Summary: Ashes to Ashes will keep you dodging the flames.
Review: Tami Hoag has written a frightening, detailed book ,using characters you love, hate, fear, and fear for. There is a lot of violence and descriptions that leave NOTHING to your imagination. However, Tami is so good at what she does that she manages to keep you looking forward with every page. The book gets harder and harder to put down the farther you get into it. Surely this is a movie-to-be. It has everything, even including a love affair. Made for Hollywood. Wonder who will play the leads?

Summary: Sigh... another typical thriller
Review: It's too bad that all these so-called "pycho-thrillers" are all starting to read alike. This one reminded me so much of "Billy Straight" by Jonathan Kellerman, with the father as the possible suspect "deal". Tami Hoag barely delves into the mind of her killer, just a few mind bits here and there, and most of the book takes place with everyone else trying to figure out their emotions. And then when you find out who the killer actually is - you're still left wondering why? As for it being graphic, it barely scrapes the gore surface. I'll pass on the next one...

Summary: Stoke Up The Bonfire!!
Review: Can an author devise a better character than The Cremator? I don't think so. The only reason this audio is a 4 instead of a 5 is the reader. Doesn't quite pull off the male voices. But the plot is fast and the protagonists believable. Unfortunately I had a good idea of the killer's identity well into tape 3. Oh well, it's nice to be proved right for once. Don't listen to this with the kids in the car because they will have very bad dreams.

Summary: A good thriller.
Review: If you have a free afternoon or evening, give this one a try. It was a real page turner and I couldn't put it down. The plot and characterization were a little cliched, but solid. Overall, an entertaining read.

Summary: Absolutely fabulous
Review: I think ASHES TO ASHES is awesome, truly one of Hoag's best. The writing was crisp, the dialogue razor-sharp and incredibly witty, the characterizations flawless. This book could be brought to the big screen with virtually no tweaking. Nearly every line had emotional impact, even the descriptions of Minneapolis in November. This is a real star turn for an author who out-suspenses Grisham, Cornwall, and both Pattersons. If you're looking for a book you won't want to put down until you've turned the last page, this is it!

Summary: depressingly shallow
Review: First off, I haven't read so much unnecessary detail since that debacle of writing, Frazier's Cold Mountain. Hoag seems to want to throw everything in here she can think of.

And then what does she think of? Mostly, anything that's mindless, shallow, callow. Yes, I read this thing for sheer entertainment. I wanted to "waste" a Saturday afternoon with a book, looking out at the snow in Manhattan. Instead, I was so irritated by the characters--just cliches masquerading as people--that I soon found myself skimming whole pages, muttering, "yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah."

And then comes the ending. I think if she tried to get more banalities into that final chapter, she couldn't have done it. I don't think I've ever seen so many little greeting card sentiments in so few pages. All this, and graphic violence too. Well, it did the trick. I wasted the afternoon. Just not enjoyably.

Summary: A real Page turner!
Review: Ms. Hoag grabs your attention and never lets go. I tried to savor this book by reading a few pages at a time, instead I was up most of the night. Her dialogue is snappy and you feel like you are in the room with her characters. I'm sure all women will fall in love with the brooding Quinn and understand Kate. As always, with Ms. Hoag, its a dynamite read that you will keep on your bookshelf to be read and read again. Or at least until the next Tami Hoag novel hits the stores.

Summary: Terrific suspense!
Review: This was a great book with a very suspenseful plot. Come on, you romance fans! If you can't stand serial killer books, don't take it out on Tami! She writes GREAT thrillers! I was hooked from page one, and the identity of the "Cremator" was a surprise to me. The suspense just kept growing as I turned the pages faster! Let's have another one soon, Tami!
