Rating: Summary: Nicely Done Review: I enjoyed this book. Being an animal lover, I surely related to the bond that Sarah and Monty had together. I also related very much to her independent character and "set in her ways" point of view. Her need to help people no matter what was admirable and believable. Just look at the people from Sept. 11th. The fact that she became involved with Logan is totally understandable. The story keeps you guessing and I like the way it was pulled together toward the end. The villian, Rudzak, could have been just a bit stronger in my opinion. All in all, I truly enjoyed this book. I will "search" out more of her books in the very near future.
Rating: Summary: One of the BEST books I ever read Review: "The Search" was an excellent book. It was like a hypnosis. I didn't want to put it down! The beginning seems a tiny bit boring but as you get further into the book it gets more intresting. Iris Johansen really wrote a story. I just don't mean ~a story~ I mean an ultimate page turner.Trust me. You WON'T be disapointed! Note: Has swearing in the book.
Rating: Summary: "Search" for a Better Book Review: "The Search" is the first of Iris Johansen's books that I have read and most likely the last. Fortunately I borrowed it; I am certainly glad I didn't pay good money for it. I have seen some of the other reviews and it is amazing that a fair number of people really liked this book; admittedly it's escapist junk but it's not good escapist junk. The story centers around one of the most unlikable characters I've ever encountered and her wonder dog; apparently she can read his mind, which is only one of the more unbelievable aspects of the story. The rest of it deals with some sort of effort to find and either capture or kill a guy who has a vendetta against another guy who did something to the first guy a long time ago that involved a former girlfriend, wife, whatever and the dog is needed because...never mind. The protagonist whines and mopes around constantly, is unpleasant to those around her most of the time, and near the end suddenly falls into a passionate love affair with one of the guys mentioned above that isn't remotely believable. If that hasn't convinced you that this is not a very well written book, I haven't even mentioned the idiotic subplot about the romance between the dog and the wolf! Oh, and the supposedly surprise ending should be predicted by anyone with an IQ over 30. Guess by now you've figured out that I didn't like "The Search." My guess is that most of you won't either.
Rating: Summary: The Search Review: KLR October 9, 2001 The Search This novel, The Search written by Iris Johansen, is a great book that you find yourself not wanting to put down. It is a very action filled, intense novel with a little romance thrown in. Eve Duncan is a forensic sculptor whose daughter was brutally murdered. John Logan helped Eve to find her daughter's body and bring her home. When Logan suddenly faces a horrible problem from his past he calls on a friend of Eve's, Sarah Patrick. Sarah and her dog Monty are part of a search and rescue team and Logan knows he must have her cooperation to deal with this horrible fate. Logan promises to help Sarah get away from her boss as long as she will help him do this one job. But the one job Logan had planned turned out to be a whole lot different. As Sarah and Logan stay together longer to help innocent people, they start to develop a chemistry between them, something that will last a while. Iris Johansen did a great job in keeping the book suspenseful. She makes all the characters have their own story line and she shows them interacting well together.
Rating: Summary: A great thriller with a side of romance Review: I'm just a teenager and this is my first book that I have read from Iris Johanson. My dad had read her books and so I decided to read it. I really enjoyed this book. It almost makes me regret not reading her first two books that came before The Search. I could not put the book down. I normally do not like romantic novels, but this book combined the romance with a thriller. Logan and Sarah had a great connection. Along with Monty and Sarah. It was amazing how they understood each other. I absoltely loved this book. If you have not read this book you are greatly missing out of a amazing novel!
Rating: Summary: This a romance novel thinly disguised as a thriller Review: I bought this book expecting a thriller with good action. What i got was a romance novel centered around a search dog with an IQ that would rival Einstein (now I've used a dog or two in my books, but never to this extent). Anyway, if you want a romance novel with a lot of unrealistic action and improbable situations, this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: Best Read in Years!!!! Review: This was my first read of Johansen's. I could not put it down. Sarah and John's relationship kept me intrigued and reading. I haven't read a book this good in years. Great suspense, exctiting action scenes, wonderful love story! I am looking forward to her next book and I am currently back tracking the "eve, john, sarah' storyline now. I loved this book!!! You can't go wrong with this one! Buy it now, you won't be sorry!
Rating: Summary: Exhilerating Review: This is the first Irish Johansen book I've ever read, and because it was sooo good (I couldn't leave the chair for hours at time until it was finished, and then I didn't want it to end) I am going to buy The Killing Game and Face of Deception now! I normally hate romance in a mystery book like this, but this was by far the best book with romance I have ever read. I truly wished I was Sarah because Logan just sounded like MY dream man (not with the killing and all, but it definetly made him more of a 'bad boy')
Rating: Summary: SEARCHing for a good book? Review: For some reason I picked up this book.... and then had a hard time putting it down. IRis Johansen weaves a good well-written story. While I have yet to read any other of her books, this one was good from cover to cover.
Rating: Summary: BOW WOW Review: This is my first Iris Johansen book, and in spite of the many cliches and stereotypical characters and situations, I found it an enjoyable read. The characters of Sarah and John Logan are fun to see develop and avoid the obvious romantic entanglement that awaits them by the denouement. Monty the dog and Maggie the wolf are about as believable as Heckle and Jeckle, but hey, it's a book, right? You have to suspend belief in a story like this. Supporting characters of Galen and Bassett are fun, also, and the twists and turns involving who is really the "Judas" are well done, too. The villain is a cardboard character; one can almost see him in one of those silent movies, where we would hiss and boo him. His final confrontation with Logan is rather hasty and anticlimactic, but the whole novel works mainly because it's so entertaining in its simplicity.I will try and go back and read previous novels with these characters.
