Summary: Great medical triller with a slight science fiction twist.
Review: I am an avid reader of medical thrillers and I must say I really enjoyed this book, particualy because of the added twist of space travel. I agree that the use of NASA acronyms was overdone and I too skipped over a lot of them after a while. However, it was a fun and interesting read that I could not put down. It was one of those good books that you really hate to see end. I did have a couple of other problems: 1) I wish the author had expanded on the main characters of this book a little more because I felt I was never given the chance to get into the character's minds as I usually do and 2) When Emma arrives in Cape Canaveral for the shuttle launch and sees the shuttle on the launch pad for the first time, Tess describes the scene very well with one exception, (I believe this is on page 52) she describes the feel of the warm Gulf breeze blowing gently against Emma's face. This is great except that Cape Canaveral is located on the East Coast of Florida, therefore, I believe the feeling should have been described as a warm Atlantic breeze. Since I am from Florida and have seen many shuttle launches up close and personal and feel I should comment on this particular sentence. However, the only reasons I didn't give the book five stars were (as stated earlier) the acronyms made reading this book a bit tedious at times and again, I wish there had been more depth to the character.

I also agree men who like science fiction may enjoy this book. Come on guys, give it a try.

Summary: Excellent book, well written and compelling. A must read!
Review: Tess Gerritsen has produced books that are real page turners and she's done it without a barrage of foul language and bedtime prowess. I carried it with me all day, to work, to the eye doctor etc. I couldn't put it down. It is every bit as good as Bloodstream. I found it hard to keep up with all the initials for the space agencies & terms, but there was a handy glossary in the back. It didn't take away from the story. I just can't wait for her to write another.

Summary: couldn't put it down
Review: I had trouble with about the first five pages of this book, then I couldn't put it down. It combines the most gripping elements of "The Hot Zone," with the sophistication of "Mars" by Ben Bova and the horror of a Stephen King thriller. Sure to be a bestseller!

Summary: The guys need to be reading this one!
Review: If you're a guy like me who likes to read Stephen Hunter or John Sandford or Michael Connelly, Baldacci is cool, Stephen King is still the king; liked Michael Crichton's AIRFRAME or SPHERE; maybe still hasn't given up on Clancy by the pound; maybe read some Michael Palmer or Robin Cook's COMA...but wouldn't read a book written by a WOMAN on a bet--c'mon guys, you know who you are--

Well, it's time to rethink your thinking.

The biggest problem you'll have with GRAVITY is that Doc Gerritsen's picture is on the inside back flap of the dust cover. And she's a petite, pretty woman with big dark eyes.

This is one cool, hair-raising, blood-splattered, techno-packed, perfectly thought-provoking, deep sea to outer-space, technically-correct, stay-up-till-dawn read.

You think you might see some "hairy-chested, bronzed muscled, quivering loins" sorta girl-book stuff?

Nope.

GRAVITY is as good a techno-thriller as has been written.

You can't be seen reading a book by a woman? Gerritsen's tough-as-nails heroine Emma Watson would easily dismiss you: "You're all f**ked up!"

Take a chance, guys. Sooner or later, you're gonna be a fan of Gerritsen.

Summary: Fast Action Story
Review: GRAVITY is Tess Gerritsen's latest novel. With the background of space exploration, anything goes and it does happen; probably too much. The story really moves, but the characters aren't given time to evolve. Jack and Emma are getting a divorce, but you never learn any more about them, except they can't meet without fighting. The relationship element of the story is very much lacking. Blend the idea of an outerspace micro organism with the space station; bodies all over the place, and you have the techno-thrill essence of this novel. Lacking character's you care about on more than a superficial level and the annoyance of too many acronyms(I kept skipping over this part after a while) this novel would have been better as a paperback. The author's previous book BLOODSTREAM was much more original as to medical cause and character. It's a good end of the summer quick read, but not one you'll go back to during the rest of the year.

Summary: Best work yet from Tess Gerritsen
Review: Tess has really captured the art of writing one of those "I couldn't put it down" books. Stephen King is on the money when he talks about burning the lights to finish this in nearly one sitting. The technical aspects and medical jargon are not so intimidating as to throw the reader off the story line. It is easy to understand, after reading this book, why New Line Cinema was so anxious to get the movie rights for this piece of work. I can visualize the special effects now.............

Summary: Nightmarish possibility of zero-G experiments
Review: I received my copy of this book on Friday afternoon and just finished it . . . wow! Gerritsen does not waste time in getting the reader's attention with catastrophe after catastrophe, beginning nineteen thousand feet below sea level and concluding two hundred fifty miles above. The blend of realistic medical details with the always entertaining military-industrial complex desire to control our destinies results in a fast-paced story that is impossible to put down. Chimeric, shall we say?

Summary: Pretty good story, but.....
Review: The basic premise of this story was very good. There was a lot of action and suspense, and the plot moved along well enough. My one quibble with this book, however, was the annoying, overabundant use of acronyms. Mentioned once or twice, okay, but the same letters used repeatedly became tiresome, and I found myself skimming in parts. Was she writing for us, the readers, or for the employees of NASA? Enough, already!

Summary: Early reviews are in!
Review: Publishers Weekly (starred review): "Gerritsen (Bloodstream) meshes medical suspense -- her specialty - and the world of space travel in another nail-biting tale of genetic misadventure. Much of this scary thriller is set aboard the International Space Station, where a team of six astronauts suddenly find themselves threatened by a virulent biohazard... Thanks to (Gerritsen's) impressive research, the novel's detailed descriptions of life in space consistently ring true."

Kirkus Reviews: "A strongly plotted thriller about a plague-like epidemic on a space station... Superb research lifts Gerritsen to the top of the ladder as Michael Crichton and Robin Cook wave from below."

From Stephen King: "Tess Gerritsen is an automatic must-read in my house. If you've never read Gerritsen, figure in the price of electricity when you buy your first novel by her... 'cause baby, you are going to be up all night."

GRAVITY is Literary Guild Main Selection, a Mystery Guild Main Selection, and a Doubleday Book Club Super Release.

Film rights have sold to New Line Cinema.

Summary: A chilling thriller with a nice touch of romance
Review: Emma Watson and Jack McCallum happily married seven years ago and remain deeply in love. However, the couple agrees to a divorce because Jack is envious of Emma's success. Emma is a qualified mission control astronaut while Jack failed to pass the health test.

An excited Emma flies on the shuttle to the Space Station to replace an astronaut whose spouse is ill. On the space station, one of the occupants dies from an unknown ailment in which his body seems to have oozed eggs of an unfamiliar organism. Soon other individuals residing on the space station also die from the disease. A distraught Jack knows he needs to find a panacea to keep his beloved Emma from being the next person to succumb to the illness.

Tess Gerritsen has a well-deserved reputation for her thrillers. Her latest novel will elate fans of medical thrillers and science fiction as well as readers of romantic suspense. GRAVITY is a non-stop action tale that rivals the best of Cook and Palmer. The exhilarating story line provides readers an insider,s look at life on the space station while taking the audience to a level of G,s rarely seen in a novel. The lead couple is an interesting duo whose relationship seems to have blown up until a crisis makes Jack realize what is really precious in life. Ms. Gerritsen is heading back to the best selling lists with this wonderful cross appeal novel.
