Rating: Summary: I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Review: This is the first book I have read by Stuart Woods, but I was enthralled. I read the book while camping and it took absolutely no time at all to complete. I really enjoyed the twists that continued throughout the entire book. I am looking forward to reading more by Mr. Woods.
Rating: Summary: Hand that boy a towel! Review: After being subliminally programmed by the tv monitors "STUART WOODS SWIMMING TO CATALINA" at the airport while waiting for my much delayed flight, I meandered over to the bookstore where I picked up not STC, but DITW. It was great company for the long delay and subsequent flight. After almost finishing the whole book, I made it home after 2am only to spend just a few more minutes with Stone, et al. but not the almost Mrs. Arrington Barrington!Perhaps it was that it was late at night, but I felt the ending was lame and a bit predictable but the book was entertaining and I am sure that it would make a great movie starring... Ashley Judd perhaps as Allison No. 2? I look forward to reading the other books in the series as this was my first.
Rating: Summary: A thrill a minute must read! Review: "Dead in the Water" by Stuart Woods delivers a suspenseful thriller formula about a beautiful young woman that docks a yacht in a Caribbean port. Allison Manning, claims her husband had a heart attack and she buried him at sea. The plot thickens when she is charged with murder after the authorities learn about the $12 million insurance policy her husband took out several years ago. Vacationing lawyer Stone Barrington, whose girlfriend misses their flight to the Caribbean because of a work assignment, leaves Barrington free to come to Manning's aid. Allison tearfully tells the authorities, how her husband suffered a fatal heart attack while she was lodged atop a mast and was unable to help herself down much less help him through his unfortunate incident, and was forced to finally bury him at sea. The story's good enough for the coroner's inquest, but not enough for Sir Winston Sutherland, an ambitious Minister of Justice, who thinks a high-profile conviction might be just the thing to catapult him into the Prime Minister's post. Allison comes off as the poor little rich girl with all the right credentials (blond hair, killer body, and boundless sexual stamina) to secure herself the premier legal representation on St. Marks in the vacationing New York lawyer, Stone Barrington and his side kick Leslie Hewitt an elderly local barrister.
Stone believes that he need only lodge a media campaign to expose the islands government that assumes that the accused is guilty and the real crime would be keeping the jury past dinnertime. Stone is pulled deeper into the mysterious web of Allison Manning by succumbing to her seductive advances which render him impotent to a justice system which bears very little resemblance to the American courts. Dead in the Water is a cyclone of a roller coaster ride. Every page leaves you on the edge and the verge of suspense.
Rating: Summary: A Terrific Read Review: Woods has crafted a fine tale of suspense and mystery. I can hardly wait to hear what happens to Allison in his next book!
Rating: Summary: For a few cold winter nights you can escape to the Caribbean Review: This is a fun, exciting read! Stuart Woods has hit the nail on the head with some of the government folks that you'd find on an island such as St. Marks! Compare this with "Don't Stop the Carnival" for that island feeling! He's been there! You've been there when you finish the book - and perhaps you'll even go back! If you sail, fly or just enjoy a Caribbean vacation.., you're bound to enjoy Dead In The Water! Rating: Summary: captivating from the very first line Review: Stuart Woods once again steals the hearts of thriller bookworms in his latest book, "Dead in the Water." Mr. Woods writes books with details that everyone wonders about, but wouldn't ask. Take this one on a vacation, but bring more Woods' titles, because you'll finish it before the final boarding call.
Rating: Summary: DEAD IN THE WATER Review: THIS BOOK KEEPS YOU ON THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT. I LOST A LOT OF SLEEP CAUSE I COULDNT PUT THE BOOK DOWN. STUART WOODS HAS DEFINANTLY OUT DOWN HIMSELF. THIS BOOK IS AS GOOD AS NEW YORK DEAD. I VE READ MOST OF HIS BOOKS AND THIS BOOK KICKS BUTT. THIS BOOK IS A DEFIANT THRILLER. CANT FALL ASLEEP READING IT
Rating: Summary: Stuart Woods does it again!! Review: If you liked "Dirt" then "Dead in the Water" is a definite on your TBR list. Stone Barrington and his love life will keep your attention, along with the twists and turns of the "murdering" wife..who of course catches Stone's attention!! As the plot unfolds, you are kept guessing..but the ending was terrific. "Dead in the Water" leaves a -hook- at the end, to get us ready for the next escapade of Stone's...Hurry Mr. Woods! I had the pleasure of attending a book signing last month and was delighted with Mr. Woods. He is a very interesting person as well as a great writer. His next book is due out in'98 and will be "Swimming to Catalina" another Stone Barrington novel.
Rating: Summary: A VERY RELAXING SUMMER READ!!!!! Review: THIS IS THE MR WOODS'S THIRD NOVEL I HAVE A READ AND FOUND IT TO BE NOT AS ENTERTAINING AS HIS PREVIOUS TWO.HOWEVER, THIS BY NO MEANS IS A LET DOWN BECAUSE THE PLOT IS BOLD AND THE BOOK HAS RICHLY COLOURFUL CHARACTERS AND THE SEX SCENES ARE HIGHLY EXPLANATORY.THE MAIN CHARACTER STONE BARRINGTON IS A REAL MACHO STUD AND YOU FEEL CERTAIN ENVY WISHING TO BE IN HIS POSITION.THE ENDING IS MOST REWARDING AND PROVES BEYOND ANY DOUBT MR WOODS'S ABILITY AS A SUPERB STORYTELLER.I AM REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO READ HIS OTHER BOOKS AND HIS NEW BARRINGTON NOVEL DUE EARLY NEXT YEAR.
Rating: Summary: Could have been better Review: This was fairly entertaining, but as in other books by Mr. Woods, you need to leave reality at the door and just go with the hero and his epic libido. Best to wait for the paperback unless you have the rebate coupon from his last.
