Summary: Read With Fury
Review: Having read the other reviews, I'm so glad to have had this particular Catherine Coulter book be my first. Sort of like having your "easy" child first so that the others can follow but I admitingly ENJOYED this book very much; found it hard to put down and will search for Savich & Sherlock to peek my curosity.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Sensational Suspense Thriller...
Review: Hemlock Bay by talented writter Catherine Coulter is a sensational suspense thriller that will have the reader swiftly turning the pages--FBI agents (husband and wife team) Lacey Sherlock and Dillon Savich are in the middle of an 'errie' case involving two psychopathic killers as well as a series of ghoulish kidnappings when suddenly trouble strikes on the home front. A book not to be missed!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: A disappointing Coulter - what a shame.
Review: At first as I was attempting to read Hemlock Bay, I thought I was just allowing other things to distract me and therefore causing me to lose the flow of the book. I kept reminding myself of how much I had enjoyed reading every other Catherine Coulter book - especially the suspense series involving the FBI characters. But, I finally had to admit, that this one was just not up to Coulter's usual style. Hopefully, she will put this one behind her, and return to her usual style.
I'm still wondering about those "Ghouls" and Tammy or was it Timmy's acts of illusions!

Summary: Very Disappointed
Review: Having become a avid Catherine Coulter fan, I was very disappointed with this book. Her previous Sherlock/Savich books seemed to have some depth to them, but not this one. The Lily character was very insulting to any woman who has half a brain. The Simon character was slightly better but still trite. The dialog was terrible and the Tammy/Timmy thing was just out there somewhere. I read to be entertained, to travel to places I haven't been and to meet interested people. This book did none of those things.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Had potential but was too predictable!
Review: I thought I would really like this Catherine Coulter novel but I was pretty disappointed! It seemed like there were 2 separate stories going on..the one with Savich's sister & her "dilemma" and the story of the "Tuttle twins". They were pretty OK stories on their own but the plot with Savich's sister was very formulaic & the one with the Tuttle twis was just plain weird! They didn't tie the two stories together at all & Coulter never really gave resolution to the Tuttle story and the "ghouls". She never really explained their origin or cause, etc. She just got you to the end of the book and you're at the last page thinking "...AND.....???". Not her best work, I'm afraid!

Summary: It's Fiction
Review: Hemlock Bay strains to keep all the plots together and make sense of any of them, but somehow it remains an entertaining read. FBI Agent Dillion Savich and his wife Sherlock work together trying to solve cases explain all the mysteries.

It begins with Dillion chasing down a serial killer named Tim (or Tammy)who has been kidnaping young boys and then luring them into circles painted on the floor so that the "ghouls" could
have them. Dillion actually senses the presence of the ghouls during the shootout. Shortly afterwards his sister, Lucy, is in an automobile accident and is accused of trying to kill herself.
Coincidentally, Lucy and Dillion both own extremely valuable paintings left to them by their grandmother. Lucy's loving husband of several months is more interested in the paintings than he is in Lucy, and several of the paintings have disappeared having been replaced by quality forgeries. At this point we hear about an eccentric collector who is probably trying to collect all of the existing original paintings.
Dillion eventually tracks down the one-armed Tim/Tammy, exposes the husband and the in-laws from hell, and retrieves the paintings. What is never quite resolved is how the ghouls came to be or how they were eliminated.

Hemlock Bay is to be recommended if you don't require tidy endings and prefer a good escape "read" to an evening with tv and commercials.

Summary: not so good
Review: not her best effort. in fact, it was quite possibly the weakest plot i've read in some time. both too much and too little going on.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Hemlock Bay
Review: I paid full price for this hardcover book and feel must warn others who have read/liked other Catherine Coulter novels. There is no way to say this nicely...THIS BOOK IS AWFUL! The dialogue is stilted, the plots (there are two) are so far fetched as to be unbelievable and there is no character development. Even the physical discriptions of her recurring characters are inconsistent with the previous novels. Don't waste your time or your money.

Summary: In one word "silly".
Review: I want take up a lot of time with this review, enough was wasted reading the book. Obviously there was little research done. Example: Show me a permit department that has maintained drawing of an old barn somewhere in the country side, for fifty years. A husband and wife team working as FBI partners in the field.
Some statements seemed to be thrown in at the most inopportune times. Example: During a heavy interrogation of Tenyson, the author goes into the woody flavor of a dinner wine served.
Another great statement by Lily's brother Savich and sister in-law Sherlock: Oh! by the way, those pictures our grandma left us are worth a million apiece and you have eight. Lily is a thirty year old artist herself, but is shocked at this. Lily is not smart but a very good fighter. Just a couple of days after having her spleen removed, she beats up an attacker that is trying to kill her with a knife.
I know this book is fiction but get real. After the first chapter, I read it as a comedy.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Fast-Moving
Review: This book leaves you almost breathless in its action, and I for one thoroughly enjoyed it. Not only does it bring back Savich & Sherlock, but it also introduces some supernatural forces which are, appropriately, not entirely explained. The ending is a bit cryptic, and the romance angle could have been a little better developed, but you'll want to read this one through in one sitting, because there are some unexpected twists and turns, and you really don't know what's going to happen next. I can't wait for the next installment, because I have a feeling there may be a really good sequel in the offing.
