Summary: Couldn't put it down
Review: This was an impulse buy of a book by an author I had not heard of. I'm glad I bought it - it was GREAT. I read it in 24 hours...I didn't want to put it dowm. Highly recommend it!

Summary: A total surprise, true page turner, Fast pace and brilliant.
Review: Tess really got me with "The Surgeon". Although this is her first work that I am reading, I can easily say that she has become my favourite writer among Thomas Harris (Red Dragon) and Douglas Preston (Thunder Head).
This book is surely a page turner and right in the middle of the book (when most books just goes in boring uninteresting and slow details about characters and sub plots) comes the climax. Although starting this book can be a real trip to the medicine cabinet, since the beginning chapters are soaked with blood and gore, I had to put down the book for Advil and some relaxing music.
A sure read for summer-thriller seekers, you won't put the book down like me until you have finished it.
I started this book Saturday night and in a day and a half, Mid Monday afternoon (Labor Day) I was done with it.
Talk about a quick read...Can't wait to read "The Apprentice", the follow up to "The Surgeon".

Summary: Edge of Your Chair Read
Review: Tess Gerritsen's novel The Surgeon is an unqualified success in the area of edge of your chair, let's keep the lights on, shall we? suspense, murder, thriller mysteries. From the first page I was caught in the story of Rizzoli, Moore and Cordell and . . .the surgeon. For 350 pages I was caught in the spell of desire to KNOW coupled with a dread of knowing the answer--just who was that surgeon, anyway? The novel builds quickly, adding stone to stone in a very plausible and believable way until the final climactic scenes play out in rural Massachusettes. For those who crave thrills and chills in the written word, I say, go for it--this is perfect!!

Summary: A First for Me
Review: Having done a lot of heavy reading in recent weeks, I was ready for some serious escapism. Thus, I sat down to read "The Surgeon." Some seven hours later I turned the 350th and last page and stood up to notice a slightly sore derriere. I had never read an entire novel in a single sitting. Thus, I suspect this may be what they call a "page turner."

With "The Surgeon," Tess Gerritsen appears to be contender for Thomas Harris' title as best serial killer novelist. Indeed, "Surgeon" has many parallels to Harris' "Silence of the Lambs." Fortunately, Gerritsen invented many novel twists to the "killer tortures, mutilates, and kills women until some smart woman gets him" genre. So, be prepared for some surprises.

The action never stops. When the killer takes a breather, the reader is served graphic accounts of horrific ER scenes -- to keep the blood spurting so to speak.

If you like a macabre thriller that reeks of fear and suffering, it doesn't get any better than this. By the way, be sure to lock your windows on hot summer nights.

Summary: The Surgeon
Review: The New York Times bestselling author of Harvest & Bloodstream returns with the tale of a sadistic killer who terrorizes Boston, & the one woman who can catch him before he kills again.

Summary: Worth Reading!
Review: In typical Tess Gerritsen fashion, The Surgeon is a book that gets your attention right from the start and doesn't wane throughout this fast-paced medical thriller. The plot, which is described in many of the earlier reviews, is well-developed and exciting. However, I was a little disappointed in that I was able to guess too many of the events that ultimately occurred and the reasons for them too far in advance. Nonetheless, The Surgeon is well worth reading and should keep you engrossed. Enjoy!

Summary: Surgeon Review
Review: This Book is a must have! If You are into the scary scene this is definatly the book to read. It kept me trapped in the surroundings and I wanted to read more and more as I got further and further. And it scared me out of my bloody mind! It was awesome! She explains everything in so much detail that it holds you and you can actually imagine that you are the one there. You feel like you wanna scream because of whats happening but you have to keep telling yourself that it's just a book. You get so lost in the characters! It's an awesome book. I don't get scared easily but oh my god! MUST READ!!

Summary: Graphic and gripping!
Review: 'The Surgeon' was my first Tess Gerritsen novel but it sure isn't gonna be the last. The title refers to the nickname earned by a serial killer in Boston because of the way he treats his victims. But his MO(pun unintended!) turns out to be the same as another killer in Georgia. That killer was killed by his last intended victim, a woman who is now a doctor, but it looks like the Surgeon may be after her now.

Gerritsen does a great job here, maintaining the suspense at a high level from start to finish. The occasional detours into the mind of the killer are well-written and terrifying while the gradual breakthroughs in the investigation lead to a steady chase by the cops. The technical details in the chase are not overdone and even the sequences in the ER managed to keep a non-medical reader like me hooked. On the down side the romance and the climax(in a cellar!) were cliched. The novel is not for the squeamish and graphic details abound, whether in the description of the killer's methods or Catherine's operations in the ER.

Summary: The Surgeon
Review: As an avid fan of mystery with a twist...such as Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, Red Dragon, the V.I. Warshawski series and just about everything written by Patricia Cornwell, I was thrilled and delighted with Tess Gerritsen's "The Surgeon". It had everything I could have imagined, and more. I couldn't put the book down: the attention to detail, the heart-pounding, edge of your seat suspense was fabulous. The best thing about my adventure with The Surgeon was that I couldn't figure out who he was until I was hit between the eyes with it...and Dr. Gerritsen's use of descriptive language and imagery was second to none. Keep these novels coming!

Summary: Tess does it again!
Review: I was concerned that Tess would have a hard time topping "Gravity." She did so, rather well, with this book. It grabbed me from the start, and the one time I put it down <smirk>, it was all I could think about. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars, was that the gore level was a bit high - what with the killer being so nasty, and the "down time" in the book being held in a trauma suite - the gore is pretty much constant. Now that I've finished "The Surgeon," all I can think is... movie???
