Rating: Summary: None stop action from start to finish!! Review: Morrell is a master of the spy/suspense/thriller and this is one of his finest. The story of Saul and Chris aka Romulus and Remus will keep you hooked from page one. If you are a fan of ACTION!! This is THE BOOK. I also highly recommend the rest of the trilogy THE FRATERNITY OF THE STONE AND THE LEAGUE OF NIGHT AND FOG. These are all incredibly gripping. 10++++
Rating: Summary: Morrell is THE best! Review: My brother first recommended this book to me after he read it twice. I began to read it and couldn't put it down! Since then I too have read it twice. Morrell has inspired me to be a writer and his charecter "Saul Grisman" is a charecter I hope to be able to create and use so well as Morrell has. The Brotherhood of the Rose is by far THE best book I have ever read. I ONLY read Morrell since the first book of his that I read (Blood Oath! Read that also!) So I hope that my words will inspire you to also purchase one of many David Morrell books! So please buy The Brotherhood of the Rose and tell others about it! P.S-Thanks Morrell! Like you, I hope that one day I can write "To David Morrell. Dear friend, you have accomplished the one thing every writer dreams of...to change someones life." like you did! Thanx...And buy this book! Blake Boyd
Rating: Summary: David Morrell is a master of writing Review: Once again David Morrell did not dissapoint me. I have been trying to obtain this book for awhile now and finally got my hands on it and I finished it in one reading. That is rare for me but in the case of Morrell I have done that with 4 other of his books. This book had me most interested. The character development was great. The story was great as it got more interesting as it went along. You really wanted to see the main characters get their revenge. The ending was great as well as the rest. This was great as I wanted to find out why this had to happen throughout the whole book and the end was shocking and I would have been mad myself. Morrell delivers. He is great. This will go down as one of the best books ever written in years to come.
Rating: Summary: Reading, Writing and Assassination Review: Saul and Chris were orphans raised in a Philadelphia boys school, bonded by everything they'd shared in their youth and by a man named Eliot, who educated them. By his side they learned world history, current events, several styles of self-defense and the fine art of assassination. Then, when they were ready, Eliot used them as spies in many perilous places. However, this last assignment he's given them may just be too much for the boys. Morrell is an exciting writer who draws you into his world of spies and counterspies and makes you believe. Five stars from me for Morrell because I was captured and captivated throughout the whole book. Reviewed by Vesta Irene
Rating: Summary: Trusted and Betrayed Review: Talk about non stop action. Morrell defines non stop action in this book. The way he describes how Chris was found and how Chris more or less recruited Saul was unusual. The way Elliot guided them while the grew up in the orphanage and gained there absolute trust and the way Elliot betaryed them. The way he trained them to be assassins was unique. Best of all was the way Saul drove Elliot out of the Sanctuary. It was both entertaining and original. This book is a must read and has you guessing all the way until the end of the book what is going to happen. I recomend this book to anyone who likes thrillers and suspense novels.
Rating: Summary: One of the absolute best in this genre! Review: The Brotherhood of the Rose is a spectacular effort! David Morrell is a master and this book attests to his gift of making stories that are thoroughly riveting. The plot and pace of this book is a standout in itself among Morrell's novels. The characters and story grip you right from the start and you will soon know what the term "unputdownable" really means. I read this novel many years ago and gave it to my cousin. Since then, no action novel I've read has surpassed this book in terms of plot and excitement.
Rating: Summary: Overwrought emotion stifles energetic plot Review: The plot centers around two brothers raised as assassins by a top CIA director who offers himself as a foster father to gain their trust. The book focuses on the angst created when a father figure turns against his sons. Though the action was entertaining, the emotions were overwrought and rang false. It became tedious to hear the characters say again and again that their throats 'ached with love' as they planned their revenge. Artifacts of their love, like candy bars, seemed ridiculous in their repetition. I know that most other reviewers raved about this book but I'm struggling to understand why.
Rating: Summary: Why doesn't David have several sequals to this great book? Review: There are enough readers out there to put any sequals to Fraternity, and B of Rose on the best sellers list. Maybe Iowa was too long ago.
Rating: Summary: Morrell is top notch here!!!!! Review: This book is one of Morrell's finest, along with THE FIFTH PROFESSION and EXTREME DENIAL. It moves right from the start and doesn't let you go. Morrell's writing is fast-paced and intense. a fantastic thriller.
