Summary: Good read, but not top-drawer Milhone mystery
Review: Moving along at a relatively comfortable pace, the newest Kinsey Milhone mystery will please most new readers to Grafton's private detective series, but long time followers will want for more. Kinsey is away from her home base for most of the novel, while investigating the last days of a deceased police detective from a small town. Kinsey appears to have wandered into a town where everyone knows everyone else, and they turn against her when she stumbles into several old murders best left unsolved. Earlier books in the series had better, more intricate, plots with greater substance. Its not difficult to guess who the unknown assailant is in this book, even though some important information is withheld from the reader until the end.

Summary: N Is for Noose
Review: As usual, Sue Grafton has brought Kinsey to life. Kinsey is an enjoyable character and one that is believable - one that would be a great friend! I have read all of the previous Kinsey books and enjoyed both the characters and the locations. I live in the Santa Barbara area on weekends and love to search out the various locations that Ms. Grafton gives alias' to - I am anxious to purchase and read the N volume.

Summary: How can one NOT like Kinsey Millhone?
Review:

I really, really like Sue Grafton's alter-ego, Kinsey Millhone. After all, how can you NOT like someone who has the courage to cut her own hair with cuticle scissors?

Maybe this wasn't one of Grafton's most thrilling or intriguing mysteries, but it certainly affirms Kinsey's tenancity once she gets "on" a case, albeit a weak one with few clues.

Anyone from the 60's will enjoy the climax...the criminal should have known that Kinsey is at her best when cornered, be it by humans or chemicals.

I have one entire shelf dedicated to Kinsey....and I eagerly await each new release. Kinsey Millhone is someone I would like to know.

Keep up the good work!

Summary: WONDERFUL, LIKE HER PREVIOUS WORKS
Review: I've read all the Kinsey Millhone books by Sue Grafton and buy each one as soon as I see it on the shelf. The character development continues... I also enjoyed the interview Amazon posted with Sue Grafton. The insight into the author was wonderful.

Summary: Plodding Plotting Prevents PI from Piquing Previous Passion
Review: Ordinarily I love Sue Grafton and Kinsey Millhone. Kinsey is one of the best developed characters in mystery history. And yet, with her latest endeavor, Grafton presents a plot so bogged down in minutiae that the reader is hard-pressed to continue on to page 100 when something finally happens. I long for the excitement I came to expect from A is for Alibi. When I read that book, I gasped rather immediately and didn't exhale until the very last sentence. Now, THAT was writing!!

Summary: Definitely Sue Grafton at her best!
Review: I truly enjoyed "N"! Sue continues to add a little more Kinsey emotions with each book along with her tomboyish humor. It is incredible that she continues to come up with good mystery for each alphabet. I cant wait until "O" appears on the bookshelves or on amazon.com! My sister and I have truly enjoyed each mystery. And we continue to trade her books from Texas to Connecticut. I listened to the audio with "M" and "N".

Summary: Did I miss something?
Review: I eagerly awaited this book as I've completely enjoyed her other novels. The character, Kinsey, was enjoyable and witty as always; however, I found myself frustrated about 1/3 to 1/2 way into the book. Basically, there was not enough development of the characters in Nota Lake and the first 140 some odd pages basically kept sending Kinsey into dead ends (in my opinion). When, finally, the end arrived, you saw it coming and it was wrapped up so fast you were left wanting more. In hindsight, I now see the clues interspersed in the beginning, but they were so vague that you completely missed them.

As I read the other reviews, I am truly left wondering what I missed! This installment did not have the same snap, crackle, and pop of her earlier escapades.

Summary: The Quirks of Investigating a Death in a Tiny Town
Review: This book was easy and fun to read. I finished it in 2 nights. It was interesting to see Kinsey operating in unfamiliar territory, the small town of Nota Lake. I found bits of dialogue to be some of Grafton's funniest ever - an exchange between Kinsey and a blowsy highly-sexed sexagenarian alcoholic for example. However, the finale was somewhat of a disappointment - overcontrived, without enough explanation. Otherwise, this book is one of Grafton's best.

Summary: Nicely done
Review: I bought it Friday, and read it Sunday. As usual Sue Grafton keeps me turning the pages waiting to see what comes next. The plot was good, the characters interesting and the descriptions enjoyable. I read other customer comments, and I'd wondered why Kinsey hasn't come to the big screen. But I agree that so often movies ruin the characters. I know that while I enjoyed V I Warshawski on the big screen, she didn't fit my imagined character at all. If Kinsey ever makes it to film, I hope Ms. Grafton has total control so her vision can be portrayed.

Summary: Really one of her best.
Review: I found Sue Grafton when I broke my ankle 5 years ago and have been an avid follower ever since. As soon as a new one comes in hard cover, I buy it. I have a craft business and we make wrought iron book ends, I try to have her books there to get comments and customers. This one is clearly one of her best. Having done shows in Bishop and the 395 area, it made it all the more interesting. We had a bet on what N would stand for and we all lost. I look forward to her O, we too will try to figure out what it will be. Thanks Sue for wonderful books.
