Rating: Summary: HOT AND FUNNY Review: I normally don't write reviews becuase I never know what to say but this book was so good I had to write something. I have read a couple of other books by Linda Howard but this was the best yet. I don't remember ever reading a mystery book that kept me laughing throughout the whole book. Although all the charecters where pretty good, I enjoyed Jaine and her sassy attitude the best not to mention the good looking detective. I really hope that Ms. Howard writes a sequel to Mr. Perfect with the original living charecters. I highly recommend this book!!
Rating: Summary: Mr. Perfect Review: The only word to describe this book is simply: "Perfect"!
Rating: Summary: Great Sex,Love and Mystery Review: Four ladies who work together get together each week to socialize with each other. On a particular evening, the group eventurally comes up with a list that describes "The Perfect Man".The list consist of 4 or 5 characteristics that most women would agree with;such as,honesty, loyalty, caring, etc.Descriptions of the male anatomy, including male sexual body parts are added to the list. The women had no motive except to have some fun and the list was never meant to leave the group. The list leaks out and it is published in the newspaper. "The List",as it became known, offended some men and they expressed their thoughts and feelings about what it said and meant. Some men found the list funny and did not take it seriously. But,a guy named Corin, took the list as offensive and disturbing. He is psychotic due to abuse by his mother when Corin was a child.Corin believes his mother will be very pleased with him (he will be "her perfect little boy")...The relationship between each of the ladies and their significant others in their private life are described throughout the book. The dept of each relationship is developed as the story is told causing the reader to feel as if that person is real. I really loved the plot of the book, the characters, the mystery and the surprise ending.I would have given a rating of 5 except for one reason.I like a book that leaves some of the sexual acts to the reader's imagination and is not as graffic as some of the scenes in this book.Call me a prude, but I come from the old school.Always leave a little to the imagination.
Rating: Summary: A Definite HIT!!! Review: This is not only one of my favorites by Linda Howard, but some of the few romance novels I've read that I have to reread over and over. It's up there with Robert's Montana Sky and Gabaldon's Outlander. It's supposedly a mystery romance, but there's not too much mystery in it; however, you don't really mind all that much. It's got a surprise ending and the least of what you expect happens. It's hot, blunt and the characters are strong and bold. The main female character is woman named Jaine Bright, a computer techi, formulates a Mr. Right List with 3 of her other close friends. When it becomes national news, they end up ruffling not only men everywhere, but also a psycho with a self-esteem issue. Enter Sam, the annoying loud, perhaps drug dealer neighbor of Jaine. They can't stand each other. For a while anyway. Jaine with her hit and miss relationships at first doesn't notices Sam's, ahem, nice assets. But as they come in contact with each other more and more, they both realize they have very volatile feelings: for each other. ... I was surprised that the mystery part wasn't all too bad; not the greatest, but not bad at all. I liked Jaine's real attitude and behavior. She's smart, sassy and knows how swear like sailor. There's a lot of humor injected into the dialogue, which makes you burst out laughing! I couldn't get enough. When I finished, I wanted it to be longer. I got done in one afternoon-that good! It would awesome if Ms. Howard would write a sequel to Mr. Perfect. Read on, you won't regret reading this.
Rating: Summary: Fun and surprisingly in-depth Review: I admit, I didn't expect much from this book. I hadn't enjoyed Ms. Howard's previous works of suspense, but the title drew me. I had so much fun reading Mr. Perfect! Janie is so quirky and lively; the descriptions of the relationships between the characters are great; and the story itself leaves you hanging, although it's obvious that the people are the main focus, not the plot. Thankfully, the characters are wonderful--fun, funny, deep, and well-developed.
Rating: Summary: Cussin' heroine and wise cracking cop = Sexy as Hell! Review: I really enjoyed the realistic heroine here. Jaine cracked me up with her penchant for cursing and I loved Sam, the hero/cop who lives next door. Jaine has just bought her first home, and life is pretty good, except for her neighbor, a man who comes home bleary-eyed and rumpled. Jaine assumes he's a drunk and curses his loud, in need of a muffler car--which wakes her up at odd hours. However, soon, the two neighbors see um, different sides of each other. Different...being nude. LOL When Jaine gets an eye-ful of her well endowed neighbor, suddenly, she sees him in a new, lusty light. That's the romance side of it. Now, as to the suspense... Jaine and her three best friends who all work at this computer company get together each Friday at a grill/bar to have dinner, a drink or two and share about their life. One night, they decide to create a fictional list of qualities for the PERFECT Man. It should have been just a joke and laugh shared between friends, but it gets out to the local paper, and is picked up by national TV and Magazines. The women are thrust into the limelight. That limelight catches the eye of someone who considers himself the perfect Man, though he lacks all the qualities listed. And he will KILL to prove it. Sexy, funny, sad and emotional, this was an extremely enjoyable read. I loved it.
Rating: Summary: Funny, Exciting, Fantastic! Review: This is one of the best books I've read. Not only did I laugh (literally outloud!), but the book had some incredible love scenes and completely exciting thriller scenes. The end is a complete twister that you don't figure out until Linda Howard finally reveals the mystery. Jaine is truly someone to strive to be like.. she is strong, sexy and extremely smart. She is the type of woman everyone should strive to be... very assure of herself and very confident in who she is. Sam... yum yum! I think Sam completed every aspect of Mr. Perfect. The story will have you laughing one minute, scared the next, and curling your toes at the incredible love scenes with Jaine and Sam. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Surprisingly Disappointed Review: I gave two stars only because I finished the book through to the end. It would have earned only 1 if I had stopped and set the book aside, but I had to see if there ever would be a murder to solve. The first chapter was the best- and I really looked forward to reading more. I was half way through the book when something finally happened. The pages read like a "Dick and Jane" story, no depth to the characters or the scenes. I found myself skimming paragraphs after reading on end how Jaine shouldn't get involved with Sam. I was expecting a good combination of intrigue, lust, and suspense - didn't happen. There was atleast one lust provoking scene, but the suspense and intrigue -zilch, not even one goosebump. If you feel you must read it, pick one up at the library, save your money for a real keeper. If you want suspense and lust - try Midnight Bayou by Nora Roberts, that one won't disappoint you.
