Rating: Summary: Interesting but hardly original. Review: This book read like an episode of "Murder She Wrote" or even the old Scooby Doo cartoons. Introduce the main characters, have one of them murdered, make everyone look suspicious, introduce a conspiracy, then solve the mystery. I solved the mystery myself not by analyzing the facts from the story but by simply looking at the plot and seeing things that Clark obviously had to tie up before ending the book. The book was a fast read and kept me at least a little entertained, but it wasn't groundbreaking.
Rating: Summary: An easy book to put down, atypical of MHC. Review: I've read four MHC books in the last week and this was a disappointment. If you want to start with a good one, try Loves Music, Loves to Dance or A Cry in the Night. In Moonlight Becomes You, there is virtually no tension. Her choice for the prologue, Maggie buried alive, is probably the only element that kept me reading. In addition to this, her writing style has either changed - for the worse - or the book is not written by her. There are a number of leaden phrases - boy, do they go clunk - and they are by no means scattered. Has she become too successful and lazy, or just too hurried? Maggie is an extremely flat character. Personally, I didn't care what happened to her. The only characters written with much flair were her stepmother and a friend, and they got killed off pretty early. Liam is about as much of a cardboard cutout as you'll ever see. I hate to criticize - writing a novel is an incredible challenge - but if a writer has produced quality works in the past then he or she should be able to do it again. MHC has written some wonderful stories, and she deserves loyalty from her readers. Unfortunately, she's let her readers down with Moonlight Becomes You.
Rating: Summary: The best yet! Review: I've always admired her for her style of writing but this time shes out done herself! The suspense the deceice it captivated my mind for hours it's certainly her best yet! Sarah Carr
Rating: Summary: Very enjoyable Review: Some pages were a little slow for awhile, but the character development that occured on those pages certainly helped build the tension and interest as the story went on. As the plot thickened, it got better and better with each step. A very, very good read.
Rating: Summary: Well written, good moving plot. Not bad at all. Review: This was the first of MHC's books which I have read and I thought it was done very well. It has good writing and a farely good flowing plot. If all of MHC's other books are better than this one, then she is and artist with words. Over all, I enjoyed reading this book.
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: If you have never read anything by MHC, like I have, since this book, it's a good place to start! I usually read fantasy, and the occasional mystery. But when I read this book, I was hooked! MHC, is an incredible writer, and can keep you up long past your bedtime! I have another favorite author to add to the list!
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: It took a while for me to get into this book but when I did it got very exciting! I was intrigued by the Victorian bells that mysteriously appeared on the graves. Earl Bateman was definitely a strange character! I liked Maggie, she was a nice and realistic character. You don't want to miss this book, but I suggest not renting the movie when you're done!
Rating: Summary: This has to be the worst MHC book I've ever read! Bleecch! Review: I could put this down any day. I only wound up reading the first 36 pages of the book and by that time I was so bored that I couldn't take it anymore. The characters are rich (what else?) and the plot meanders on stupid dinner parties and family reunions. If you really want a good MHC book, try "The Lottery Winner" or "Let Me Call You Sweetheart."
Rating: Summary: Good reading but not one of her best Review: Moonlight Becomes You is good reading - MHC fans will read the book no matter what. I bought it in hardcover but I could have waited for the paperback though. The best MFC book that I have read is Cry in the Night. I was reading it at night and had difficulty to sleep. :)
Rating: Summary: I could put it down. Review: I have read every MHC book, some more than once. This is her worst to date. I got the impression that MHC was merely fulfilling her contract as opposed to creating a story that would entertain her readers. Her characters are flat, her writing style is lazy. I had no trouble turning off the light at 10 p.m.
