Summary: Easy Pray
Review: All John Sandford/Lucas Davenport fans (of whom I am one) should read this book -- and then write to author to say that a little more time plotting and editing would be well-spent. There is a lack of the smooth continuity that has characterized previous works in this character series, and the book is perhaps a bit short in character development and color. Nevertheless I enjoyed it, though not to the extent I did previous efforts.

Summary: His best yet
Review: I got this book only two days ago and i couldnt put it down. The suspense kept me going. The detial of both Davenport's work and love life is in perfect sink. Sanford never seems to amaze me with what he does next with Lucas. This last book has the best ending i think i have ever seen in all of his books. My only wish is that Sanford could write these books faster so i would never have to be without a new one.

Summary: Disjointed Prey
Review: A huge disappointment when compared to the earlier Prey novels. Too disjointed with too many characters. Also Lucas seemed more interested in deciding which of his ladies to favor than in solving the case.

Summary: Easy Prey
Review: Sub par Sandford. As long time fan and voracious "prey" series reader I found the latest offering of Sandford/Camp a little less than the robust thrillers I was used to from him.

The most off-putting feature of the book was the at times difficult to read dialogue. This was true especially early in the book. Several times I had to re-read sections before I figured out that he was attempting to foreshadow upcoming events, (at least that's what I think he was doing). I would prefer not to think such a usually fine writer was being obtuse.

The relationship struggles of Lucas are always interesting. Although the description of the internal struggles of Lucas are far from the complex and fascinating tussles of Robert Parker's Spenser.

Most discouraging was the ending of the investigation, as well as the (un)resolving of the relationships left this fan with a relatively acrid taste in his mouth for Easy Prey.

I do look forward to the author's next offering though because I believe he, like so many other popular authors, is under tremendous pressure to repeat their sales success, thus diminishing their skills.

Summary: Letdown
Review: There are Davenport novels that are pure whodonits and there are Davenport novels where our hero plays cat-and-mouse against a fully developed antagonist. This is neither. More convoluted than clever and more exhausting than exhilarating, Easy Prey is the worst Davenport novel since Night Prey (best in the series are Rules, Eyes, Silent, Certain and Winter). Sanford is a very talented writer, but by the time i reached the left-field climax, I truly couldn't care who did it and who lives or dies -- I just wanted it to end. The reader practically needs one of those connect-the-characters charts that Davenport used to hang on his wall to follow a case, yet your patience and close attention is never rewarded. Chapter upon chapter of pure dialogue detailing investigative procedure punctuated by skimpy action scenes and a hodgepodge of thin, sensationalistic characters.

Summary: Easy Money
Review: What a disapointment. Over the years I have waited the publishing of the Lucus Davenport stories with great anticipation. I was thrilled last week when I went into my local bookstore to find an unexpected new release. I could hardly wait to get home to start reading. I have read all of the Lucus Davenport books and have enjoyed every one of them - except this last one. What a disappointment. What happened? The ending left a taste that makes me unsure I ever want to read one again. I can understand that after writing 11 of them that the story line could get a little old. Still the story deserves more than a casual attempt than it was given. Until today, I was one of many Davenport fans. Now I just feel cheated out of the price of a hard back. I hate to see the demise of the Lucus Davenport stories. They have entertained so many for so long. With this last one I expected more of a quality book that what was written. I will place it, along with all of the other first addition hard back of John Sandford, but it will never hold a candle to the rest and I'm not sure I will be adding any more.

Summary: Easy Prey
Review: A solid thriller, with a supermodel murder victim, and surprises detonating every few pages. The best thriller since Craig Furrnas' THE SHAPE. EASY PREY is perfect summer reading. And one of the best in the Prey series.

Summary: It just gets better and better!
Review: I have read ALL of John Sanford's books! Easy Prey is one of the best. When John Sanford writes, you get such a clear picture of the characters, especially "Lucas Davenport", that you feel as if you know them personally. The plot was captivating; I usually read his books within 48 hours. This one took me 12! I could not put it down. I agree with one other reviewer. The only problem I have is that Mr. Sanford DOES NOT WRITE QUICKLY ENOUGH! I would like to see more Lucas Davenport novels soon, very soon! I think I am in love!

Summary: Good but not Great!
Review: This was a typical Lucas Davenport book......fast and confusing....It takes a long time just to sort out all of the characters. Then, old John starts recalling events in all eleven Prey books. I think the plot was good and fast. It was a difficult read because of all the details.

Come on John, slow down a bit and write another!

Summary: Lucas is at it again.
Review: Lucas is back with all his tricks. Easy prey is not quite as scary as some of the earlier prey books, but it is a good read. All your favorite characters are back and some new ones that might turn into your favorites. If you can keep up with all of the deaths you should be surprised with the ending.
