Summary: What Happened?
Review: Since I first picked up a copy of Chandra a good 20 years or so ago, Catherine Coulter's work was tops on my list.

In recent years there has been very little new work, mostly rewrites of her previous historicals and now her recent modern series.

Something has happened to this author and it certainly isn't good. Maybe it's time for a well earned vacation and some fresh ideas before the bottom drops out. While SOME of her modern series is readable enough, it lacks the Coulter talent and charm of her previous works. Many of our favored historical romance authors are attempting to switch genres, Julie Garwood, Linda Howard, Karen Robards and Iris Johansen to name a few. Some are outstanding successes and others have failed miserably in the attempt although loyal readership seems to keep them going.

I'm sure I'll keep reading, hopefully Ms. Coulter will keep writing. We can only hope that she (and others succumbing to the temptation to switch genres) will listen to the comments of their loyal readers.

Summary: Sorry, but I liked it.
Review: I know I seem to be bucking the trend here, but I found Hemlock Bay to be an enjoyable read. There's nothing wrong with having two plots in the same book providing they're both interesting and easy to follow, which these were. DRIVEN, an excellent book by up and coming W. G. Griffiths was another recent thriller that could be the best book I ever read.

Summary: Hemlock Bay is poisonous to a readers mind
Review: Don't waste your time on this one.
There is not one likeable character in this book.

Dillon is perfect, Sherlock (and what's w/that name?)is the only woman who has ever given birth to a perfect child.
Simon Russo is smart, sexy and oh yes, he was once married, but divorced and was she a secretary? Of course not, she's now a 2 star general.
And Dillon and Lily's Mom. She's dating a garbageman, right? No way, he's a U.S. Congressman (thank God we didn't get both of them in the book).

Summary: Don't buy this!!!
Review: Unbelievable....with all the writers out there trying to get published, that this apparent first draft made it out in hardcover. Was her editor on vacation? The dialogue is horrible. The characters and interaction between them is confusing and not at all thought out. It really does seem like what I would expect her first drafts of her FBI novels to look like. I, too, am an avid fan of Coulter's FBI series and was looking forward to reading this. What a disappointment. I will definitely wait for paperback on the next one, and then I will read reviews first.

Summary: different spin which was good
Review: I thought the book was really good. I put off reading it for awhile but when I got into it I could not put it down. I liked the supernatural elements going on and I love the characters Savich and Sherlock. If you read pervious books by Coulter with Savich and Sherlock you would like this one.

Summary: Keep Near The Fireplace
Review: I usually love to keep books that I have read...but will certainly make an exception for this clunker. Where can you start in reviewing this junk? Ridiculous plot lines...poorly developed characters acting unbelievably...and those are the GOOD points! Don't waste your time or money on this one...but keep it near the fireplace...at least it burns well.

Summary: very poor effort
Review: I have read all of Catherine Coulter's books and have enjoyed most all of them. This is the first book of any author that has prompted me to write a review. Do not waste your money on this book! If you feel you must read it, go to the library. Ms. Coulter must have been under a tremendous deadline to have gotten this book; with it's juvenile dialogue and ridiculous plots, through her editor. I just finished the book and am still shaking my head. What was she thinking?

Summary: Save your money and your time
Review: This is possibly one of the poorest written books I've ever
read. There are too many plot lines and none of them make any
sense. The characters are shallow and one-dimensional. It is basically a very silly book. It's not a mystery or a gothic novel, yet it tries to be both. I would recommend that the discerning reader give this book the cold shoulder and find something else, anything else to read.

Summary: Interesting if a bit strange......
Review: I have read most if not all of Ms. Coulter's books featuring Savich and Sherlock, and I liked them all. This one had some supernatural stuff that was difficult for me to relate to, which kept me a little off-balance throughout the book. I enjoyed it, but never quite felt that I knew what was happening, even after I read it. I think if the main characters had been anyone else, or if the reader was unfamiliar with Savich and Sherlock, the story would have fallen flat.

Summary: why is she a best seller??
Review: Catherine Coulter, either needs to become a romance writer or a mystery writer, but she tries to combine the two, and it doesn't work. I would not reccommend this book to anyone that likes a well written mystery, but would reccommend it to those that enjoy a book that has unrequited love, 9 unsuccessful murder attempts, and foolish unbelievable FBI agents.
