Summary: Not his best Prey
Review: This book started out with promise but failed to live up to it in the end. For the most part, Davenport stays true to his character but Sanford has him reacting in ways he hasn't in the past. The reasoning behind the murders of Maison and Lansing were never fully developed. The final "suprise killer" and his capture was also a bit unbelievable. Sanford has written better. Better luck with the next one

Summary: Love John Sandford and "Lucas Davenport"
Review: What I hate most about reading John Sandford's Prey books are the ending! It takes forever for a new one. Can he write faster? I think this series just gets better each time. Is it too early to wonder when the next "chapter" of Lucas' life will be written.

Summary: Devious Deviants and Davenport's Dalliance
Review: I was surprised to find I enjoyed this latest installment in the "Prey" series even more enjoyable than "Certain Prey." Sandford has a rare gift for writing about murderers and deviants and still keeping a sense of humor in forefront.

The only drawback to this book (and not the author's fault which is why I still rated it 5 stars) is that the proofreader needs to have his/her head whacked. Glaring errors in the proofing can be very distracting.

As for getting Davenport to settle down and commit to one woman, I hope he never does! Or at least, not with Weather Karkinnon, she's the dullest of all Sandford's fine creations and I have yet to figure out what Davenport sees in her. I like the predicament Lucas is left in at this book's end, a kind of 'lady or the tiger' deal. I always enjoy those few and far between books that keep my imagination going even when the book is finished.

Summary: Boy am I sleepy!
Review: Another great Lucas Davenport book. I stayed up most of the night to finish it. I knew sleep was out of the question until all of the twists and turns were resolved. Do not wait for the paperback. Do read it the evening before your day off or work will really be bad. Thanks Mr. Sanford!

Summary: O So Close !
Review: Nobody should miss a Lucas Davenport novel, and I would not suggest that you miss this one. But, there was only one cop joke in the book, and that joke didn't rate 5 stars. More importantly, the plot took a beautiful and unexpected twist near the end, followed by another twist that is rather common in serial killer novels. A bit of disappointment crept into my all night read of this book. But, Lucas Davenport was the reason I read the book. If you're a fan, you may find this to be one of the best. If you haven't read a Davenport novel, this is not the one to start with.

Summary: not the best Lucas Davenport novel
Review: Fans of Lucas will want to read this, and I am definitely a fan. But this is not up to Sandford's usual standards. Lucas (and the plot) wander aimlessly through this book. It seems as if Sandford was just throwing in any plot element that occurred to him while he was writing. And isn't it time for Lucas to either commit to a relationship, or stop beginning one with every woman he encounters? Lucas is too fascinating a character to descend to a soap opera type life.

Summary: Worst Prey Yet
Review: This has to be the worst book in the series. It lacked action and seemed to be designed to keep the reader off track. There is no way you can put clues together and try to figure out who the killer is. The confrontation in the gas station was so cheesy and unrealistic and the book even ends on a sour note, if I could get a refund I would. I wonder if author got a bonus for writing another Prey book so soon. I am a huge fan of this series, but I was very, very disappointed with this one. As a matter of fact I plan to go back to the first couple of books just to recapture the excitement missed in this one.

Summary: A SHARP, SUSPENSEFUL THRILLER
Review: Lucas Davenport is called to the crime scene of strangled supermodel Alie'e Maison. Alie'e was attending a wild party where drugs and sex flowed throughout. While searching the crime scene, a second body is discovered.

Lucas must contend with a cunning killer, as well as the media, to solve this crime, and when an old lover walks back into his life, the case becomes really complicated.

John Sandford has written the best "Prey" novel in years.

This is FAST paced entertainment, that most readers will finish in one sitting.

Summary: Not yet tired of PREY!
Review: Usually after this many novels with the same hero the characters become stale, but Sanford has managed to keep Lucas Davenport interesting. I liked the plot with two killers, makes things a little more confusing (which is good).

I also recommend "A Tourist in the Yucatan" (A juicy thriller!)

Summary: LUCAS AT HIS FINEST
Review: Lucas is back. Reading a new prey book is like a visit with old friends. Lucas and the whole crew are all here , Del, Marcy, Rose Marie, and Elle. A Super Model is murdered , and another body is found. Drugs involved? Sex involved? A Preacher? Lucas is relentless and the chase is exciting to watch unfold through the Minnesota scenery . Then there are the women. Lucas is all tangled up in murder, media, and women. Sandford delivers a great read.
