Summary: Can't say enough good about it---
Review: The central question is this: when does it become right to resist?

In the 1930's, Jews, among others, were deprived of self-defense in Germany and elsewhere in Europe. Later, they were herded into ghettos, concentration camps, and worse. Only a few in the Warsaw ghetto, seeing what was about to happen, were able to make an organized armed resistance, and then only because they were able to wrest some weapons from the guards. These few remained alive for several months, holding the German army at bay.

No one argued, when things were peaceful, that it was a big deal to give up owndership of guns. And no one can reasonably argue that the actions of the Warsaw ghetto inmates were out of line, apart from being a tad on the late side.

So, as Mr. Ross asks in the novel (as part of a term paper his protagonist writes), at what point does it *become* reasonable to resist? His refusal to answer the question (in writing) is probably the main thing that makes the book so good: you have to answer it for yourself. I know what the answer is for me now; it was not always thus.

(A side note: JPFO--jews for the Preswervation of Firearm Ownership--formed some time ago. Their mentality, hard to deny, is "Never Again." Have a look at JPFO.com .)

Reading many of the reviews suggests that others have been similarly jolted by this book: they had to interact with the ideas in the book on their own personal levels. It is an impressive use of words. My own personal feeling is that I'd like to see Ross in public office. He certainly stirs feelings and his heart's in exactly the right place.

Is it scary? Sure. But it's better not to go through life blind to what's out there. Paranoid? It's not paranoia if it's accurate. Events over the past some years suggest that there is no paranoia involved here. I won't go into the history--others have already done it admirably.

Summary: Far too real.....
Review: Mr. Ross obiviously has quite a bit of expierence with his subject matter, and quite a way with words! This book grabs your mind and won't let go. As a novel, it is fast paced and exciting, with plot twists and turns that keep you glued to the pages. The factual data that the author uses to add to the reality element is detailed enough that members of the gun culture will love it just for the techinical information alone. And this book should be on all the Conspiracy Theroists list of "just paranoid enough" novels. This is one of the rare books that has earned a permanent place on my bookshelves, and that I can wholeheartedly reccommend to anyone that is looking for a serious look into an American subculture, or just a great novel to pass the time.

Summary: Unintended Consequences
Review: UC is an exciting and thrilling roadmap of what's happening to our Constitutional rights in America today. It's both frightening and enthralling at the same time. The only criticism I have of it is the sometimes perverse sexual backdrop. Other than that it's a fabulous book with a clear warning about losing our freedoms. a great book.

Summary: Disturbing to the point of pleasure
Review: This is one of the most incredibly enthralling novels I have read in recent years. A great American history lesson, a great fictionalized coming of age of the realization of the destruction of America's founding principles that are happening today, and an optimistic dream of a solution to cure America's ills in the future wrapped up in an adventure crafted with all of the skill of the master of the genre Tom Clancy. The FACTS presented in the history section are those never taught in schools today. The story is top notch. Highly recommended and frequently loaned.

Summary: History Lesson
Review: Unintended Consequences in a page turner in the genre of Tom Clancy and John LeCarre: thus, it is an outstanding novel. However, it is much more than a novel in that it clearly and convincingly presents what happens when a government goes out of control and destroyes its most productive citizens. Ross's argument that the BATF and other federal agencies are above the law is chilling. This is an outstanding book and I encourage everyone who loves liberty and freedom to buy it,read it, and give it to a friend to read. Our loss of liberty is about much more than the Second Amendment--it is about losing our constitutional form of government and our rights as a free people.

Summary: A Basic Patriot's Manual!
Review: A must read for all Americans who believe in the prinicpals upon which this great country was founded!

For those who don't believe in those principals, read the book anyway -- it will open your eyes to exactly what you are up against.

Summary: My review of Unintended Consequences
Review: I received the book Unintended Consequences from a neighbor. This is the first book I had read since I retired from the U.S. Navy over 15 years ago. When I started reading it I couldn't put it down. Although I realize that UI is a work of fiction, I know from personal experience that the liberals in the govt. are doing their best to deprive us of our right to bear arms.

I went to buy my wife a handgun for mother's day 2000 and was denied for an offence that I commited at age 16 (Burg. 2nd)

At age 18 I went back to court, pled not guilty, and Judge Stafford Of Washington State Superior Court accepted my plea and aquitted me, Judge Stafford issued a Court Order restoring my rights on the 12th of Sept. 1960.

I enlisted in the Air Force on 18 October 1960, went to Viet Nam in 65, got out in 1968. In 1969 I applied for and was accepted to the City Of Montevideo Minnesota Police Dept. Served there til May 1972 when I re-enlisted in the U.S. Navy. I was in the Navy until 1985 and retired with 22 years active military duty.

I have a Permit to carry a Handgun issued by the Sheriff of Aitkin County Minnesota, and I was denied when I tried to buy my wife a handgun. She also has a Permit to carry a Handgun.

Although Unintended Consequences is a work of fiction, every gun owner in the United States should read and heed it. Bad things are going on in the United States and gun owners and FFL holders had better wake up.

I bought the book from Amazon to give a fellow gun owner and he has passed it around. I'm going to get another for my Brother-in Law. This book is a must read for gun nuts like myself.

Summary: Fabulous Piece of Work
Review: I'm just another reader who is stunned by the value of this novel. Its depiction of America's shooting public is uncannily accurate. Its history lesson is invaluable. It can't be put down. It is "must" reading for everyone who can bear to read about real-life subjects.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A must read.
Review: I have given this book to several people and had them read only a page or two. As I was all have been instantly capured. Though 861 pages, it is a fast read and I was reading late into the night. This is a must read for everyone who values personal freedom. If you have been subject to any rediculous gov't regulation from wetlands regulations to helmet laws you will find this a fascinating read.
