't wait.

Summary: Its Great
Review: I read Jayne Ann Krentz's (Jayne Castle) books and have for years. Like all authors she has her ups and downs in her writing, but I always enjoy her stories. This one is one of her best, in my opinion. I enjoyed the different stories within the one story, how in fact they served as red herrings and kept you quessing as to who and what was important to remember. The characters were great and I felt a certain sympathy for Zoe and Acardia. Just because a person is different others think they are strange or crazy. The love stories are terrific, although Ms. Krentz did leave the readers hanging on the other two romances. Maybe because there are sequels planned? In any case, if you are a fan of Jayne Ann Krentz, I honestly don't believe you will be disappointed.

Summary: Is there more?
Review: I read the new offering in a single sitting. It was a good read...not her best and not her worst. I wanted more of the loose ends tied up. Who else had psychic talents? Ethan? Arcadia? Who was Arcadia's powerful husband? Where is that story line going? Or did it stop with jazz and a P.I.? This Krentz won't be a keeper on my shelves, but it is a good, fast read.

Summary: Really enjoyed it
Review: I really enjoyed this one. The hero, Ethan, was definitely hero material & the heroine, Zoe, was smart, cute, & an admirable person. It was constantly moving & changing & it had a number of enjoyable secondary characters. Just when I thought the main problems were solved & couldn't figure out what was left except the romance, another new twist would pop up & it would take off again. I'd recommend it to all JAK fans.

Review: I think JAK couldn't decide if she wanted to write a fantasy/paranormal story, a romance or a mystery so she clumped them all together w/dissapointing results. Zoe can sense emotions in rooms. She senses that one of her clients murdered his wife and hires an investigator, Ethan. So, when she is later blackmailed by someone who threatens that s/he will tell the prison fronted as an expensive asylum (which she escaped from) her whereabouts, Zoe asks Ethan to look into it. She doesn't want to go back as 1) she's not crazy 2) her 'therapist' had an obsession with her ability and tried to take her to rooms where disturbing things happened to see her reaction 3) all the patients are kept drugged 4) she has plans for revenge on her in-laws who committed her and possibly murdered her husband. Basically, the asylum's after her, people are dying, and she's having an affair w/the P.I. It has potential but all of the plots are half-done (they should really be multiple developed stories), the romance is flat (as both hero and heroine are undeveloped) and not fully resolved, the dialogue trite and overdone (the characters keep repeating each others' jokes/comments), and there are so many miscellaneous characters that when one of the villains was apprehended I had to go back and check where s/he was mentioned b/c I didn't recognize the name. The bottom line: If you're a die-hard fan borrow the book from the library, and if you're new to JAK don't despair: almost all of her other books are much better.

Summary: Great New Book
Review: I too was disappointed in the last book Don't Look Back (as others have said) and was a little leary about her next book, but I buy all of them. Actually, since Jan 1 is my birthday, my daughter gave me this book before I even had a chance to order it. I started reading it and literally could not put it down. This book had more suspense than previous ones and more characters. The relationship between the two main characters was very good without the female character being a poor helpless thing. Even under adversity, Zoe was able to make an intelligent decision about her life and proceeded accordingly. The author has a sense of humor that just tickles my funny bone. I often end up laughing as I am reading and my husband wonders how a "romance" novel could be that funny. This book had a lot of humor in it. I have to say that I think this is one of her best ones and I absolutely enjoyed reading it.

Summary: She's Back!
Review: I took a gamble and bought Light in Shadow without reading the reviews first. I hit the jack pot for this is vintage Krentz. Now that I have read the book and the reviews...a backward approach....I am delighted that the readers are again charmed by Ms Krentz's signature style. I too, have been disappointed in her recent works but all is forgiven with this charming tale. The story line grabs your interest from the first sentence, the plot twists and intrigues keep you on your toes and the interesting support characters are the icing on the cake. My response to the negative reviews regarding Zoe and Ethan is I definitely felt the spark and liked the other sly hints of sparks with the other characters....rather interesting. I also disagree that one husband should mirror another. Life experiences alone can change the relationship needs of an individual. I liked the fact that both characters were strong enough to stand up to one another but not so much so that every scene became a battle of the sexes. The dry humor exhibited by both was a delight. Now all I need to make the literary world right is for this level of writing to carry over to Amanda Quick novels.

Summary: She's An Industry, Not An Author
Review: I've no quarrel with the plotting, though it's pretty fantastic, or the characters who fit the genre requirements but I'm soooo diappointed with this novel on two counts.
I've rarely seen a novel so poorly edited. For instance, on one page, the private investigator is named "Evan" and then "Ethan" about 4 lines later.
I also sorely miss the humor that Krantz excelled at weaving into her stories and that gave her characters more of a 'just like you and me' quality with which the reader could identify.
Krantz has turned into an industry instead of an author.
