Rating: Summary: The Search Review: Iris Johansen has done a wonderful job with her newest suspence novel. After "The Killing Game" I very much wanted to know what would happen to Logan, and "The Search" meets all my expectations. Read this book! But remember that it's the third in a series! Read "The Deception" and "The Killing Game' first. It makes "The Search" much more involving.
Rating: Summary: If you pick it up you won't want to put it down. Review: This was even better than "The Face of Deception". I couldn't put it down. The story moves quickly and never boggs down. You never have to wonder "what is she talking about" because Ms. Johansen is such a great storyteller. I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: A good read for Suspense/Thriller fans Review: I would recommend you read the previous books by Ms. Johansen (involving John Logan and Eve Duncan) before reading The Search. I liked this book thought the plot was great. However, I thought alot of detail was left out. I would have liked more information on why certain things happened near the end. Will not spoil it for those who have not read it. If you have read Ms. Johansen previous books and enjoyed them you will like The Search. Hopefully, she will continue the John Logan and Sarah Patrick relationship.
Rating: Summary: short but sweet Review: in her latest outing, johansen does stretch it a bit to make 298 pages-but, it does merit an afternoon of reading time. focusing on sarah&monty's talents (hence the title...)as search and rescue for atf, johansen takes you for a fast paced, and morbid ride, running from logan's past. the plot fits together, and has well placed revelations that may or may not be surprises, depending on how much you read mystery novels. and the romance between logan and sarah certainly keeps the reader wondering how they are going to get and stay together, because, as we know, they will! if you liked the previous novels, you will like this one too-even if it is not as original and eve doesn't appear too often-still good to have.
Rating: Summary: An Iris Johansen Newbie - but loving every minute of it! Review: I have just discovered Ms. Johansen's series of books and have truly enjoyed - The Killing Game, The Search and my favorite so far The Ugly Duckling. I love the romance splashed into the suspensive story line. I can't wait to go back and read all that I have missed. I would however, like to know more about her and her books. If anyone could tell me more, I would love to know more. My email is spiderwm30@juno.com.
Rating: Summary: The Search Review: Having previous read and enjoyed Iris Johansen's books with the Eve Duncan character, I was very disappointed with this offering. In her previous books when she introduced the John Logan character, I had mixed feeling about him. I felt like he was supposed to be a likeable good-guy character and he just doesn't come off that way to me. I just don't like the guy or care about him. The Monty (dog) and Maggie (wolf) romance was so completely stupid and unbelievable, that I almost shut the book right then and there. This book was BORING, BORING, BORING. Never did figure out what "search" the title was even talking about.
Rating: Summary: Just a comment for Ms Johansen Review: Your books are fantastic however, I believe that there is an error that was easy to make but not easy to catch. This appears on p. 89 of the hard-cover THE SEARCH. If you give a canine Tylenol it can be very harmful to them--always give aspirin. At least this is what my vet told me when I was raising reg. German Shepherds. MLG2245@aol.coom
Rating: Summary: Same Thrill Again Review: If you liked Iris's past several thrillers involving Logan, Eve, Sarah and her golden retreiver, chances are, you will like this book well enough. If you did not like the forensic science, search dogs & tough Logan ordering folks about, you will not like this book. Not much has changed or taken place since the past books involving these characters. Logan wants Sarah and her dog for another mission. So poor long-suffering Sarah is dragged in once again. I felt the reasons for this mission were not well explained at all. I could not really get involved in the chase or the urgency of the moment because I was not given enough information to really care about the guy Logan was trying to save. This book focuses more on Sarah and Monty, rather than Eve's forensice work. There are no neat endings for the characters as in most romantic novels. I could not really feel very involved in Logan & Sarah's growing relationship since there had been such a level of anipathy between them in the past. I did not feel the growth of their relationship and deeper affection was well explored or handled. One second Sarah is glowering at him, the next...well...no spoilers here.... It is a good read. I gave it fewer stars because I would like to see a bit more back story as to how and why this urgent mission came about than Logan is a big hot shot business person with big world ties.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: I finished this book in about 5 hours primarily because as another reviewer noted, the book had to be stretched to make 384 pages. While I have enjoyed Johansen's books in the past, this latest one (as well as the one introducing Sarah Parker) was extremely disappointing. I'm sorry I paid to get a hardcover. While the plot had potential, the relationship between Parker and Logan was superficial at best. Without a lot of character development, it stretched credibility to believe that Logan would fall in love with Parker in the span of a week or so. I really like both of these characters and would look forward to a good book about them. The cover jacket states that Johansen is working on another book. I'll be more cautious next time and wait for the paperback.
Rating: Summary: Just as good as the rest! Review: I was so excited to see that the story of Logan/Sarah/Monty/Eve/Joe/Bonnie etc. had been continued! Just like the previous books about this group, The Search is definately a page-turner! The character building is lessened in this "episode" because we've had two books to get to know everyone; so it leaves room for Ms. Johansen to tell the story...and what a story it is! What I enjoyed most of all was finding out the history behind John Logan which helped explain some of his actions/thoughts from The Face of Deception and The Killing Game. I would be absolutely thrilled to see more about this group hit the shelves!
