Rating: Summary: What a great and entertaining story!!!! Review: There is nothing better than a tale told well with riveting characters of evocative emotion. It is great to read a story that winds its way around interlacing centuries and accessible geography with unpredictable and yet always satisfying outcomes. Danny Ferguson's characters fade in and out of a world which could only be described by a trial lawyer of Danny's obvious eminence, where "justice" is a verb describing an active pursuit of an outcome always at risk. I liked his story and his people better than Grisham's lawyer books because Danny's are more idealistic and truer to our profession's better instincts. His young lawyer lead is right on the mark and his villan is quintessential. He tells a story more akin to real literature than to contemporary cliche. It is a book that can be read and enjoyed by those of any age and there is nothing offensive about its language or base about its outlook. It is entertainment on every page, and every page is an advancement.
Rating: Summary: Page Turner Review: This book is written so that you can read just a few pages and have a stopping place, but alas I found I was always wanting to read just a few more pages until I just kept reading and reading. The book really grips your interest and makes you anxious to see what happens next. I thought it was an excellent book and it is certainly hard to believe that this is Danny Ferguson's first novel. I for one hope it is not his last.
Rating: Summary: The Pirate Legend Review: This is a good book. The author writes with a knowledge of the NC coast - its waterways and the people who live there. Toby Greene, a descendent of Blackbeard wants revenge, but crosses a Marine who fights to protect his daughter. A lawyer, a politician, and an innocent victim become embroiled in the conflict. Many people are seen in a new light.
Rating: Summary: Blackbeard lives! Review: This is an exciting book. Blackbeard returns to seek revenge for his death. The author skillfully blends history, technology, greed, and passion with his knowledge of the NC coast and the legal profession. The story is tantalizing and has just enough ring-of-truth to make the reader wonder and appreciate due process. I throughly enjoyed the book and am looking forward to the next one. Who knows, maybe it will be about finding the treasure (you know it's there) and establishing ownership.
Rating: Summary: the pirate's booty Review: Wow , Blackbeard's back and just as scary as he was the first time around .His self-determination may include kidnapping and teen-rape for starters , but that's only the tip of his iceberg....and what a deadly iceberg it is that lurks below the surface of the historic and beautiful waters of Eastern North Carolina .Danny Ferguson weaves the past with the politically power-filled present to give his readers a sense of how much power can manipulate .I'm waiting for the sequel, and keeping my light on at night and the doors all securely locked .
