Summary: very slow
Review: I found this book to move very slowly. In fact, I had lost interest in the book about 1/4 of the way into it, and I had to force myself to read the rest of it. The only character I thought was interesting was Monty...the dog.

Summary: Thrilling with a touch of romance
Review: I'm a new reader of Iris Johansen novels, and now I'm becoming a fan. Usually I can't find an author who has two books that thrill me to the point where I read the book in one day, but her writing style has definitely captivated me. She has just the perfect amount of suspense, thrill, and romance to keep you turning the pages. The first novel I read, The Face of Deception, was extremely thrilling that it made my heart race, but I loved this one even more. I love the type of strong-willed female characters she chooses, and that John Logan!

Summary: Part of a series
Review: This series was easy to read with great charaters, it keeps you interested while wondering if somehow, sometime you will meet up again. The suspense and romance marry together quiet well in this book its worth looking out for the rest of the series.

Summary: It's a rare gem!
Review: This is my first experience with Ms Johansen's work. It was awesome! Even though I'm not familiar with the characters (they were introduced in her earlier novels), I was quickly captivated by Sarah and Logan. Sarah and her partner Monty, a golden retriever, is one of the best search and rescue teams. Logan is a millionaire with a gigantic computer and technological company. He has an apparent history with Rudzak, a psychotic killer whose obsessed with destroying Logan. When Rudzak raided Logan's research facility in Colombia, killing all his employees except for one, who was kidnapped, Logan employs Sarah to search for him. He also brings in his own army of militant men to counterattack Rudzak.

I was surprised of Logan's character. He's not a conventional hero or businessman. In fact, he's militia trained and does his share of killing. As I was reading this book, I take note that some of his strategies and actions against the villain were mostly illegal. It's like carrying out personal warfare, with his own army and bombs. It's unbelievable to a point.

Anyway, the story is full betrayals and emotional twists. Without any prior knowledge of Logan's history, I was unable to stop myself from reading to find out why the animosity between the villain and the hero. As a fan of romantic suspense, I absolutely love the romance between Sarah and Logan. This book has all the ingredients of what I call a great novel: suspense, thrilling action, strong heroine, complicated hero, love and emotion!

I can't wait to read Ms Johansen's prior works Sarah and Logan were introduced as secondary characters (the Killing Game and Face of Deception)! I hope there will be more novels in the future featuring them. Also, the character Galen deserves to be the focus of a future book!

Highly recommended!

Summary: The Search
Review: I really enjoyed reading the book "The Search" by Iris Johansen. I think that it is a well written book. The vocabulary is very well used and not hard to understand. I think that Iris Johansend did a very good job writing this book. It is interesting and sometimes suspenseful. It keeps you wanting to read on.

Summary: Very Similiar to "Face of Deception"
Review: At times I felt like I was rereading the same book. Logan
works with difficult independent talented woman that he
needs desperately to help him. In the process he gets her
into a dangerous situation. While they tough out the dangers
they fall in love. Together they battle good vs. evil. Oops which book am I reading again?

Nonetheless the characters are fun and interesting. While
her plot is formulaic, you still can't put it down. So
if you liked Face of Deception you'll enjoy this. Just don't
expect anything too different.

Summary: Bleak, Predictable.... overall entertaining at most.
Review: Bleak and lacking. The story line could have used more creative writing. Predictable story and not very creative ending to it. Reuse of characters and old story lines.

To the author's credit I must say that the characters are real, and with this I mean they are not "super heroes" who escape from every imaginable dangerous situation, they are vulnerable and you feel it all through the story. Maybe the exception is the eccentric Multi-Millionaire Logan, but Sarah and Monty are nice characters anyone can relate to. The story, however, leaves much to be desired. I had read "The Face of Deception" and that kept me on my toes...definitely a page-turner. This story makes almost no sense. The reason why the "bad guy" does what he does, even though explained later in the story, still left me unsatisfied. I emphasize that I disagree with the reuse of characters into a significant role within the plot, to the point of being almost an indispensable element, which demonstrates the lack of substance in the story itself and seems to be filler content.

Overall an "entertaining" read, not memorable but ok! Specially when coming from Johansen. I'd expect more, but I can live with it :)
