Summary: Surgeon is a great scary thriller
Review: Tess Gerritsen writes a great thriller. The Surgeon is a scary read that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The book actually makes you check your windows before going to bed and pray nothing like this happens to you.

The killer tortures and kills in a very twisted way (ie. drugs, duct tape and the removal certain body internal parts).

A "Saintly" detective has to solve the crime all while dealing with a partner that has it seems conflicted feelings and feelings for a victim that doesn't want to be one.
This is a great read for gerritsen fans and a good place to start to become one. Highly recommended..

Summary: A terrific, fast-paced thriller
Review: Tess Gerritsen is a wonderful writer. Her medical details are spot-on, and her prose is spine-tingling.

Summary: Startling and satisfying!
Review: This was the first book by Tess Gerritsen that I had ever read, and it hooked me into her novels immediately. She is a medical suspense author like no other, and "The Surgeon" is a thoughtfully-woven tale that reveals her artistic skill in creating tension and unrelenting anxiety within the reader.

Dr. Catherine Cordell is the cool-headed surgeon, but she is also a former rape victim. As a string of rapes remarkably similar to her own begin to occur, she is startled. They are happening closeby, and detective Thomas Moore singles her out as the only possible connection. The only difference between Cordell and these new rape victims...she is the only one surviving.

As the story continues, we realize that the killer is now stalking Cordell's movements. Moore becomes her guardian, and later in the story, something more. However, until the killer is found, neither can rest...

The climactic ending leaves you gripping your seat and holding your breath. I salute Ms. Gerritsen for knowing how to formulate the medical thriller with such dexterity, wit, and sincerity.

Summary: I could not put this book down.
Review: I believe that Tess Gerritsen is one of the most superlative
mystery writers of this genre. Each book is one that I race through and she keeps my interest until the book's end. You need to read her "Apprentice", too. It is a sequel book.

Summary: Not this time around
Review: As a long time fan of Ms Gerritsen, I was really looking forward to
The Surgeon, alas it was a big disappoint and ever so predictable. The characters were good but story line was just not up to her usual standard.

Summary: The Surgeon's Review
Review: The Surgeon is aimed at teens and adults. It would be hard for younger kids to read it. The book also had some disturbing scenes in the book that might scare younger kids. It was a mystery and it had a very good plot. The characterization could have been better. You didn't really get to know the characters personally outside their job. The police officers didn't really have much life outside of their job so you didn't get to see what they were really like. The way that the author wrote the book there were many things going on at once that made you keep reading. I liked how the author jumped for scene to scene it kept you thinking about what all was happening. There was times were things were happening at the same time and the author jumped around so you knew what was happening at all times.
I felt like I got wrapped up in everything that was happening like I was trying to figure out who was the serial rapist and what was going to happen next. I was reading it at home one night when I was by myself and I remember actually being scared that someone was going to brake in through my window. I really felt bad for the victims and everyone that he effected. "The surgeon" stalks the main character Dr. Cordell. He is determined to kill her for what she did to his partner. I felt scared for her and it was like I was her trying to protect myself from "the surgeon."
I really liked the book because it reminded me of Profiler which is one of my favorite shows. It was my favorite book that I have read in the past couple years. I really got into it and didn't want to stop reading. It was a very fast paced book and it only took me a week to read it. I am very interested to read some other books by the same author and maybe even get it to detective work as I get a little bit older.

Summary: An Incredibly Gripping Thriller
Review: As a first-time reader of Gerritsen as well as medical thrillers in general, I was very pleased and surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I have tried other thrillers but the characters always seemed cold to me; Gerritsen blew me away not only with her knowledge of the subject matter, but also because her characters are so real and believable.

I felt like Catherine Cordell could have been one of my friends, someone I knew or worked with. I felt empathy towards Moore, who underneath it all grieved continuously over the loss of his wife, Mary, and wrestled with his new emotions for Cordell.

Gerritsen kept me guessing the entire time, and until the last few pages, I really had no idea what was going to happen. I love books that keep you guessing until the end and this one certainly does! I highly recommend "The Surgeon," and now I am off to buy more Gerritsen thrillers!

Summary: A Great Medical Thriller!!!
Review: This was a first time read for me by this author and I was really surprised! The story hooked me from the first and I was unable to put it down until I finished it.

The characters are great and well developed. Catherine Cordell is a rape survivor and a surgeon. She is just getting on with her life in Boston when the unbelievable happens and women are being killed and tortured just as she had been while living and working in Savahanna. Thomas Moore is a detective and he has been assigned the Surgeon case. He is on the trail of a serial killer that preys on women that have been raped in the past. He tortures them before he kills them. He finds himself not only fighting to find this monster before he kills again, but he finds himself drawn the Dr. Cordell. How can he protect her and still remain focused on the task at hand?

The storyline is well plotted out and reads rather easily. Although the author does use medical terminology the lay-person will not be left wonders "what did she just say?". The terminology is used in such a way that you will understand what is going on. The Suspense is first rate and the reader solves the case right along with the police. If you have not read this author you are in for a real treat.

Summary: Gripping Thriller--Couldn't Put It Down
Review: This book grabbed me from page 1. I couldn't put is down. I read it from start to finish in a couple of days. I'm so busy that most novels take weeks or months to read a few pages at a time. This is a perfect suspense thriller.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Love, Crime - all it takes.
