Summary: Jungle Adventure and Mayhem
Review: This book has it all. Exotic locales and landscapes: the dark jungle, the winding rivers, the swollen swamplands. Great characters: especially the villain and villianess, a pair YOU would not want to meet on some lonely wooded trail. Stunning action: at times like plunging down the steep slope of a rollercoaster, a breathless fall with eyes wide open, fingers clutching the safety harness. Mix in suspense, strange evolutionary science, and a cool jaguar sidekick. What more could a reader want out of an adventure novel? Read it now!

Summary: GREAT! GREAT!
Review: I am not going to rewrite here what the book is about since my fellow reviewers so kindly already did that. I am just going to say that this book was GREAT!! I have been a Dean Koontz fan for years (and still am), but James Rollins books now share my bookshelve space. If anyone out there can tell me of any other authors that write like Mr. Rollins I would love to hear from you. The only others I have found that come anywhere near his style is Preston Douglas and Lincoln Child. Please e-mail me if you have any names for me Bombay@lowcountry.com.

Summary: Wonderful Book
Review: I loved this book. I couldn't put in down! I felt like a little kid trying to read a private note in class as I tried to read this book at work. I would recommend this book to anyone!

Summary: Another adventure-packed story from Rollins
Review: Very original and very well written. A member of a lost, Deep-Amazon forest expedition turns up after missing for years. Turns up with both arms, while before having one. US government wants answers and sends another expedition to find out what caused this. What awaits the members is a trail of belief, adventure, horror and magic. Great action and imagination.

Summary: A Longggg Journey to Anti-Climatic Ending
Review: A long tiresome journey to an anti-climatic ending.
Noticed inconsistencies in characters behavior in environment,
struggling to get thru jungle, and avoid dangers, yet, run ahead
6 miles to radio other team.? huh? seemed out of context, and that's just one example.
I love unbelievable & over-the-top action, that make me not care
about substance, like Matt Reilly (just love him) but was disappointed in AMAZONIA, Just my opinion.

Summary: Too Inplausible
Review: Admittedly, I purchased this book as an easy read for a vacation in Central America. The basic story line was intriguing: an expedition disappears, without a trace, in the uncharted Amazon. But, unfortunately, James Rollins is incapable of giving the reader true drama, instead relying on bizarre creatures and cliched characters to push the reader along. Despite the sometimes tedious detail and totally unrealistic plot, I soldiered on to the end, hoping the story would redeem itself. I wanted to find out about the mysterious Ban-ali tribe that haunts the book from its inception. But, the mystical Ban-ali tribe, when they are finally revealed, are so uninspiring, one dimensional and lacking in imagination that the ending can only be described as a dud.

Summary: only read if you have nothing better to do
Review: ok yes this is a good book if you have spare time, such as myself being on school holidays. yes, it was well written. yes it is easy to read. no, i didnt lose interest. yes, the ending was dissapointing, or lack there-of. it seemed like rollins couldnt be bothered explaining how they got back home from the amazon so he simply stopped writing and made a separate chapter entitles "eight months later". yes, too many people did die. yes, i do get the point - the amazon is VERY dangerous, thankyou rollins. yes, the novel takes a slight turn towards sci-fi towards the end. yes, everything eventually does turm out ok for the characters, apart from losing about 10 of their crew and one good friend. well there you have it. if you cant be bothered reading this book, ill send you a basic story line if you email me. or you could simply read the prologue, chapters 1, 2 and 20. hope i helped you,
natalie

Summary: Buckle Up
Review: This is Rollins' best book thus far. All the elements that were present in his earlier books are present here, and in a much more advanced form. The characterizations are sharp, the action fast and furious without being deadened by long-winded explanations of the weaponry, the story crystal-clear, and the science accurate and intriguing.

While much of the story is similar to Excavation, Rollins has moved the action to the Amazon river basin in South America, and the natural wonders of the rain forest climate easily top the wonders of subterranean Earth. The plants and animals talked about in this book are indigenous to the rain forest, and while we learn about the habitat the education comes as a result of a fast-paced taut tale.

An excellent read, and one you shouldn't expect to be able to put down.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Good imagination - mediocre writing
Review: Rollins seems to have a great imagination, but is not an engaging writer. Rewritten by someone with a talent for writing and at half the length, this would be an excellent book. Would probably make a good movie if produced by the right group.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Delivers start to finish action!
Review: Judging this book by its genre gives it a solid 5. Rollins gets better with each book. There is enough action to keep you up all night, and though some reviewers have not thought the characters were interesting, I disagree. I felt the characterization was excellent, especially for an adventure novel of this type. It bordered on being too gruesome in its torture details...I don't like that...but all in all this book held me spellbound throughout. The ending was totally satisfying too. I heartily recommend it. (And after you've read this one, be SURE to get Sandstorm! It is even better!)
